    Hey guys, I return.

Been inactive for the last year so I'll quickly give you a rundown of my favourite Nintendo stuff for the last year.

    Nintendo Wii - Brilliant.
    Twilight Princess - Awesome.
    Pokemon Diamond - Addictive
    Metroid Prime Hunters - <3
Super Paper Mario - Bought, yet to play.

So anyway, yeah, I'm back and planning on being more active this time around.

...I like how inactive this club has become. I claim to have little time to do anything, and I'm dominating this page Welcome back btw, Divi-Dead.

Maybe it's because there's kinda a lack of new good games coming out for the Wii. Not much to discuss. I mean, Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy are coming out soon, and Metroid Prime 3 is out now, but other than that...

I'm still at the beginning of Twilight Princess because I can not catch a damned fish. I caught an initial fish and have caught the cat's attention, but I have not been able to catch a second one. I've been told that I need to jar the bee larva and use it as bait with my rod in order to catch one... but where do I get a jar? And how come I was able to catch a fish without one? The walkthrus on Gamefaqs say you just need to catch one fish and then catch another one. Blargh. I like how my friend put it best: "You're supposed to be enjoying this huge epic story... and you're stuck catching a fish." Dammit.

I also haven't touched Wii Sports yet. Anyhoo...

Haha!! Taco, guess what! You are no longer dominating this page muahaha!!!

I'm glad to be back at TFF, I might not have time to be very active, but I should at least post a little more then never as of now, with this club being my priority.

Firstly about the fish thing Taco, I am at least 99% sure that you do not need to get any bee lure for your rod, I'm also sure you don't need to do anything because I caught a fish immediately after I got the rod and then straight away caught a second fish without move a step. Sorry if this dosn't help but I'm pretty sure you should be able to catch a second fish, check the manual as you may not know how to do it and got lucky the first time. I'm not insulting your competance as a gamer (Don't hit me) I'll confess I had trouble using the fishing rod myself at first and I got stuck at the fishing bit because the damn cat started following me and I thought I had to take it somewhere, took me an hour to realise I was wrong. Good Luck with the fishing Taco.

In other news I've played Super Paper Mario halfway through and I'm quite disapointed, If you liked 1000 year door, You'll discover that on Super Paper Mario they have chainsawed the RPG elements we all enjoyed so much and made it almost entirely a 2D platformer. There are no badges, you can't choose what you want to level up, the game does it for you and many others. I beleive the game now has merit as a 2D platformer and not an RPG, so don't say I didn't warn you.

Finally I want to tell you all about my new channel on Youtube where I review games using video footage I collected myself and this includes both old and new games. As a nintendo fanboy I don't think I'll be able to help dominating it with nintendo games, so please check it out. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=VGVR It just so happens I'm going to upload a review for Super Paper Mario tomorrow, so you can hear more of what I think there.

    Hail Nintendo

Currently Playing: Chrono Trigger, Super Paper Mario, Final Fantasy V

Nah, just kidding. Thankee for the advice, however. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually... heh. The thing is, I've read how you're supposed to fish and I've tried that, but it doesn't seem to work for me. The fish are like, "No."

In other news, I bought Super Mario 64 off the Virtual Console yesterday. I then went to buy something else, and my Wii's internet connection promptly gave me a big "fuck you." Yay... Oh well.

Can you get Chrono Trigger on the VC, though? I want to play it again... I'm half tempted to get Breath of Fire 2, as well. Anyhoo...

The fish can talk!! Wow!! j/k

    http://www.vc-reviews.com/available_now.php

According to this list it dosn't look like Chrono trigger is on the virtual console, that's a shame. But they have Breath of Fire II. I'm guessing you knew that already though.

I played Chrono Trigger recently and I used Chrono, Robo and Ayla as my team. Interesting combination the power of the prehistoric and the futuristic.

Well, I know this isn't Nintendo related.

Did anyone watch an awesome movie called Superbad. One of the best movies I've seen this year I rekon.

I finally caught the damned fish last week when I took my Wii over to my friend's house, and everyone was watching me. I caught it on the first try. Then, I couldn't catch another one. Since that time, I've played Twilight Princess up to revisiting that forest place in the shadow realm. I really like what I've played so far.

At the same time, I've been playing Breath of Fire 2 (yeah, I knew it was available. Heh.) Downloaded it last week, along with Kirby's Adventure and the internet channel. I've gotten to Windia, and I have Katt, Nina, and Sten in my party. I played this back in 2001 (actually about the time I first started coming to TFF... woah.) So I remember a lot about it. I'm going to try to do certain scenarios different this time to see what happens. Anyhoo...

Yay Taco, now if only you could cook the fish up and celebrate your victory properly. That would be Awesome

I actually tried playing Breath of Fire, don't remember which one. For a few hours and for some reason I thought it was quite boring. I think I found the character development to be too basic, like you just level up and gain stats and spells. But I can see that a lot of people like it, so now I wonder if I should play it again.

So how does it compare to Final Fantasy in terms of story and options?

Oh, also I'm looking for a certain game to review on the Super Nintendo. Heh, I'm looking for the worst game ever on it. So anyone got suggestions for the worst game in history for the Snes?

hey look i'm here and not somewhere else! i bought a ps3, does that mean that i'm going to hell? it's amazing though, what a better system the wii is. obviously the graphics/scope of a game like warhawk is simply impossible on the wii hardware - but when i plugged in my ps3 for the first time, there was a good half hour wait installing firmware/installing game components before i could get my first crack at virtua fighter 3. there's so much rig-a-maroll to go through before you can even get into the game the first time you load it it's retarded.

the wii is just so much slicker - if only it had just a little more graphical juice. then again, i think super mario galaxy will change a lot of people's opinions on what the wii is truly capable of...

SeTzertrANcer: I would say that the way you described the character development of whatever BoF game you played reminds me much of the first Breath of Fire. The characters pretty much had no character development whatsoever. It was like "I am the representative of this race/area. I am going to help you on your quest now." I would say that Breath of Fire 2 definitely had better character development than the original. I would also say that it doesn't compare to games like Final Fantasy 6 as far as story and character development go, however. It's still a fairly fun game, and definitely more lighthearted than FF6 (although it has an interesting twist as far as the main villain goes... interesting, blatant, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.)

postalblowfish7: Welcome back, bruthah! Haven't seen you around for some time. I hope all is well in over-there-land.

While I was in Yellowstone this Summer, my roommate got a PS3. He played a lot of Resistence: the Fall of Man, Fear, and we both played a lot of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (I can't help but enjoy that series. Every time I play one of the games in the series, it claims a little more ownership of my soul...) He got other games too, but I never saw him play them much. I was very impressed with Resistence; it looked like a lot of fun. It was even fun to watch. Made me want to see Aliens again. Of course, I also enjoyed Oblivion immensely. At one point, I had to stop myself from playing it, though... it was consuming all my free time (when my roommate wasn't playing it.)

I'm looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy as well. Actually, I'll just be honest and say the biggest reason I got my Wii was so that I could play Smash Bros. Brawl. Anyhoo...

So where's all the othe homies at, like Maxpower, oh and is GLC, aka General Le,o aka Dyluck etc, still around. As great as it is that I'm one of the only people posting here I remember the good days when I could post 4 times more often cause everyone else was. We gotta revive this awesome club dudes.

I've been watching a series of videos on Gametrailers.com called Top Tens, where they talk about the top 10 so and sos in gaming. http://www.gametrailers.com/screwattack.php I saw this one called Top Ten 2D shooter and they put U.N. Squadron at number 1. Please I know as game that beat every game they had on that list, Tyrian for the PC. It is still to this days the best 2D shooter I've ever play and was released in 1997 I think. I had the biggest selection of weapons every, that looked cool, not simply bullets going in different directions and a story mode with an actual story. It was Awesome, you'll see I wrote a review for it in my signiture.

anyway that my update for today

    Hail Nintendo!

Clearly, that's not going to happen. We're the only two bothering to post in here on a consistent basis. Everyone else is "too cool for school" to post in here anymore. Or possibly on TFF at all.

Anyhoo, I reserved my copy of Brawl the other day. $20 down, because I felt like it. I also downloaded Yoshi's Story and DKC 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. I appreciate both. Anyhoo...

Yay I made the 700th post, that's awesome.

@Taco (Who else) Yeah looks like I had the bad luck of coming back to TFF at a pretty inactive time.

I always enjoyed retro gaming but a recent development has taken it to a new level. Multiplayer Retro Gaming. A mate I mine got a PC contoller and we have started playing Snes classics. Good thing too I was getting bored of playing just RPGs on my own. We are going to be trying out Double Dragon and Contra III next time. We also LAN played Starcraft, awesome stuff.

Well then, there's likely a new fastest character in the Smash Brothers universe, and his name is Sonic. Check it. I will likely still play as Fox, but yeah. Anyhoo...

who's too cool for school? i can take a hint

yeah, sonic in SSBB - wtf??? my head twisted 360 degrees and fell off this morning when i did my morning IGN check. all of the rivalries of my childhood are being transformed into the cross-over dreams of my adulthood. mario and sonic at the olympics makes me *yyyaaawwwwwnnnn* in comparison to this announcement (both mario and sonic being in a game that isn't going to be extremely boring).

on an unrelated note, i've been playing a lot of myst lately - and it was just recently that myst is coming to the DS much to my pleasured surprise. the only question i have: real time 3D or point and click adventure????????? they're supposedly including the bonus age from realMYST - so does that intrinsically imply that the ds game will also be real time? they could do it - i swear to god they could...

Not just you. You notice how our club leaders haven't posted here in weeks? I'm gonna go on a personal man hunt of Max Power, tie him up and drag him back here. Then I'm gonna be like "What do you think of this?" and make him answer like five thousand questions before I let him leave again. Or maybe I'll hunt down GLC or Geomancer, our Vice President and President.

I dunno; I've just been disappointed in this forum in general as of late. TFF is like dead lately. I'm probably not helping either, but oh well.

I actually wasn't really that surprised that Sonic was announced for Brawl. Months ago, the president of Sega was interviewed, and he was like "It sounds like a very good idea!" And it was. Sonic is like the most wanted character, I think, according to some poll or another. Then again, according to some poll or another, Mr. Game and Watch and the Ice Climbers were the most wanted characters to come back... in Japan. *thumbs up*

In other news for me, I made a CD of rpg music. Most of it was from FFXII, because I love that soundtrack. Particularly the Phon Coast, the Estersand, the Esper Battle, the Boss Battle, and the Clash of Swords. Fun stuff. Anyhoo...

I was hoping Sonic would be included. I grew up with Sonic being my favourite game mascot when I was young. I remember that I must have clocked Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 3 over a hundred times. It was according to a official thread Nintendo posted in their forums where they asked what characters they should include and Sonic was th 1st most requested character. Also I have a question are they really not going to include all the original characters. They had better, except the crappy clone characters like Ganondorf and Dr. Mario. What they should do though is keep Ganondorf and Young Link but actually change them into stand alone characters. Ganons moves mirroring Capt. Falcon was a stupid idea and does not suit Ganons true abilities at all. Young link could become like Pkm Trainer and Zelda and actually use 3 masks to become a Deku, Goron and Zora. That would be awesome.

I recently made 3 CDs of video game remixes from OCremix, com. and gave them to my mate to prove to them how good the site was. It included remixes from a variety of games. You dudes should try that site some good quality stuff can be found there.

Our Leader, Persident and Vice President all gone. What is the world coming to. Give people power and they always become corrupt, lol j/k

I believe that all the original characters (from Super Smash Bros. 64) are to be included, and certain characters from Melee are not. I'm not sure if this is supported by anything, or if it simply got repeated so often by fans that it became "fact," but that is what is said (I mean, I think I might've seen it on a news page like once, but I couldn't tell you if that source was true.) Also from some source or another, the clones are supposed to be either removed or decloned.

Personally, I'm waiting for more Star Fox characters. And possibly Geno. Even though that is highly unlikely.

As for the OC Remix site; yes, that is a good site. I like to download stuff off there every once in a while. I try to look for the sugar-coated poppy video game themes that have simply been given a drum beat and have been speeded up or whatever usually (I have a couple Bubble Bobble remixes and a Boy and His Blob remix) but sometimes I like other stuff on there. Anyhoo...

If Wii had a bigger library I would've gotten one by now, but I don't know, SSBB is looking really sweet and I loved the original.

Btw, yes, I'm technically back, lol. Seeing as my other clan is having some fun around here I suppose I can get active again for the NW and the entire site. In which I'll bring you some awesome news first.

Anyone ever played Act Raiser? I bought it about a month ago and finally decided to pick it up now. Beat it in out 2 days from stop and play moments, but I must say it's a rather addicting game even though some the levels are repetitive or just flat out annoying. Took me about 3 tries to finish the Death Heim stage as the hyped up bosses were a bit crazy. After beating it I made a new game, lol.

So yeah, has anyone played it?

EDIT: Whoops, I guess you threw me off the member's list when I left, lol. Do I have to redo the top 5 games list? This is Griffith btw.

I have no idea how that works, man. But I personally have no qualms with you posting here, especially since you were a member back in the day. You could repost your top 5 if you wanted to, though. That'd be cool. *thumbs up*

As for Act Raiser, I saw that on VC and thought about downloading it. Maybe I will, some day. I've heard really good things about it, but I've yet to play it. Still playing Twilight Princess, in any case. Anyhoo...

In that case, time for a revising of the list!

    1. Killer Instinct (SNES)
    2. Super Mario Bro's 3 (NES)
    3. Street Fighter II: Turbo (SNES)
    4. Super Mario Cart (SNES)
    5. Castlevania 3 (NES)
    6. Legend of Zelda (NES)

I added 6 because it's hard limiting a list of only 5 games from Nintendo, lol. They're not in any order, but I enjoy them the most. Shit, I've been playing K.I. lately and boy is my thumb purple. My left hand gets a good work out constantly going all over the place XD.

OH, I should probably also mention that awhile back my friend traded me his SNES2, Genesis, and Dreamcast for my DS + pokemon, lol. Given I had a buy some wires for some systems, I've been playing them almost nonstop ever since.

Trading the DS though strangely wasn't very heartbreaking for me. I honestly wasn't enjoying the whole stylus thing even if it is innovating for handheld games. I just have a hard time getting into something that doesn't have the normal controller setup [d-pad/thumb sticks + buttons + shoulders buttons]. I mean it just sort of feels cheap to me, ya know? Using a stylus is like putting the gun next to the arcade screen when playing a shoot'em up.

Anyway, it's good to be back and hopefully Nintendo won't let me down in the future...such as keeping my thumb sore.

@Behemoth, I thought the DS was great and you'll find that the best games, pokemon, castlevania, Harvest Moon and other, hardly used the touch screen at all or gave you the option. On the other hand some games that forced you to use the stylus like Theme Park, Simcity and Advance Wars (didn't force you but was better then not) used the stylus technology very well. I find it great for point and click strategy games like those. I'm actually enjoying my DS more then my Wii at the moment, because I think it has better games. But your entitled to you opinion of course, Still I think your trade was worth it, those old consoles could be worth something as they get rarer. Never played Act Raiser.

For the first time I've started playing Final Fantasy VII on the PC, so it's the PC version not a rom and I found it's almost Identical to the PSX version, except it seems so far to have crappier sound and videos. Though that could be because my computer isn't old enough, that can cause older game to work worse beleive it or not. Also some of the dialogue seem slightly different, though that could just be me remembering it wrong. One thing I was surprised by was that it didn't support the mouse, you had to use a keyboard or gamepad. So yeah this'll be about my 12th or so play through of 7, it's just an awesome game. So now i'm getting FFVIII for PC and a surprising thing I noticed is that FFVII takes up 1.01 GB and FFVIII a huge 2.80 GB (zipped). You can see there is a huge difference between the size of the games there. I suppose FFVIII had much better graphics, but wow. If only there was an FFIX for PC as I no longer have it for the PSX and the only posible way I could get my hands on it would be Ebay or something.

the wii is kinda shaping up to be a weird mix of the psx and n64 as far as support. like the n64 it has AMAZING first party titles here and on the way (mario galaxy, SSBB, wario ware, zelda, etc.), and a whole lot of really crummy 3rd party licensed game/just 3rd party crap in general like the original psx. while this is the sign of a system that's selling well, it sucks that nintendo's relationship with 3rd parties can't produce the amazing results it used to (banjo kazooie, final fantasy IV-VI, etc.) the original playstation had some breakthrough 3rd party titles and just a few good 1st party titles.

sure there are a lot of wii games, the it can be sifted down to just a handfull of truly "must play" games - all of them 1st party titles. just like the N64. i'd like to see better, non-animated or motion picture related games for the Wii.

The DS on the other hand has had heaps of great 3rd party titles, in my opinion. Why is this I wonder? It has nearly always been the way you described for Nintendo.

and when it a real swordplay game going to come out for the Wii, Soul Caliber Legends seems to be promising this, but so did Red Steel and it did not deliver.

I have pretty much developed a phobia of movie-related games. When I see them, it dosn't matter how much I love the movie I will even give movie games a second look, because every single one I've ever played has been a sub standard piece of poo of a game.

Let's start a new topic now, Mario Kart for Wii, what should it be like?

If Mario Kart for the Wii is ever made the most likely thing they'll do is make some "steering wheel" if they haven't already. Since the whole thing with the wii is to be "inventing" with future gameplay abilities, that would be the most logical assumption. I wouldn't mind that though, lol. Probably it will be a slight step up from Mario Kart DS in terms of graphics with some added features.

As for the DS itself, meh, I know there's a lot of good games on it, it's just they're either sequels or remakes of the old games like the final fantasy series. That honestly irritates and bores me since I've either played the games before or the games don't offer too many new things. Maybe another day I'll get a new DS, but for now I'll expand myself out to new other things. Got me some quake wars and the orange box too . Other than that, I'll stick to retro gaming until the Wii gets a bigger library of games I can play for more then a few hours.

They have. Or rather Joytech has, apparently.

I haven't played my Wii much this week. Just for a few minutes here and there. I didn't play Twilight Princess at all, either. Been busy with hanging out with friends and going to work, or something.

My friend did get Resident Evil 4 and Sonic and the Secret Rings (or whatever) for his Wii, however, and they both look pretty fun. I played the Sonic game for a little while and I liked it. The most awesome part is when Sonic falls down a bottomless pit or whatever and says "Oh no..." It's like "I'm disappointed that I'm falling to my doom..."

I wanna get that Bleach game. I heard it got some good reviews. Anyhoo...

latest SSBB news... A LEVEL EDITOR!!!

i can hardly believe it - how much can nintendo actually pack into this game?? it's definitely worth all of the delays if they keep piling features like this on top of the already mind-numbing hugeness of the thing. i can't wait!

At this rate if they keep updating the site until the day the game comes out. Smash Bros. will have so many features they'll have to release it on several disks. Yesterday when I went onto the Smash Bros. Dojo and saw the level editor would have to be one of the happiest days of my life. It's probably going to be the best game ever made. I mean no matter how many time me and my mate have been playing SSBM we still keep going back to it every now and then and enjoying it immensely. I think I'm looking forward to Brawl more then any game ever.

In other news I've actually been playing Zelda: Windwaker for the first time recently, as I never owned a gamecube and now with my Wii I've been catching up on that generation of Nintendo game. In reviews I kept on reading that it was too short, dosn't seem that way to me as I've played it continuously for 2 days and I've only just finished the 2nd visit for forsaken fortress. I suppose Í've been exploring the sea a lot, but you have too just to afford the prices for getting the triforce chart deciphered. My only problem was the boring sailing sequences. But now that I have the Cyclone song thats not much of a problem anymore. I was getting quite worried that I was never going to get anything to shortcut with for a while there.

After that I plan on playing the DS Zelda, seeing as it's a sequal I swore to finish WW first. In reviews I heard that it's the easiest Zelda game to date. I hope not I'm sick of how easy they've been getting since they went 3D. On TP I could could on one hand the number of times I was stumped for more then 30 seconds. On 2D zelda games like awakening I would not be able to survive without a walkthrough. Why are they doing this I know they want 5 year olds to play their games, but come on!

I have yet to play a Zelda that was easier than the very first one. But then again, I've played LoZ so many times that I know every secret to both quests and where everything is hidden.

On a side note. I finally got me a DS Lite on Saturday. I got Glory Days 2 to go with it. Not a great game IMO. So I've been playing alot of Advance Wars on it.

Dudes I found a very interesting, but ANNOYING glitch on Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Master Quest/ Gamecube bonus disc. (just in case all this factored into the glitch). Anyway I was upto when you find Zelda in Hyrule Castle early in the game and I found out I had to go somewhere very soon, so I rushed through all of Zelda's talking and save the game and turned it off. When I loaded my game later on, I started in Kokiri Forest. I was like 'what!' So I checked my quest screen and I didn't have Zelda's Lullaby, no surprise since I didn't speak to Impa. So I assumed I would just have to sneak into the castle again. But when I got there the guards were now stationed right at the entrace as if I had finished at the castle. So I now had a screwed up game without Zelda's Lullaby and now no posible way to get it. My only option was to start over. I wonder if I discovered a new glitch.

I've also been playing the DS Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and it is cool. The game is 100%stylus controlled and they did it well. Also it's one of the freshest Zelda's in terms of it's puzzles and dungeons, because they all involve solutions specific to the touch screen that couldn't be posible anywhere else. There is one particular ingenious one, that really got me with a very unexpected solution. As much as I won't to say it, I don't want to say it. I havn't gotten very far and only have 3 items. The Boomerang, Bombs and Shovel. The boomerang is really cool because it is controlled by drawing it's path of the screen and yes you could probably spell out your name, I could. My only issue with it is that the dungeons are very short and at the rate I'm speeding through it whenever I play it. It dosn't look like it will be very long. But then again I havn't gotten very far. I could find out I still have 8 dungeons to go for all I know. If you have any questions about it I'll gladly use them as an excuse to post, lol.

    So... been a while. Yes.

The other day, I went to buy that Bleach game the other day when I got my check... only it wasn't there anymore. I've been told it is a fast seller. Interesting. I vant to play et.

Also, been playing more of Twilight Princess. I've been playing like every Monday or Tuesday, for some reason, and not the rest of the week... kinda odd. I've gotten to the beginning of the Water Temple, but I gotta figure out how to get inside. Yay.

The game has become much more enjoyable once I got out of the first area and into the Death Mountain area, somehow. Or maybe it's just me. I really liked the Death Mountain dungeon, though, and I enjoyed running around Hyrule Field. It is big, although I may be spoiled, because when I think "expansive," I think Morrowind or Oblivion, and this game does not come to mind in the same breath. Yet.

I've also played around a bit with the new "Check Mii Out!" channel. Also, a week or so ago on smashbros.com, there was a new video featuring Fox and Diddy Kong. I thought it rocked. Although I'm hearing he's been "nerfed" really bad for the new game... I don't give a shit, I'm still gonna use him. Anyhoo...
