    Eragon

Pleh! I know this is one of those fantasy movies and for some who are too mature for it if so but the heck with it.

Anyways, this movie was released many months ago and of course since this is the movies thread, comments and thought about it.

Just lettin ppl know that I never watched it but just read the book and currently onto the second book with the third one which came out this year. I was about to watch it yesterday but the buffer took so long and as usual I wasnt allowed to watch it on Youtube, even with guarding.

But I say the story's quite amazing. Other than some parts were mixed up from the book to the movie by just seeing the screenshots they had...
Anyways, anyone else's ideas about it?

The movie was nowhere near as good as the book. I think they spent all their money on making Saphira look good. The orc-like race (I forget what they're called; I read the second book like two years ago now) were basically just a barbarian human race in the movie, and the Shade looks like an ordinary man. Plus, King Evil-Jerk (once again, haven't read the books in some time) was in the movie when he should not have been; he wasn't in the story, and that was half the mystery. Furthermore, many of the resistance characters are not in the movie at all. There were also key scenes of suspense from the book that are ruined in the movie by not being suspenseful at all.

To me, the book was a pretty fun read-my favorite part being Saphira-but the movie does not measure up. The second book, I had to trudge through more, however. I have the third book, but haven't read it yet. Anyhoo...

I had read Eragon and was half way through Eldest when I watched the movie. Pretty much all my friends had read the book, and we were all expecting the movie to be at least as epic as the Harry Potter movies that had come out before. When I went in and came out ninety minutes later, I was devastated. Everything moved too fast for anything to sink in. The Shade wasn't as impressive as I was hoping, and I don't remember even blinking when Old-Guy-Who-Was-Eragon's-Mentor died. It really sucks when you read a book and love it, then go to watch the movie and get crushed by how terrible it was in comparison. I wasted eight dollars that day...

Athna Loveil, don't waste you time with it. You're better off just reading the series.

Oh well, I already watched it.
And yeah, it was pretty fast. I couldnt understand why and how Eragon got so strong in that short of a time. Sort of the opposite from the book. The runaway part was long and battle was short.
But other than that I still liked it. Maybe fantasy is a thing for me after all.

It's the best dragon movie next to dragon heart. I love dragons so that's why I love it; it's AWESOME!!!

Hmmm havnt had the pleasure of reading it but the movie was kind of dull.Saphira looked nice but youre gonna have to do better than a few cool computer effects to impress me.The story used in the movie was ok but I had just seen 300 that same nice and to be fair not many movies would have looked good after that powerhouse.

First off... I haven't read the book. So I have no idea when it comes to the comparisons. Sorry >_<

Secondly... I saw maybe half the movie- sound off though <_<
But I can give my opinion! I thought the effects were pretty awesome... and the dragon was the best x3 Also having Jeremy Irons in it was a great plus! I love him... his voice is the best!
When watching it like I was I admitedly felt tempted to perhaps purchase the DvD and watch it from the beginning. Also it spurred me on to read the book. But people seem to dislike this movie after reading the book... >_<

    Following the path for truth...

    and ending the dream.

I read the book, and Eldest and Brisingr, (wondering when the last one is coming out), i don't exactly think i've watched the movie though, yet i really liked the book, i'm really into fantasy type literature, or books with superhuman entities (Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, and other creatures).

I really like the books and was excited to see the movie but I was really disappointed with the movie. Too short ,too fast ,and a waste of time. I was really disappointed at how they portrayed the Urgals. I was thinking they would look like orcs or something not this:

The movie was a bad adaption of the book.
