    Ironman

A few of my friends have seen the movie over the weekend. I was supposed to go on Friday with my friend Zach and few other people but I had a family dinner to go to. To be honest, when seeing the previews it looked horrible. I remember hearing about Ironman when growing up from my dad. I haven't read the comics but even if I did, I had highly doubt that it would've done it justice.

To my surprise, I was actually surprised to hear that it was really good. Not to mentioned that actors such as Robert Downey Jr., Terrance Howard, and Gwyneth Paltrow are quite well-known actors.

Earlier, I looked up reviews and on IMBD, I found this:

So the world premier of Iron man to regular movie going audiences happened to be here in Seoul Korea on an army installation. I got to check it out and I was delightfully surprised.

Much against the hype, I thought this movie would have been torrid trash acting mingled with cheesy fight scenes. I mean Robert Downey Jr as an action superhero? But I am glad to admit that I misjudged the movie completely. Downey played a very good Tony Stark, in generally every way. From his jokes to his obnoxious lifestyle he looked and walked the part very well. His banter with his right hand assistant Ms. Pepper Potts isn't mind numbing and actually found myself laughing aloud at some of the wit.

The movie itself moved at a very good pace. Mixing action, comedy and some drama to just about the right proportions. As with most superhero movies, its rather predictable, but in all the right ways you'd want a superhero movie to be. The animation used was almost seamless, and of course the Iron Man costume was kicking major ass.

My only gripe with the movie was the fact that several characters were thrown into the mix with little behind them other than 2D character attributes. Leslie Bibb's character, Christine Everhart, is pretty useless other than the two or three lines she has. Hardly worth a hardbody like Leslie Bibb to play. Several other characters didn't feel fleshed out at all. Raza (Faran Tahir), Obediah Stone (Jeff Bridges) , and even Jim Rhodes (Terrence Howard) feel hollow in the fact that they have little justification for many of their actions.

So All in all, I'd give this movie an 8.3. Fun for the whole family, great pacing, and a Superhero movie to give the next Batman movie a run for its money.
But I'll be waiting till it comes out on DVD. Still, I'm a bit skeptical about seeing it. Anyone else seen it or is going to?

I really want to go see it, a friend at my work said it was amazing and that it does the comics and ironman in the avengers real justice. I take his word when it come to movies. I think i'm going to see it in the next couple of days. So i'll tell you what I think.

I just saw it earlier today and I gotta say, it's a lot better than what some skeptics take it for. I mean it does have a bit dull feeling to it as you're watching it, but the director, actors, and action pump some fun into it as you're waiting to find out what happens next. This movie sort of took the Spider-man [first one] path too as there wasn't really a whole lot of action scenes, yet for Downey and the overall story, they truly made it work in bringing it onto the screen. Of course, the dialogue was both predictable and unpredictable at times. There were the typical one-liners that you'd expect, but considering it's a comic book adaptation we're talking about it also works as to bringing the comic book to life.

Overall, I'd definitely say Iron Man is at least worth a 9 as it didn't try to be some super blockbuster movie and stayed close to the heart of Iron Man himself without making him dance on pianos or using too much CGI. The CGI was pretty good too. You could often tell when it was CGI, but I find that I can figure out what's CGI in just about every movie and I felt despite that it was excellent. They leveled out the CGI as well as they actually had made a suit to shoot the simpler scenes.

This is also going to be a trilogy and all the original actors have signed onto each sequel already, so expect to see something next year.

I'm going to go see it this Thursday in fact, and really Fishie, you shouldn't be skeptic. I mean, look at what that guy said. He was skeptic too, and he loved it. So I think you'll love it too and you should see it in theaters. I know it's expensive, but it will be worth it, trust me.

Alright first off I'm going to say I hate Iron Man. He's a male-genitalia-head...a massive, fat headed jerk. I mean the only marvel character I hate more than him is Mr. Fantastic (and if your willing to call yourself 'Mr. Fantastic' thats reason enough for people to think you're a male-genitalia-head). It was the civil war saga that really set me off against him, but I've always thought he was too much of a pretender hero dreamed up in the Vietnam era to be a pseudo-Captain America.

Having said all that, I was totally blown away by the movie. Oh Tony Stark is still a male-genitalia-head, but Downey makes him a more convincing and lovable jerk than the new Batman managed to do (and there are a lot of parallels that can be drawn between Iron Man and Batman). The hinting at the Mandarin with the terrorist cell of the eight rings was a marvelous touch. The comedy wasn't too corny, the emotional bits were serious enough not to come off as hokey, and there was absolutely no 'if you mess with him you mess with all of us!' scenes to remind me I was basically watching a paranoid societal reaction to a post 9/11 world.

Really, I think this is the best comic book based movie since the second Spider-man movie...maybe since Tim Burtons Batman. It's that good. Remember, this is coming from somebody that really HATES Iron Man and most of what he stands for. I'm actually excited about Iron Man 2. Besides, its success means they've green lighted the Captain America and Avenger movies.

anyways, good flick, see it in theaters, buy the DVD, whatever. (I dunno about the game though, those never seem to work out when based directly on the movie).

Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT ON DVD!

You are denying yourself the single greatest super hero movie thus far. Spider-Man was too corny. X-men was too...whatever. Only the original Batman and maybe the one coming out this summer has anything to say against Ironman.

Tony Stark, the biggest asshole of the Marvel universe(with the exception of Nick Fury and maybe...like...Namor) is played perfectly by Robert. Jeff Bridges is amazing. The jokes are perfectly tuned. Nothing is overdone. Nothing is over the top. Nothing is comic-bookishly corny. It's all very real and very believable.

I highly recommend you see this before it escapes theatres.

Iron Man. **** yeah! Seen it thrice. I'm addicted ;___; I'm dying for it to come out on DVD. And as my friend described it, it's "one big porno for gadget freaks."

Overall played pretty true to the character and I absolutely LOVED the references all over the place. Though I was slightly disappointed with the lack of alcohol, at least in the second half (I'm a sucker for alchie!Stark.) Civil War was just a shitstorm I completely avoided and continue to avoid.

Also, they've greenlighted Captain America, Antman (srsly, wtf?), Thor and Avengers movies. I'm rather dissapointed that the Pyms (I'm assuming) will get their own movie since they're generally useless characters that no one likes. I'm wondering how they'll cast Cap and Thor though. And I'm hoping the Cap movie will be WWII based. For srs.

Iron man was pretty awesome in my opinion, but I am a bad movie critic so idk! I am not much in tune with the marvel universe so I can't say whether it was accurate or not, but it seemed like the actor for Tony Stark did a nice job bringing out the smart alpha-male type of character he was supposed to be. A lot of the moments in the movie had me laughing aloud with all the A-grade body language and situational dialogue that went along with the characters, which made some parts of the movie that were vulnerable to bad humor seem funny. I think some of the acting went over the top during the final showdown, that seemed corny to me. Otherwise it was a very good movie, I reccomend seeing it in theaters.

I saw this movie and hate to say it but this movie sucked bad. I'll give it 5 out of 10. The movie had too much boring crap and had no action at all. I really can't believe people saying thsi movie was good. The movie was almost 2 hours long and you will see like 5 minute action after like 1 hour and 15 minutes then at the end you see another 10 minutes of action and thats pretty much it...the movie was lame and boring. I mean come on..movies like transformers 2007 or Robocop in 1987 was way better than this movie.

I have general knowledge of the Marvel universe from some bits i saw whilst growing up and seeing the older ones on the odd late evening back then. So when i saw that I clicked onto the eight rings reference and assumed they would be in it. As proved wrong, my assumption is that there will be a sequel as most people are saying

As for the film itself, I didn't like how it was advertised but some of my mates wanted to watch it and do I tagged along. Surprisingly (like in the review and with other members) I enjoyed it. It was better than previous Marvel films. I liked the background of Stark as it seemed better than other hero background. I mean look at Spiderman: He gets bit by a spider and gains powers. He shows these in some clueless way in his school and no one can put two and two together to work it out *sigh* Ironman's background was on par with the Batman one which in its own right was a brilliant film.

But anyone, I talk too much. The film, the action and everything was awesome to the extent I would go to watch it again without second thought.

I'm suprise to hear people saying this movie even had action. Uhh what action? There are only 3 action parts in this movie, the beginning, where he wears the suit for the first time and like you gotta wait about an hour until you see another action which lasted only like 5 minutes (this was the only good action part of the movie) and at the end of the movie where he fights the another suit. If you combine all that its only like 15 minutes of action, not to mentioned that the movie was 2 hours long. This movie has no action. Robot fighting movies like robocop back in late 80s and early 90s was far beter than ironman

That's because people's definitions of action and what is important in what they consider a good movie are not the same. I admit that the movie Ironman did not have protracted battle scenes like other Marvel movies. But then, that's not what I was looking for in it. I got exactly what I wanted out of it. You may find that the next one will have more time for action, seeing that it doesn't have to set up backstory.

Or maybe it's just not for you.

Cowboy, if all you're wanting is action, go jump on the other comic-book movie bandwagons out there who throw away the story because seriously, before that comic books weren't all about the action. Many focused on the drama of the main character (e.g. Batman) and what it did to him or her over the years. It was never about the senseless violence that superhero's fight against, but the story that affects the superhero.

With Ironman, we see them instead of making some giant CGI fest of Ironman fighting all teh bad guys, they actually take the time to tell what happens to Stark and how it effects him. They tell the story of who Ironman is and who he becomes, which was well done. That is what makes it superior to many comic book movies out there and Superman, the first live-action movie, makes a good example of that by adding a lot of story instead of just having the superhero find and beat up the bad guys (e.g. the 60's Batman movies).

What would you rather have: Ironman running around a harbor with a bomb or Ironman finding his retribution to saving the people who are killed by the very weapons he makes?

If you want action, go watch Spider-man 3. I'm sure watching Peter Parker dance on a piano will satisfy your simplistic needs.

peter parker on piano? Great suggestion..i love piano songs..better than most crap that came out today and yes, I prefer spidy 3 over red buckethead who should carry a barrel of oil behind him so he can fly a little longer anyday.

I went to the theater a week or so ago to watch Iron Man. I kept hearing praise for it and how epic all of it was, so I was kind of excited. I'd never read the comics, so I went in with some friends (a few had already watched it, but they thought it was good enough to see again, and that really encouraged me) kind of curious and ready to be amazed. Like two minutes into it I was already hyped up.

The action was cool, and the special effects weren't corny at all. Most special effects I see in movies end up making it corny or too crazy, but everything was awesome! Action movies like that aren't usually my style, but Iron Man was a pretty good exception. Kind of funny at some parts too.

I almost didn't see this in the theater cause I'm not a huge fan of superheroes and such (well ok, I like the X-Men), but man am I glad I didn't miss my chance. I started hearing lots of good reviews and people were saying not to miss it, so I didn't. Not random people by the way, people I know.

Let me just say that any movie opening with Back in Black is win. That first scene was awesome. It only got better from there. I honestly didn't think I'd like it as much as I did, but man it was fun. The fact that he wasn't a whiny emo about being a superhero was quite refreshing, as was the matter of fact way he dealt with it. The dialogue was quite well done and I'm pleased that Pepper wasn't a completely cardboard, generic sidekick/sexual tension generator. Other than that one scene anyway.

I'm so buying it as soon as it comes out on DVD.

I watched this film for the first time the other night, obviously didn't catch it in theaters.

I thought it was supurbly done. I love how they focused more on how Tony Stark because Iron man then just saying here he is with a minute of back story so deal with it and figure it out your self. I wish they could of made it just a little longer and added a few more moments leading up to the final fight.

Visuals: I found them to be great, still not completely up to be compaired to real life, could notice alot of CG, but it was done very well 9/10

Score: Ok to strat off just listen to the intro track of the movie, need I say more? OK well then the rest of the soundtrack was just as impressive as the opening selection and was a major addition to the over all feel of the movie. 10/10

Story: Oh how I love how they actually put thought into the concept of this comic book depiction. As mentioned I loved how they focus on the becoming of Ironman more then the fight at the end. I was kind of supprised at the villan, not really but I am bad about guessing movies. And the apparrent love connection was great from the begining. "sometimes taking out the trash" was a great line and I about died when it was said. good mix of humor, action and suspence gives this movie a solid 9/10

Acting: I really don't think they could of picked a better crew for this film. Each actor/actress took their role and owned it adding just what was needed to really make their character pop. I had doubts about Paltro (SP?) but even she supprised me and pulled it off, quite well I might add. I could not pick a better cast. 10/10

Director: Every thing that was accomplished in this film was amazing and you can not do that with out an amazing director, all of the angles used in the shoot made the feel of the movie very appealing to the eyes and also made some of the fight scenes eve more interesting. 9/10

Overall: It was amazing and a good watch, I would highly recommend this one to just abotu any one. Not a perfect 10 on my books and doesn't my top 20 list of all time favorites but it is very close. 9/10

Next up on my list: Hulk

I enjoyed the movie. I saw it the first night it came out. It's not exactly a Dark Knight and it's not like the story is going to blow your socks off but if you enjoy Robert Downey Jr, and like flashy affects it's for you. I wouldn't say it's a thrilling 4 star film...but it's a solid comic book movie that holds your attention the entire time.
