Well, since nobody else is going to say anything and because what I've seen of you is cult material, I'm going to say yes, you can join, pending the customary quiz that Cesar or Dawezy gives whenever they decide to get around to it. I'm too...tired now. Until then, you can at least act like you're a member.

Holy crap, so for some reason the EB near me has Littlebigplanet on retail today instead of Tuesday when it's supposed to come out. I can't get access to the online servers yet (which I'm really hoping is simply because they're not online yet due to the aforementioned), but even the single player stint is helluva fun (helluva is apparently an actual word that doesn't get the red line of misspelling under it...huh). It's too bad that Fallout is out on Tuesday, because I'll be spending all my time with that instead of this awesome game, but I'll have to come back to it at some point to check the awesome network stuff.

    CP:
    Little Big Planet (PS3)
    Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Wii:N64)
    Morrowind (PC)

    Until now!

I still say ney to Nintendo and this online business in the sense that.. the other networks have point systems where you earn stuff for free yar? use those points to get other stuff, etc..

    ..bah, frack it.

I'll stick to my PS2 until further notice.

And ah! I bid you welcome Kaiser~ Aslong as you're not a prick and intentionally cause havoc within our Cult's noble walls, then you are more then welcome. I still must quiz you as per our Code of Conduct.

Answer me these questions three! (note: I'm the SEGA junkie of the Cult, Loco is the other half)

1.) Which was SEGA's top selling title on the Genesis.
2.) Upon the completion of Sorcerer's Kingdom, what title does King Kanan grant you with?
3.) What was the notable differences between Contra Hard Corps and Probotector on the Genesis.

Should ye ney be able to answer, I'll provide them in the next post no doubt lol.

    EDIT: CP!
    FF12 o.o
..and my 3D Custom Girl! she is awesome. ^__^

    3. - Mode 7.

Bonus points! What's my favorite SNES game?

I've found the Wii's a lot better than I gave it credit for. It was great playing the classics elsewhere, but I finally got my own Wi-Fi USB connector and now that I've downloaded half the faves I haven't been able to go on any other console since I got the thing.

Between Breath of Fire 2, Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3 and the first two Donkey Kong Country games, I'm getting almost like a WoW addict. Must keep playing...

The Wii's good like that. Too bad there's very few new games as yet worth playing. We'll see when No More Heroes 2 gets closer.

I've been playing a lot lately. Not much old skool, mind you, but a lot nonetheless. Fallout 3 has had my nuts in a vice over the last few months. Game of the year, yo. Little Big Planet too is amazing. I've also started playing the original Metal Gear Solid because I hadn't played those games back in the day and running through MGS4 confused the hell out of me. I've also been trying to play Mass Effect for the PC, but it's a crash monger. Apparently it's not just me either. I feel the need to slap EA across the face, but that's not unusual. Also, wtf is it with companies perpetuating the console wars? Bethesda's upcoming DLC for Fallout 3 is Microsoft exclusive? Seriously? That's bullshit and they refuse to even respond to my complaints. Bastards.

Valkyria Chronicles, Dead Space and Resistance 2 are on the way for Christmas, so I can't report on those yet and I'm pissing my pants in anticipation for Resident Evil 5 and Killzone 2 next year. Shite.

    CP:

    Little Big Planet (PS3)
    Metal Gear Solid (PS3: PS1)
(Trying to play) Mass Effect (PC)

Since our Dragoon friend decided to jump ship, I may aswell reveal the answers ~ most of which you guys should be familuar with. I got no idea what your fave game is though Loco, so I'm gonna guess ... Super Mario World?

    1) Sonic the Hedgehog 2
    2) "Dragon Slayer"
    3) Jap/English Text, and HP bar.
    - Contra had a 3-hit system where-as Probotector was one-hit, ALOT more tedious.
    - Contra has human characters, Probotector has robots.

Mode 7 was pretty cool! first game I played on the SNES was Starfox back at my uncles place, back in around 1992 or so I think it was. Ah memories~

I'm getting almost like a WoW addict. Must keep playing...
Enter the ZRO! ... elf sucked out his brain, he plays WoW more then I do FFXI lol.

Is that what happened to Bisho? Christ, I was wondering. Him, Scorp, even you, Dawezy, barely see you guys around anymore. I guess it doesn't help that I never log onto IMs anymore, but still.

I hath risen back from the...erm...INACTIVE!

And yet in the past few weeks of activity, I've not come back to post in the best club of all time???

Cesar's favorite game, of course, is YOUR MOM!

In all seriousness, I should be back to some sense of activity in here once more. After all, I am active in the rest of TFF again. I'd waste your time with my silly old campaign, but I will instead just point to the banner in my sig and request the consideration for a vote or two in our campaign for best couple here at TFF. Not that we have ANY chance of beating Silver/Violet. Ha ha

Anyway, been Old Skooling it up a bit on meh new-ish 360. It is like sex, only pixelated and in some ways better. (Okay, maybe a SLIGHT exaggeration there)

    Currently Old Skooling:

    Sonic the Hedgehog 2
    Golden Axe
    TMNT 2: The Arcade Game
    Streets of Rage 2
    Worms
    Contra
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.

In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

Zro, I imagine that without MMOs, you actually would be a crack addict. Take that, Thompson.

Psiko, your avatar gives me fuzzy feelings. And it's not like you're the only inactive bastard here. I'm not sure when it happened, but I think I am now officially a lurker as my most active forum, according to forum statistics, is Cleft of the Dimension. Viva la laze!

Little Big Planet is set to get the Metal Gear Solid level creator DLC tonight, so I'll be fiddling with that until Christmas gives me new toys. Snake? Snake?! Snaaaaaaaaaaaaake!!!

Speaking of which, cheers to whatever holiday/lazy time you guys and gals are enjoying.

Sorry, boys, I'm double post bumping this. This'll be worth it.

In case you haven't heard. There's a new Genesis/Mega Drive collection coming out for PS3 and 360. Over 40 games plus unlockable ones, achievement points/trophies, local multiplayer and possibly online multiplayer (I've read opposing descriptions), 720p display and best of all, only $30 US. Almost all the Sonic games are there including 3D Blast (not that that's a good thing), 3 or 4 Phantasy Star games (everyone keeps saying 4 of them, but Sega has only released the names of 3; perhaps the original for Master System will be an unlockable?), both Shining Force games (I'll then own 3 copies of them), all 3 Streets of Rage games and a shitload more. February 10th, I'm being told. I'm excited, I hope you other Sega lovers are too. A lot of these games already appeared on previous Sega collections, but there are some good ones that haven't. And at $30, it's way cheaper than buying Wii VC games at $8 a game (not to mention waiting for everything to come out).

This post seems like an advertisement. Two broken forum rules in one post. Whoops. Post, arseholes.

    Valkyria Chornicles (PS3)
    Resistance 2 (PS3)
    Some other stuff

How the shit have I not heard about this? I feel like a waste of space.

In the meantime, I'm working. And not posting very much. Obviously.

I am sad that the questions were not answered. I feel obligated to answer them myself now. I'll at least give up the bonus question: Uniracers.

Currently Playing: (because "CP" isn't cool)

    • Final Fantasy XI (PC/PS3)
    • Dead or Alive 4 (360)
    • Call of Duty: World at War (360)
    • Rock Band 2 (360)
    • Need for Speed: Undercover (PS3)
    • Starcraft (PC)
    • EVE Online (PC)
    • Star Ocean: The First Departure (PSP)
    • DJ Max Portable 2 (PSP)
    • Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

I know, not much in the way of old skool in the past week.

    1. - What "console" series did Nintendo release BEFORE the NES?

I'm guessing you mean either the Color TV Game (several games in most like Light Tennis) OR the Game + Watch. Both predate the NES, though some Game + Watches were still released after the NES was I believe.

    2. - Miyamoto personally designed Donkey Kong. True or False?

Correct. But we're talking the original game here, not the character designs used in later greats such as Donkey Kong Country.

    3. - Mode 7.

Is that a question? Well it was a texture mapping mode allowing a background layer to do fancy things if that's the answer you're looking for. It was originally used for the SNES from what I know, but if I understand correctly it was also used in some GBA remakes of some SNES games. Mario Kart and a few Square games utilised it.

And yeah, I plan on getting that sega collection for both 360 and PS3. I wanna be sure I'll always be able to have quick access to it. =D
Both are $70 here (Aussie dollars) and come out late February.

I'm extremely bored and too tired to do anything meaningful, so I will post the list of games in that Sega (apparently Sega is a correctly spelled word according to Firefox) compilation I mentioned above.

Those are some good games in there. I have fond memories of the Sonic & Knuckles game with Sonic 3 attached. Super Sonic was cool enough but with the upgrade to Hyper is deviouse if you have the power rings to make that form last. Nintendo needs to a compilation as well and release every Mario and Zelda game on one disc, Link to the Past anybody!

Now I just have to figure out what to do with my tax return. Burn it all on games? Porn? anime? Beer? Hentai? or an internet connection. I miss my COD frag fests. Besides I m tired of living in apartments, Im thinking of just hording all my gil and just go out and buy me a house.

I kinda doubt that Nintendo will make a compilation like that anytime soon. They want people to use the Wii's virtual console. $5 for a NES game, $8 for a SNES game and $10 for a N64 game will generate them way more money than a $50 compilation disc of 40 games will. I hate to badmouth VC as I use it extensively, but compared to compilation discs, it's a rip off. But it's not like there's any new games worth playing on the Wii, so I'll take what I can get on it.

It would be nice though. Honestly, I'd love a Turbografx compilation as well. They had some damn fun games on that thing. And because I'm completely sticking my head in the clouds right now, I'll wish for the impossible: wouldn't it be awesome if someone perfected Sega Saturn emulation and brought over Shining Force 3 episode 2 and 3 and translated the ****ing thing? That would be wonderful. Get on that, Sega. You screwed us over on that in the first place. I hate playing Japanese games. Even with an English script.

    NNCP (Not not currently playing):
    Castlevania (Wii: NES)
    Splatterhouse (Wii: Turbografx)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Wii: N64)
    Parasite Eve (PSX)
    Ice Hockey (Wii: NES)
    Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)
    Dead Space (PS3)

    Until now!

Yeah, there aren't many good Wii games that I like. Just five, sadly.

    Mario Kart (Don't own this.)
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
    Smash Bros Brawl
    Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Tatsunoko vs Capcom (Don't own it yet.)

    PS3 titles that I like...

    Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm
    Valkyria Chronicles
Heavenly Sword (Will probably just rent this.)
    Versus XIII
Eternal Sonata (Yes, this version over the 360 version. Apparently there are more playable characters in this one.)
    Disgaea 3
    Folklore
White Knight Story (Not even out yet.)

Wow. 8 titles. Didn't think it'd be that many. xD

    Anyway.

    Currently Playing:
    Soulcalibur IV (360)
    Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Wii)
    Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (DS)
    Fate/Unlimited Codes (PS2)
    Fate/Stay Night (PC)
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (PC)
    Starcraft (PC)

Seriously! Been busy trying to find a job and spamming my lack of a life away at WoW to fill the time and keep myself de-stressed. Also been working on my drumming skills on Rock Band. Roomie has it for teh Wii, which I'm slightly disappointed in compared to the other versions. Movie background FTL. T.T

So far up to getting 90% or higher on just about all songs on Medium, tho Enter Sandman seriously screwed me up in a few spots (some WEIRD blasted beats for the drummer in that one). I figure tonite or tomorrow I'll start working my way up through solo play on Hard. I know I can (somehow) manage to make my way through Wanted: Dead or Alive on Expert. And I'm still not sure how.

Also been playing my way through Subspace mode on Smash Bros. Brawl.

CP (because I love being politically incorrect):
    WoW
    Rock Band
    SSB Brawl
    Guitar Hero 3

    Zro, come back to us.

Okay, boys. Got my hands on that Megadrive collection I've been toting lately and it really is the shit. The games look beautiful in HD and there are some amazing classics on this little disk.

    · Phantasy Star (SEGA Master System)
    · Alien Syndrome (Arcade)
    · Altered Beast (Arcade)
    · Congo Bongo (Arcade)
    · Fantasy Zone (Arcade)
    · Shinobi (Arcade)
    · Space Harrier (Arcade)
    · Zaxxon (Arcade)

Although unlocking some of them can be a bitch (I don't really want to get high enough scores in Flickey or Super Thunder Blade, for example), it's nice that they added them. Especially the original Phantasy Star. And don't worry, they weren't stupid enough to make you play a subsequent Phantasy Star to unlock it.

Trophies/Achievements are nice, but they could have added more, given the amount of games in this collection. Also, no online play, which is a bit disappointing, but I'll get over it. And for $30 US, it's a steal, really. Go buy it. Now.

Other than that, I've finished Dead Space and Valkyria Chronicles recently, both excellent games, and am still going through Parasite Eve. Waiting for Killzone 2 mostly.

    CP:
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (I'll lump them together until I settle on a game from it)
    Parasite Eve (PSX)
Killzone 2 Demo (seriously, a lot.)

    Until now!

    Greetings, Old Skoolies!

    The Ponk returns.

I know, it's been forever hey. But I finally took notice of one of those "Come back to TFF!" messages they keep sending me. So here I am! Also I am coming to America in like three months.

Yup, working with Camp America as a sumer camp counselor - dunno where yet, waiting for my placement, but I WILL be coming! If I'm in the areas of any of you folks, I hope to gather some handy hints of what to see, where to go, and which bars are best value for drinkin'. Woo!

Oh, and to keep it on topic, what have I been playing...

    CP:
Chrono Trigger DS - Loving the crap outta this game, all over again. No loading times, bonus.
Zack & Wiki for Wii - Actually more fun than I thought! Still only doing short bursts though.
Fallout 3 - Hovering at the final mission, wanna explore as much as possible before the endgame. Also playing on PS3, so no DLC for me. Damnit.
Bioshock - Pretty good! But everything else is taking priority.
Infinite Undiscovery and Te Last Remnant - Neither are as enjoyable as I hoped, sadly.
Wii Fit - Yeah yeah, but it's an easy way to do some exercise every day. Also yoga is apparently a very elite fitness regime, those people must have the balance of... Really balanced things? No analogy, too tired.

    Hi!

Greetings ol'Ponk, how fares the Augh one?

On a random note before I dribble too much nonsense, I was gonna recommend that some of you lads get your hands on Skype. Loco and I get conference calls going when we are both on FFXI in groups.. makes it a hell of alot easier and fun, but it doesnt have to be game-onry. Saves a international phonecall, lol.

    That aside though! Dawezy hurtz ;_;

Week 2 of severe pain around my ankles.. not the Saturday that just passed, but the Saturday prior to that one (31st Jan) I didnt take note of the condition of my work boots after all this time (had this pair about a year and a half now) and the back of the boots were worn down, and were grinding against the back of my ankles/heels.. low and behold its let an infect creep in the burn marks and my feet are now swollen to a degree and they hurt like fricken hell. If I dont take these painkillers I can barely walk =\

So I got 2 weeks off work while I get these wounds attended to, doc has given me a whole variety of pills to swallow over the next 9 or so days now.

    I'm not well lads

CP: Recently installed a expansion set for my 3D Custom Girl, she is even moar hot now.

Alot of FF11 and Hentai, been trying to get Fallout 3 to work but to no avail.

Consider it done, if you're somewhere nearby I'll let you know what's up.

Dawezy, keep yourself in one piece, mate.

    ARRRRGGHHHHH!!!!

I still have to wait another 13 days until that gem is mine due to the Aussie release date.
Preordered of course, so I should get it on day of release.

Out of curiousity, I heard Phantasy Star was an unlockable. Any chance someone knows how it'll be unlocked yet? Or is it available from first disc entry?

CP: Several dozen games I downloaded and realised I hadn't played yet. Figuring out which are worth investing time in and which will be kept until there's nothing else available.

You know what? I was ney aware of this release!!

My eyes lit up with glee, until search results on Google pointed me to Sega-Australia and the PS3/XBOX360 ONLY release..

Dude, the PS2 could ace all those titles and more.. >_</

If you don't care about going online and downloading stuff, the 360 arcade unit with no harddrive and a 256mb memory card is under $300 AU now.

Comes with some arcade games on a disc too I believe including Pac-Man. It'll also solve your inability to play Fallout 3, but I think you'd need a hard drive for any Fallout 3 DLC. I'd recommend grabbing a premium for the $100 more though if you're interested. That hard drive comes in pretty damn handy. And they've solved most of the 360's problems at this point in time too it would seem.

Ponk, you always show up at the most random times. Make sure you keep doing so.

Get well, Dawezy. Your ankles' pain pains me...or something. Oh and it's about time to buy a next gen system, ne? You can get an Xbox pretty cheap. Or get a PS3 so I have a fellow TFFer that actually uses it.

Silver: The original Phantasy Star, along with most things in the game, is very easy to unlock. All you have to do is beat the first boss in Sonic 2 with someone else playing as Tails. Also, accept my PS3 friend request, god dammit. You guys never log on.

Not this time, mate... all titles are upgraded to 720p. Even if you don't have a super-fancy TV to support the high-def business, you can still tell the difference in the crispness of the textures. Ugh, I've never seen 16-bit so gorgeous before.

    See, thats the thing lads.

I would happily toss my money at a PS3 if they had done it right.. >_> let me expand a bit on my beef.

I have DVDs, and backups, and alot of things in my humble abode ~ my PS2 can ney play these items, or can my DVD player downstairs.. my comp can run them fine enough but thats an inconvenience because I use my comp for most of my other shit and not just games. My comp can only do so many things at once and being able to go over to my PS2 and go a fair distance from the screen and be comfy.. all this fricken Region Code bullshit. I've done a hell of alot of google searching and I have yet to stumble upon anyone with Region Code hacks/decoders that could be put to use. So in summary; getting a PS3 would be nice but it would only be used for a single few tasks.. ones that I dont do very often.

Since these Blu-ray discs are now Region Coded aswell I'm screwed =\

    Also: retail price of PS3 is still hovering around $600 ;_;

Any resources out there that may be of assist, throw me some links. Chances of me purchasing a PS3 atm are slim to none atm until I can find some way of modding it to my purposes (hopefully just software, and not hardware).
