Thread: Nintendo Worshippers

Vice-Prez Cyrus reporting for duty my Nintendo Worshiping brethren.

Ah sorry for my few day absence. My stupid "cumcast" internet service has been acting up again like usual and my internet has been out since Tuesday. This damn modem is a piece of crap and my internet goes out on a regular basis usually a few times a week. Sometimes it'll be out for a few hours, sometimes for the day, sometimes for a few days. I have a repairman coming today to hopefully replace our old modem though.

Anyhoo, yeah Radical Dreamers can be boring..well it is really boring for sure. Once you get the hang of it it's not too difficult, I remember it took me awhile to beat it normally the first time. Once I did though, I just used FAQs and saving with my *cough*cough* emulator at the right times to get all the other endings. It's a really short game if you know what you are doing, I think I got all the endings in one day. The only good thing for me is seeing Magus in that game since he is absent from Chrono Cross though he was intended to be in the game. But yeah, die hard Chrono fans need only apply, everyone else would probably fall asleep. I'd like to try out more of the satellaview games, but it sounds like they won't work right by what you are saying DarkDragoon.

I'm liking that everyone's list is up now and all the other unactive members are grouped separately. I just wonder what happened to SetzerTrancer since he was just posting back in January or so. We still got a good active group going on for sure though. And on that note..

Let us welcome Helter Skelter once again! It's good to see you join the club, I'm definitely liking your list too. I'm glad somebody else has Mario 64 on their list, but that to me was one hell of an awesome game. Old schoolers definitely rule though, and classic rock fans too! There aren't enough of those around here either unfortunately.

But yeah I'm still ANXIOUSLY awaiting my SNES ac adapter, two controllers, and Mario Golf. As soon as I get those, I'm going to try to play through all the games on Super Mario Allstars (try to finally beat Lost Levels) and POSSIBLY start a new game in Link to the Past. Oh yeah and Crystallis for the NES would be amazing, If I got the FC Twin console, that'd one of the first games I'd get. Let's hope it gets released for the VC. *crosses fingers*

    Happy posting all!

PS. Does anyone get lazy when they get to the end of the a game? I've been at the very end of Rogue Galaxy for a week or two, and I just haven't picked the game up to beat it. It's like I don't want to beat the game or something..I have to soon to get into something else though!

Yeah. This happens to me quite a bit, actually. Although it's happened more with games I've already beaten before. Like, I've recently played to the end of Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy 6 again, but then after that, either another game has caught my eye, or... I dunno. *shrug* I think in FF6's case, though, I was leaving for a while. Although I've also gotten to the very end of OoT. I'm at Ganondorf's Castle in my save file. I've just never actually gotten any further than the first several dungeons where you have to get the electric thing that's blocking something in the main room to dissipate, or whatever. I can't figure out the puzzles in those. I also got near the end of Star Ocean 2 and Wild Arms 2... but those games freaking go on forever. Actually, I only got a little ways into the second disk of each. Too long; too much not knowing where the hell you're going in Wild Arms 2's case, and in Star Ocean 2's case, too much leveling.

Something along the lines of Zelda; an action RPG. Except the more you kill things, the more you leveled up. There also wasn't a main map, so you'd run from area to area, basically. And you could shoot things with your sword. You also bought better armor, shields, etc. So... I dunno. Kinda a cross between Dragon Quest 1 and Zelda, I suppose. Except probably a bigger world to explore than either. Anyhoo...

*Using my mothers new laptop because she wanted me to set it up, because, well, shes computer illiterate XD*

How goes it folks , I hope everyone is up to no good, because, I know I am not up to any good . Anyways, as El Taco said, Crystalis was kind of a Zelda esq, except, there was leveling, far more items, and what seemed to be a more vast world than any of the Zelda games of its time. The intro kind of remided me of Mega Man though, because, the main character was made by a scentist, and its basically the same concept, you control a human looking robot to try and save the world kind of thing. Yeah, as similar in story it is, the gameplay is a bit more Zelda, as was stated twice now XD.

Anywho, I am currently almost all the way through FFVIA, been taking it slow... the item to get Gilgamesh... Excalapoor... is 500k Gil.... thats a lot >.>;;. And Leviathan is no pushover, either. I can't wait until my Cursed Sheild turns into a Paliden Sheild, or whatever its called in here, its annoying I have to relearn all the item names OVER again...

    Anywho, keep up the Oldskool... er... I mean the Nintendo playing ;

Well the last few days for me have been non stop Nintendo days. I finally got my SNES AC adapter, two new controllers, and Mario Golf for Nintendo 64 in the mail. I immediately picked up Super Mario Allstars to start my mission of beating every game.

I've started out with Super Mario Bros 2 because I figured it might be one of the easier ones to beat of the bunch. I made it to the sixth world as of now, I should have made it to the seventh but I died at the final boss of the sixth world ! There are only seven worlds though so hopefully I'll be done with that soon. I then went for Super Mario Bros 3, I cheated my way to the 8th world using the flutes, but that is always hard. Playing that way is too hard because you have close to no items to use. I made it through all the beginning ship levels and to the actual numbered levels of the eighth world, but that's really the hardest part of all and I have close to no items to use.

My friend then came over yesterday and brought U.N. Squadron. It had been awhile since we played it, but decided to see if we could beat the game. We got to the last level with no continues left, then died after finally making it to the final boss! With my SNES back in action though, I've been thinking of purchasing some old games that I haven't beaten. As of now I have A LOT of snes games, most are rpgs though. I recently got Battle Toads in Battle Maniacs, Battle Toads/Double Dragon, and Legend of the Mystical Ninja off of amazon. Does anyone else have any good game ideas? I'm mostly looking for non rpg titles, multi player games if possible.

Well, as in finally getting a NES after many years of being nintendo-less (Well, mainly the NES, lol. I lost mine in a flood when I was a kid =\). Where do I sign up here?

As for my top list of games, let me put them down in the number of 10 .

    1. Castlevania (NES)
    2. Super Mario Bro's 3 (NES)
    3. Final Fantasy 2 (or IV in this case - NES)
    4. Street Fighter II: Turbo (SNES)
    5. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
    6. Super Mario Cart (SNES)
    7. Mortal Kombat 2 (SNES
    8. Mortal Kombat (SNES)
    9. Starfox (SNES)
    10. Legend of Zelda (NES)

There's probably a few I left out but I think 10 is big enough for you guys, lol.

  6. #546
This is definitely the place to sign up Behemoth..or should I say Seraith or possibly even Griffith! Welcome to the Nintendo Worshippers! Let us all praise Shigeru Miyamoto.

I'm really liking the old school list, 10 is definitely enough but I guess I should have stated the rules better. I originally did my list as only first and second party Nintendo games, but the way DarkDragoon did it is he included third party games that were exclusive to nintendo consoles. So either of those two ways is fine, the only ones that wouldn't follow those guidelines are FF IV, Chrono Trigger, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Castlevania. So I guess you could edit the top 10 if you want, though removing those 5 leaves 5 exactly. Needless to say if Chrono Trigger was a Nintendo exclusive title, it'd be my top game.

That's awesome you have a NES again. I had one awhile ago, but it is definitely out of commission. I've been toying around with the idea of buying a new one, but I didn't have too many games for the console anyway. I think If my SNES ever stops working, I'll get the FC Twin console that plays both NES and SNES games.

@Ranger Yeah it is fun...and If you have a Nintendo 64 I'd definitely recommend the original Mario Golf. It's developed by Camelot who were responsible for the original Hot Shots golf games, so the gameplay is basically identical. It's got A LOT of characters to unlock, several different modes including mini golf, and four player support.

Yeah UN Squadron is a pretty hard game but my friend I have been playing it for years...talking about hard though, those Battle Toads games will be REALLY hard. I don't think I've gotten past the second or third level in them before.

Killer Instinct could be a good idea for sure..I have Mario Kart and Super Metroid already though, two of my favorites on the system as well. I'd really like to get a Super Gameboy, I used to rent one when I was little, I'm sure I could find one on amazon. Legend of the Mystical Ninja should be REALLY fun..great two player support and it's just like one of my favorite Nintendo 64 games, Goemon's Great Adventure. I'd recommend checking it out if you have a Nintendo 64, great old school two player 2D sidescrolling action but in 3D!

Haha, wow, nice list there, you only needed 5 games, but, hey, pickers can't be choosers or something intelligent like that. Anywho, I definitely like your list, .

Anywho, I just beat FFVI A today, after obtaining all the Espers in the game(except Diablos), and I managed to steal both the Ultima(Atma) weapon, and the Ragnarok hidden on those two bosses . Yay me . The new dungeon is... challenging... well, mainly because I have to basically use the same groups I used in Kefka's Tower, as it forces you to make 3 parties -_-;;, so, I had to use most of the characters I never use... against somewhat difficult bosses... it is a pain... -_-;;.

I still need to find the second dungeon though, I have only found the Dragon's Den.

    Ciao

So there's TWO extra dungeons? Very interesting indeed, what is the point of them? Is it any relevance to the story or the classic random end of game kind of dungeons? Do you have to fight all the different dragons in the Dragons Den or something?

Congrats on beating the game though, did you like the changes it made to the game (dialog and magic names) or do you like the original versions better?

Me? I was a Woosly fan, haha, of course I hated the changed in Dialogue, and items.

Of course, I can't say they were badly done, I just kind of miss the Woosly touch on the game, It was one of the things that made the game memorable. But, they did keep the "You people sound like the lines out of a self help manual" in, so, that made me happy, but, they changed a few lines, like "Son of a Sandworm (originally Submariner), and none of the items are the same, oh well.

And, from what I understand, the new dungeons, the first being the Dragons den, provides new equipment, though, the only dragon I have beaten so far is the first, and got a new weapon for Setzer, I am pretty sure that all the characters that have special weapons, get new ones .

Anyways, it was worth the purchase, well, to me, because FFVI is my favorite game out of the series, still. Anywho, enough blabbering out of me, I am going to try to (eventually) play through those new dungeons XD.

    Ciao

Well, I don't really go by what party the game is. I just remember playing it on either the NES or SNES and personally I don't care which, lol. Let me edit my list to go by the guidelines of course.

    1. Super Mario Bro's 3 (NES)
    2. Street Fighter II: Turbo (SNES)
    3. Super Mario Cart (SNES)
    4. Starfox (SNES)
    5. Legend of Zelda (NES)

So in terms of being first and second party games this is my list.

Anyway yeah, I am SO happy to have an NES once again as I missed it dearly for years. That and the fact that it sells for 70-90$ these days so I didn't feel like shoving out that amount of cash to bring back old memories. So just three days ago my dad is cleaning out a closet of my old room (for which my sister's ex-husband lived in for awhile) and found an NES with both controllers, the zapper gun, and a shitload of games. However, I had to buy a new adapter and switch since we couldn't find that one. Pretty much though my sister's ex forgot it and well since he stole a very valuable item from me (which was worth 500$) I decided he didn't need his NES . Took awhile to get it working though, lol. I'll also eventually get the SNES and such and hopefully find my Genesis around the house. Then the fun begins. Sadly I missed out on the N64 back in the day so I haven't gone through any of the great games (except SSB and Starfox), I was pretty damn poor, lol.

    Nintendo ftw.

  11. #551
Nice, I'm liking the list! Long live the old school! Nintendo ftw for sure.

Yeah I feel your joy because I finally got my SNES back in action by getting a new AC adapter because my friend lost my old one. With that, and two new controllers because my other two were worn in horribly, I feel like I have a whole new system. The reason why I don't get a new NES is because It would be so damn expensive like you said though.

If you hadn't already gotten a NES, I'd say you check out the FC Twin Console, since it plays both NES and SNES games and is only 41 dollars new. It's a completely legal console, emulation is perfect, and while all SNES accessories work, the only problem with the console is some of the NES accessories like the lightgun don't work with it. That's definitely not good because of games like Duck Hunt. I feel like it'd be a waste for me too since I already own a SNES. There are a good deal of good Nintendo 64 games, I personally like the NES and SNES better though. If you ever get a Wii, I think a lot of the classic Nintendo 64 games will be available through the VC, though maybe not all of them.

@DarkDragoon, Yeah I am a bit of a Woosly fan myself. I think some of the dialogue could have been better, but I definitely would miss the classic translation I know so well. Plus from what it sounds, not only is the magic changed, but the currency, and equipment is too. I guess they had to make it fit in with all the other games, but I still love the original version and don't think there is anything too wrong with it.

    NOSTALGIA!!!

Wow. Reading through this page of the thread makes me happy. Congratulations on re-obtaining an NES, Behemoth! I don't know if my NES would still work if I hooked it up... the last time I remember playing it was in 2003, playing Crystalis, which I had just found again. Stupidly, I had sold it long ago when we were saving up money to get an SNES... I regreted that decision for years. One time I saw it new for like $5, but I had no money, and my parents would not loan me the $5, nor would they even let my sister, who had been willing to. Arrgh!! Just thinking about it now pisses me off, and I was pretty upset then, too. "Childhood memories are not important, Tom! Not even when all they would cost us is the price of a value meal at a fast food restaurant!" Then again, if I remember correctly, I think they were trying to teach me a lesson about not spending all my money right away, or something. But still... blarg.

Reading about the new Final Fantasy 6 for the advance makes me wish I had an advance. I want to play those new dungeons! Then again, I get the feeling that it totally would not be the same as playing the game on my good ol' SNES. Maybe if I got that hook up thing to the Game Cube... Anyhoo, "Son of a Submariner" is definitely a classic. They should've left it alone! Then again, as long as they left in "I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE... HATE YOU!!" I am cool with that. I also hope they did a better job of the dialogue
    Spoiler:
at the end of the Vector factory, where Locke mistrusts Celes because of what Kefka says about her. Never much cared for his dialogue, there.

    Anyhoo...

What Dialoge there, haha, he basically doesn't say anything and

    Spoiler:
    Celes takes off with Kefka

Personally, I loved Woosly, his touch on everything made even the darkest situations... funny.
"Wait he says, Do I look like a Waiter?" Classic stuff there, I do love me a good pun or eight And, personally, I felt that his translation was fine, there was no real reason to change it except there were Woosly Haters that felt like "it should be closer to its Japanese roots!" Which, is why Squenix decided to retranslate it again. You know, most of those people that were screaming for Retranslation wanted the Cussing, etc back in the game.. you know what.... It's still not in the game.

That being said, the retranslation isn't BAD, per se, like most of you, I grew up with FFVI/III, it was the first RPG I played through and LOVED, its what got me into RPG's(well, big time, I played through Mystic Quest before). It just stings that some of the more memorable stuff (Atma, "Submariner") were completely redone. Even with that, I can say it was well worth my money, and I would dare say its worth it to any of the real fans of the series to buy and play through this game.

    Anywho, Ciao

Meh, I'm way too old school to play 4, 5, 6, or well any other FF remake on another system other than their original console. It just doesn't hold the same feel that you capture when you played some of the most awesome systems in the universe. I might get FF3 that came out not too long ago since my friends love it, but I'll stick with the originals for now, lol.

Oh and my new banner > all your banners.

He says "You deceived me?" or something along those lines. To me, that feels like he's trusting what Kefka said far too quickly/easily. I think he should've been like "What? Celes, is this true?" or something. Then again, I suppose that's how the plot went. The part where he talks to Celes again at night afterwards, and she runs away without saying anything back is kinda iffy to me, too.

Anyhoo, that entire post of mine is in spoil format. Yay! Heh. In any case, if I could get ahold of a working Final Fantasy Chronicles now, I would totally get it, because I neither own Final Fantasy 4 nor Chrono Trigger for my SNES, and I thought both were awesome (Chrono Trigger especially.) Anyhoo...

    Wuv, Yer Mom

  16. #556
Yes, Chrono Trigger FTW! I forgot that I've been somewhat playing through this fan made sequel of sorts to Chrono Trigger. It's actually just a massive hack of the original ROM, so all the characters, settings, and gameplay is completely intact. And DAMN, Behemoth, that banner is fan-fooking-tastic! Street Fighter all the way.

Well I'm finally at the last world in Super Mario Bros 2 (not using warping). I have to say I underestimated this game. I forgot how damn annoying world 7 is. Hopefully I'll be beating it soon though..and I'm thinking of starting a new game in Super Mario RPG. NINTENDO FTW!

    Happy posting everyone.

I'm liking the new name El Presidente, I was about to post in here because I thought a new member was joining our ranks, and I was going to welcome them but what a surprise! Your avatar and sig go together very well, and that other new sig based off of the original Legend of Zelda design is awesome like I said before.

As for other VC titles, do they have Super R-Type III out for the VC too? That'd be a good choice If it's out. Since you have R-Type already though, Donkey Kong Country, Super Castlevania IV, Super Ghouls N' Ghosts, or Kirby's Adventure would be some of my top choices. Of course since you like puzzle games, Wario Woods would be right up your alley. Mario Kart 64 definitely wouldn't be a bad choice though, just more expensive than some of the other titles.

Well I got a steady order of SNES games that I am ordering coming my way. Today I got Battle Toads & Double Dragon, and have been playing a good amount today. I forgot how damn hard this game gets, the farthest I made it was to the fourth level, and there are seven total! There is no way of saving so every time you want to try you have to start the game over. I'm hoping once I get my buddy playing with me, It'll be easier with two players. I'm anxiously awaiting the rest of my games to come too.

    Happy posting all.

I just have a question, does Earthbound count as a nintendo game? (It's on the super nintendo, however I don't think it was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto)

Well, if anyone is looking for a copy of Chrono Trigger for the original SNES you better have some spending cash. At a gaming store I saw it for about 59.99. It's quite the rare game. It'd be easier just to buy final fantasy chronicles (like I did, lol). So pretty much only get the game if you are wanting to collect it for a pretty penny.

It can be debated as to whether or not Earthbound counts as a "Nintendo "game. Although it was not created by Shigeru Miyamoto it was Published by Nintendo and appeared only on the SNES. First of all not many games were published directly by Nintendo for the SNES. Also of the two companies which did develop the game the large was HAL Laboratory which is most famous for its character Kirby, the protagonist of the Kirby game series, as well as the Super Smash Bros. series. Hal Laboratory is a second-party development studio of Nintendo, and current president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, was a former president of HAL. I would consider both Kirby and Super Smash bros. to be "Nintendo" games so I also consider Earthbound to be a "Nintendo" title. Still I am wide open to any debate about the subject.

Earthbound has to be one of my most favorite games of all time and I think an Earthbound nintendo worshippers signature would look cool.

Well I'd say Earthbound definitely counts as Nintendo game seeing as HAL is a second party developer for Nintendo. I would think that Nintendo owns the rights to the Earthbound name and everything too.

Oh yeah, and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who still has my original Chrono Trigger SNES cart in mint condtion AND with the super rare poster that comes with it. I have the original cartridge for just about every good SNES rpg, from all the Final Fantasys, Ogre Battle, Illusion of Gaia, Lufia 1 & 2, Breath of Fires, Earthbound, Secret of Mana, etc etc. FF IV actually came with a fold out poster that has maps of all the towns and different dungeons, and FF VI came with a fold out world map. World of Balance on one side and World of Ruin on the other. I don't think I would ever sell any of them though I know I could make a lot of money doing so. I think playing games on their original system is so much better than playing remakes or even ROMs.

And we have seen some Earthbound characters in some of the banners. I remember hellbred's had some sprite artwork of Ness and co. His avatar/banner combo he has right now is soley earthbound though. You should check out his profile, he also made custom earthbound desktop calenders too.

Oh yeah and to update on my Nintendo playing, I received Battle Toads in Battle Maniacs and Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES. My friend I have been playing those two player together, but other than that I borrowed Harvest Moon 64 from a friend and have been playing it non stop.

I love this series, and Harvest Moon 64 to me is one of the most classic. I almost went through an entire year in that game in one day. My guy is absoutely killing it making money, he already has four cows, three sheep, six chicken, I've gotten three additions for my house, going on four, and I've gotten the nice rug and cabinet too. It's winter now, so no crop growing, but I have about 20,000 G's saved up, and once spring comes around I'm going to set up atleast 8 vegetable patches going on at once. I had six going on in the fall, and between watering all my plants, and tending to my animals, I had close to no time to do anything else in the day. My guy is working his ass off, I need some extra time to woo my woman though.

Does anyone else like Harvest Moon and what versions have you played?

Haha, I only really got into one Harvest Moon title, and it was one for the PS, though I have played the SNES, GBA, and PS2 versions of the game. They are ADDICTIVE though, haha.

On old SNES games, I still have Secret of Mana still, Mystic Quest, and I used to have FFIII/VIj but my friend stole and (I'm guessing) pawned it. But, as much as I loved plating FFVI on its native console, I really don't see why everyone screams blasphemy when something gets ported. I honestly loved when they ported my favorite SNES game, ever, to the GBA. Now, I can play FFVI on the go instead of just in my house. Of course, everyone has their own view on the matter, I just am irked that nobody seems to appreciate what Squenix has tried to do there...

Anywho, done with rant, I never played Earthbound, personally, I never even knew it existed until I played SSB:M >.>;;. In any case, it didn't SEEM all that interesting.. I dunno...

Wow, I am completely speechless. That is great, and I am surprised nobody has already said that. You are applauded, and thanked for going through the trouble of putting that post together El Presidente.

In Nintendo news, I was looking at the article at IGN for Fire Emblem X: Goddess of Dawn(AKA Fire Emblem Wii). It looks like my speculation about lack of Wii-mote usage is true.

    Quote Originally Posted by http://wii.ign.com/articles/767/767088p1.html

Says so right on the box: "The entire game is played with the Wiimote's buttons." Ironically (I'm pretty sure this is irony), Akatsuki no Megami is one of the first Japanese Wii releases to include a pamphlet warning users against waving the Wiimote around too hard (in Japan, Nintendo actually has public service commercials showing proper use of the controller).

When you first start up the game, you're told to hold the Wiimote sideways rather than pointing at the screen. While you can play the game with just the Wiimote in this fashion, I wouldn't suggest it. Wiimote play requires some confusing button combinations to get all the functionality that you can get from a Classic Controller or GameCube controller. The latter two are better options. Personally, my GameCube controllers are retired, so it's the Classic Controller for me.

Fire Emblem controls just fine the old way, so the lack of Wiimote compatibility might actually be a good thing. There's no excuse for some of the other shortcomings, though. Technically, the game doesn't appear to have changed much from Souen no Kiseki (Path of Radiance), its GameCube predecessor. It seems to be running on the same graphics engine, right down to no 16x9 support (although, to be honest, I've been staring at fattened Japanese television signals for so long that it took me a while to notice). The only technical merits are progressive and Pro Logic support, but even the GameCube title had progressive output.
AKA (for those of you too lazy to read) Fire Emblem X CAN be played with the Wiimote, just not using it's functionality to any extent. I had high hopes for this one... oh well, lets hope a Fire Emblem for the DS will make use of the stylus, if there will be one for the DS...

"Hooray for Super Mario Bros. 3!"

*quoted and copied a million times*

HELL YEAH! I loved my SNES Super Mario All-Stars too, because it had this game on it. SMB 3 is a f.ucking classic, and anyone who says otherwise will be shot twice for their blasphemic views. *does some more SMB3 ranting until passes out and wakes up several hours later to do some more, then stops*

Anyways, I FINALLY beat the Dragon's Den in FFVI A, Yay me ! Soul Shrine (that gets unlocked after beating the Dragon's Den) is pretty easy through the first 3 tiers, then, on my fourth tier, I got killed by a "Glutturn". Think the Magic Pot from Fanatics tower, except, MUCH more difficult.

*thinks about moving this section of the post to OSCoK >.>*

Anyways, that is all thats happening to me in Nintendo, aside from me registering enough products at Nintendo.com to get 3 free issues of Nintendo Power .

Great news Link! I had read a lot of that stuff too and was thinking it'd be a great idea to post it here. The Game Developers Conference 07 certainly had a lot of great Nintendo related news and features. You've got it all here basically it looks like, I really enjoyed watching the new trailer for Super Mario Galaxy and like you, I am beyond pumped for Super Paper Mario.

If I'm been absent some, It's probably because I've been swamped with gaming lately. Not only have I been breathing new life into my Nintendo 64 and SNES, but I have ordered a crap load of ps2 games. I just finished Rogue Galaxy, I still have Okami, Grandia, and Harvest Moon 64 (even though by my standards I would say I"m done with this game because I have accomplished everything besides marrying, I have my greenhouse in effect for a non stop money making machine though) on the backburner. I've vowed to get all the life out of my current systems before buying any of the next gen systems though so I've got a lot of Ps2 games to play (along with some N64, Dreamcast, SNES, and PS1 games too). I'd say I'll be busy for another year or two..or possibly more even.

And about Harvest Moon, you're right, they really can be addicting. The first games in the series I played were the SNES and original GB ones. Back to Nature (PS1 version) and Harvest Moon 64 are pretty similar in design and appearance, though the layout of towns and maps is different in Back to Nature. A Wonderful Life is a lot of fun though very different in a lot of ways from the original versions, but I've heard from a lot of people that Magical Melody may not only be the best version on the gamecube, but it's a return to the classic style of Harvest Moon and is one of the best games in the series. Oh yeah, and the new version is being developed for the Wii, I'm really liking the look of the game, and I have this scan with some screenshots.

I recently ordered Xenosaga II (which I am playing through now), Xenosaga III, Dragon Quest VIII, Radiata Stories, and Disgaea off of amazon, and I have a million more games saved in my cart whenever I'm ready to get more, so I'm going to be busy for awhile (especially considering there are like 80 more games in my cart, though I don't know if I'm really going to purchase them all)

Good news about Super Mario Bros 3, that game really is the shit. It's funny you bring up the suit though, my friend I were recently playing two player when we were pondering what the best suit in the game is. He said the hammer brothers suit, but I thought it was a little hard to use, so I went with the tanooki suit, which to me is the ultimate suit. Of course if you are in a water level, the frog suit is a huge help. Does anyone remember the boot though? You get inside a boot in certain levels (I think the first time is in the big/small world), I wish you could receive that as an item, because that would be the best hands down for me. What do you guys think though?

Oh yeah and that'd be great if they released Super Mario Allstars for the VC Cool news about Fire Emblem too, I think it's a good thing that it doesn't require the Wiimote. Games like that would certainly be easier with normal controllers.

Haha, I remember Captain N, but wow it's been awhile! I wouldn't mind checking those out on DVD, I know all the Mario show episodes are definitely on DVD too like you said.

Yeah I will be pretty busy for awhile, Xenosaga II has been fun but too cutscene heavy. This game has to be really short, I'm only about 9 hours into the game and already on disc 2! I'll definitely let you know about Disgaea though, I think DarkDragoon has played it, or maybe it was the sequel?

I'm still really anxious to get my Wii as new VC and other titles are being announced. I guess I just have to be patient, I know I'm going to get one at some point. I'd recommend people check out the new GDC 07 trailer for No More Heroes, the Wii game developed by the team behind Killer 7. Man this game is looking Fing sweet, and the combat looks really intense (and really bloody ).

I was also happy to see this poll. Along with a few others

*pops in randomly* Did someone say something about Captain N? I'm ordering that through Amazon.com, along with the complete series of Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM. Fun times! I wanna see the episode with Puss n Boots the most; the guy who voiced him was the same guy who voiced Goku. Plus, I go for those kinda weird-ass episodes.

In any case... I can't really say that I've been playing much in the way of Nintendo lately... I watched Star Fox 64 get played for a little while, and also the original Paper Mario, which were both my copies of the games, both being played on my system. A friend is borrowing it... and as a matter of fact, it's been borrowed for almost a year now, apparently. Although up until a couple weeks ago, it'd been "borrowed" by someone else... who was keeping it in their storage. Finally also got back my Super Metroid from them not too long ago. Wanna play that.

I've mostly been playing Dragon Quest VIII, lately. Fun game, although I think I might be getting a little bit tired of it now... Anyhoo...

    Did I hear Disgaea o.o!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LuVVV that game, why it's numero uno on my favorite game list (see Favorite game list (descriptive)).

Seriously, not only is the gameplay a bit wacky, the skills are wacky, the characters are wacky, and so is the story. Its good for quite a few laughs, and if you can find it for cheap, GO FOR IT! It is WELL worth the money you spend. Disgaea 2, like the first, also is a great game, same wackyness, but seems to be just an addon for the original honestly, not that much changed, so, its a good second choice if you can't get the original. But, I'm gonna say it again, if you find it, and its affordable, BUY IT, either one is good, and not that related, you can easily get away with playing one without the other, but, playing both kinda continues the story, and I would recommend both .

    Anywho, enough ranting from meh.

Ha, it's funny because even before I read this post I was checking out everyone's top 10 list because it was just updated and noticed yours and how Disgaea was number 1.

Amazingly, I did get it cheap (luckily not for like 70 bucks like you mentioned), originally it was 59.99 I think, but for some reason, Amazon was a strange thing of periodically putting games on sale for a limited amount of time and when I got online and it notified me that it had dropped to 29.99 I had to go for it. The same thing happened with Valkyrie Profile 2 which was the same original price, but I waited too long on the sale now it's back to it's original price.

But basically I intend to play through of all Nippon Ichi's strategy rpgs for the PS2. Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, La Pucelle: Tactics, and Disgaea 2 (Plus Stella Deus, another strategy RPG from Atlus, but not developed my Nippon Ichi) .I've got em all in my cart for purchase sometime, but I'm pretty set with games as it is seeing as I just ordered five rpgs. (Disgaea, Xenosaga II, Xenosaga III, Dragon Warrior VIII, and Radiata Stories)

I have to say that I have been hooked on Xenosaga II, just like I was with one. The game itself I am not too impressed with, the battle system is boring and tedious and the sidequests don't serve much of a purpose, it's really all about the story and wanting to know what happens next. Plus, this game is probably the shortest rpg I have ever played, if not one of them. I have literally been playing this for less than a week probably, and I'm already at the main boss at the game. It took me 20 hours to get where I am, but remember that about half the game or more is cutscenes, so playing a game for 10 hours is pretty pathetic I must say. Xenosaga I was lightyears better than Episode II, but from what I gather, Episode III is a lot better than II (and about twice as long)

Just a warning to anyone wanting to get into the Xenosaga trilogy, is PLAY THEM BACK TO BACK! It's been years since I played the original Xenosaga, and man with such a deep and complicated story (or often times just poorly explained), I barely even knew what was going on. Luckily they have story summaries and the like online, but I am weary to read any info on the games because everything you read has about a million spoilers in it. Especially Wikipedia, I'm never using that to refresh my memory on Xenosaga.

I'm planning on playing Xenosaga III as soon as I'm done though, even though it hasn't arrived yet. Then finally I can put the games to rest, I have to say that although the gameplay is nothing innovative or exciting, Xenosaga has the claim to fame as not only having one of the best stories I have encountered in an RPG, but by far one of the strongest cast of characters which obviously over the span of three games sees a good amount of development. Man, I'm going to miss Jr. when this is all said and done

And although the 6 part epic was cut to three (I wonder how much of the story was changed), there is still a slight possibility that the xenosaga or just xeno franchise may return to the PS3, whether or not the beloved characters will return remains to be seen though.
