He was torn between breaking the promise he made to his parents (that he'd never break the rules again) or the one he made to his wife (that he'd care for her sister, Rukia). He chose the one he made to his parents, and thusly, didn't save her.

Answer: Witohut her powers they are the demon arts (i forgot what they're called) and with her powers she has transforemed her zanpakuto into its initial release called: Sode No Shirayuki (Sleeve of White Snow) or w/e its called. Obvious it is an ice type Zanpakuto. Capable of releasing waves of ice to freeze enemies it is the most beautiful but not the most powerful ice zanpakuto in the anime.
