Art has always struck me as a fairly vocational area to go into. It seems like the sort of subject where lots of hands-on experience is more important than a qualification. I'm not sure because I'm not artistic and my art abilities are extremely poor so I haven't really looked into it a great deal.
I still don't recommend Northern universities though. Go to London where you can go out onto the street at weekends and draw large pictures of famous icons on the pavement, and maybe passers-by will toss penny coins at you.

I love the northern english accents! My boyfriend originally came from Manchester but moved to Ringwood when he was about 7 or 8, so he has a lovely slight manc-accent. I really like the geordie accent too. I find if a guy has a northen accent its a bit of a turn-on for me, though I also like the Irish accent, the local accent of my region, and the scottish accent as long as its not too much of a heavy accent.
As for the northern area, Ive never been, but some areas look better than others. Basically all cities, north and south, have some nice areas and some less nice areas. As for painting in London... its a bit too busy to paint and im not interested in city-scape painting. Id like to try painting the Angel of the North at sunset though. Basically if I want to do obsevational art, I go down the New Forest as i live right near it. I prefer doing natural still life things than manufacteured ones.

valentine89, I recommended London because of the sheer number of people walking along the city centre streets. It doesn't have to be city related, I remember walking around in Paris and there was a street artist doing a large chalk picture of some bearded man that I didn't recognize.
Neat ^^. Mines www.myspae.com/kingdom_of_the_elves... fully complete with a cheesy smile from everyone telling me to post more smiley pictures...Originally Posted by Divi-Dead
Cool, i'll remember that. Just not draw a chav... I dont want all my teeth to be knocked out! It would also be kinda intersting to do something I dont normally do. There is some nice architecture around central London, so thatd be kinda cool.Originally Posted by Winter

The schedule for my AS exams last year really annoyed me. On one day I had 3 hours of Physics in the morning then 3 hours of Economics in the afternoon. The rest of my exam period consisted of ridiculously spaced out Maths exams. C1 was sometime in May while C4 was late June, making it the last AS exam in my school by over a week.
I have a Physics Practical Exam and a D1 paper oon Wednesday next week. It should go well and I'm completely relaxed about said exams since I can score 0 in both of them with no detriment to achieving my university offer.
This girl in my year has it worst, due to some of her exams overlapping, she's having to put one exam back to the following morning and as such she's not allowed to be in contact with any of her friends incase they tell her the answers. Soooooo.... Poor girl has to SLEEP OVER at the house of the head of our 6th form to ensure there is no contact. How lame would that be, sleeping at a teachers house...
I'm just glad none of my exams overlap.
That IS bad! Luckily mine are all spaced out. Art was 2 weeks before study leave so we could modify our coursework, andon the first tuesday ofstudy leave we had the Biology core practical review paper. This week I have geography on friday so I have the whole of this week to revise, and then on the 5th of June I have Biology unit 1 and 2, then on the 7th I have chemistry unit 1 and 2. Then je finni!

I've got Biology...at some point...and Business...some time...and History...eventually.
Luckily ICT exam was back in January and I got a good enough result to not have to resit.
I can't wait til these exams are over, I hate them a lot. :\
Yeah I know what you mean... I actually find the preperation worse than the actual exam. Im ok once im doing it, but the preliminary revision and stuff really gets me down.

I've never revised for an exam in my life, I think thats my main problem with exams. When I get in there I always do well because I'm naturally clever, I'm just not so sure about these AS exams, the think is since I've never done revision I don't know how to actually do any. My cleverness is my downfall unfortunately.
I'm always sure to revise. I've discovered the best way for me to revise it so write stuff down again. I pretty much copy my notes onto paper and read through them again.
I've got about 3 weeks to revise until my first exam on june the 9ths (I think). Fun.
What REALLY sucks is having an exam the day after my birthday. I had that last year too. Bah.
Back. For a while. Maybe.
By posting below this text you hereby pledge unquestionable servitude to Neo Necron
Well then Joeeeeeee, you picked the wrong day to have your birthday methinks. I'm lucky in a way, my Birthday is on August 28th so not only do I not have exams, I never have school on me birthday. Bad thing is, I'm virtually youngest in my year at school.
My birthdays July 20th, so its after the exams, but its also about 2 days before the start of the summer holidays... kinda tedious. Divi you are one lucky ducker!
And Joee... you think youre having it bad? My friend Jo's birthday wason the day of her physics AS exam!

Hey... can I join?
I live in England, the weather is crap here too, and us Europeans rule
You think general studies is bad? I don't know if anyone else does, but at my school we either do general studies or critical thinking. Which is basically arguing with the exam, only all the words mean something different to what they actually do in real life and its basically impossible to get above a "U" in the exam. My teacher didn't even bother teaching at all, we just watched The Office all yearOriginally Posted by Divi-Dead
I would of preferred "Critical Thinking", I'm mint at arguing, but the paper for General Studies was on Global Warming and to be honest, I don't know the facts on it or nowt. Worst bit is I've still not done any revision and only have 9 days or something til 6 hours of exams. (Biology and Business)
Yeah, I've got AS business too. Along with ICT and product design. Critical thinking sucked though, if you don't structure your argument exactly and include particular terms, you don't get the marks. And like I said, we weren't taught anything. I even bought my own textbook, revised loads, but I've still probably failed lol.
I can see why it appeals; I took it coz I thought "wow, arguing, fun!". But it's not fun lol... it's just difficult. Last year, only 3 people got above a "U" in my school.
Hehehee.
I seem to be the only one here that doesn't have exams or tests in school anymore.
It's a bit late, but I might go get into college... I'm an artist and I want more insight, dammit.
