    Best Tarantino movie?

Our dear friend Quentin Tarantino, king of dialogue, has been involved in quite a few projects over the years. Most of them have been well received. Time for a poll. The poll only includes films Tarantino directed or wrote.

What is your favourite so far?

    Motivate your choice.

    Not in the list
-Inglourious Basterds (sic), because it's not out yet.
-My Best Friend's Birthday, because it was not finished.
-Four Rooms, because he only wrote the fourth part.
-ER, season 1, episode 24: "Motherhood".
-CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, episodes "Grave Danger, Vol. I" and "Grave Danger, Vol. II".
-Several films he (re)wrote the story for, but was not credited for.

The popular choice here is Pulp Fiction, but I'm more of a Reservoir Dogs man m'self. I mean, Pulp Fiction's fantastic, but Reservoir Dogs is where it all began. Tarantino definitely is the 'king of dialogue' as you say. I mean, the 'Like a Virgin' talk? 'nuff said. This movie's got Steve Buscemi, who always brings that great Buscemi-ness to every film he's in. And, of course, there's Michael Madsen's infamous scene, involving an ear. Another classic scene.

I can't say I was a big fan of Natural Born Killers. I appreciated what it was trying to say, but I felt it could've been a lot better had Tarantino been in the director's chair, not Oliver Stone. Tarantino has said so himself.

One thing's for sure, I know what is NOT Tarantino's best movie--Death Proof. He's weakest, without a doubt. Too little happens in that one, although I like the pastiche he was going for with it.

Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are the only two films worth watching again, unless you are looking for a lot of cartoonish violence from Kill Bill. I have always preferred Reservoir Dogs, but I recognize that Pulp Fiction is a more revolutionary film.

Bingo. Though that said, I've enjoyed all of Tarantino's films to some extent with Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill films being those I can get back to the easiest.

Ah, i had a big decision ibtween resevoir dogs and Pulp Fiction, but i decided Pulp Fiction, just liked the story a little bit more. But not to take away anything from Resevoir Dogs, gotta love Steve Buscemi being a hardass haha and yes the Madonna talk at the beggining made me piss haha classic!

For the record, I'm looking forward to Insidious Bastards.

Although most people will say Plup Fiction or Kill Bill, I vote they are equal. I like all his movies, they are Violent and gory, they also have a sort of old-style feel to them. Y'know.

Any way, my favorite was probably Death Proof. I loved the ending, I rewinded it and laughed for like 30 minutes.

Amen to that. Though Robert Rodriguez' Planet Terror was awesome. How strange.

I'm not going to break the streak here, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are his two best. Of the two, I think Pulp Fiction is the best. However, I'm surprised nobody's even mentioned Jackie Brown yet, which I think is an underrated movie.

Let's go into the "archives" in "Washington D.C." and find out how people "masturbated" in the "roaring 20's."

^^ yes i agree with James.K.Polk, Jackie Brown is overshadowed from Pulp and resevoir Dogs

Well they áre really great movies, you know.

And I think the reason why most people don't like Grindhouse is that they don't get it. They are more or less an allusion to B-films, only better and with the makers really being proud of their creation, promoting it and everything.

I haven't seen Death Proof yet, but I've heard from a friend that it is quite good. Though it's not something that makes your mind fuzz. Just plain entertainment, which is no crime.

I really liked True Romance, actually. Tarantino's idea of a romantic film, very heavily favoring things for the guy, really, ha ha. It was bizarre how small Samuel L. Jackson's roll was in this movie, actually. It's like, "...wait a second. He died? Just like that?" I like the situations, and some of the monologues. It also has some really gritty, distressing scenes that make you not feel good watching them
    Spoiler:
Dennis Hopper's death scene and the scene where the girl gets beat up really come to mind.

. Really, I think I care about the characters in this movie more than I do in his other movies (even though he didn't actually direct this one.)I think that's the main reason, actually. Anyhoo...

To be honest, Reservoir Dogs was my epitome of a Tarantino flick. It wasn't too cartoony like Kill Bill or *gasp* From Dusk to Dawn. It wasn't overrated like Pulp Fiction. It had a great cast and plenty of twists.

I also liked Jackie Brown, but slightly less than Reservoir Dogs. For the record, I can't wait to see Inglorious Bastards.

Tarantino is fantastic my favorite is defineately Reservoir Dogs but Natural Born Killer's is defineately second. Everyone I know hates Tarantino and all his movies but I love em they all facinate me.

Grindhouse was pretty good I think I was the only one in my graduating class that thought it was good. Like Ragna stated above they just didnt understand it...

As I've gotten older I've noticed he's not as good as people make him out to be. His early stuff was great but after Pulp Fiction he didn't do anything that good. His first 3 are great, Pulp Fiction is the best. Afterwards then took a turn for the worse. He's always been big on dialogue that's very free floating, but it got amped up from funny and observational (Like a Virgin convo from Reservoir Dogs) to Kill Bill 2 where you want a show down and hear about Super Man comics and feel like stabbing yourself.

When he does decide to write he's not bad, but he should do first cuts of the script not have say over what's in the final cut. Directing? No

So Far, I gotta go with Kill Bill Vol. 1 The most, but Kill Bill Vol. 2 was also good.
I haven't seen most of his films yet, So I cannot really choose any of them quite yet. We will see.

It should be noted that this entire poll has been rendered irrelevant by the sheer mastery of Inglourious Basterds, which not only stands as the best film of the man's career but among the greatest cinematic experiences of the decade. Everything that came before it had it's moments, but Inglourious Basterds is genius defined.

I was expecting a post like this when I saw you posted in this thread.

I'll make a new thread tomorrow, when my girlfriend is not asleep and I can make as much noise typing as I want.

It's a good thing the poll has to be remade though, as Pulp Fiction has become my favourite (again).
