Happy new year and stuff? Sure.

Holy Buddha cakes! I've just come back from playing the original 1992 DOS Alone in the Dark! How's that for old skool? I'm so glad I kept that old Windows 95 133 Mhz former-beast. Bwahaha. I freaking loved/still love that game. Resident Evil can suck its zombie balls when compared to this game. the graphics make me laugh. I swear to god they look almost as good (bad) as FFVII graphics, but were made in 1992, before 3D graphic cards. Oh the memories.

Cheers to a new year of Cult, mates.

Thinking about starting up either FFIV or FFVI again.

    Until now!

    cheers my fellow old schoolers!

WTF has been going on?!?! man I'm out of the loop. 40 hours week and school on the side isn't so fun but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

not much old schoolin as of late..the only thing I seem to play these days is online shooters like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and DoD: Source..though my friend who just recently purchased an xbox360 gave me his gamecube and games to play since I've never owned one. So Resident Evil 4/Eternal Darkness/Pikmin 2 has kept me busy on the side.

hopefully everyone is having an old school tastic new year!

Holy crap 'Alone in the Dark'

I haven't thought about that game in ages.....

I need to play that. Is it in that "so old it's free" catagory yet?

Heeey there. As usual, it's been awhile. Oddly enough, I was old-schooling it not that long ago as I pulled out the original LoZ and subsequently owned. It's funny how we remember certain things. The dungeons were not lost on me. Apart from that, gaming just hasn't been a major part of life right now. Mind you, I get the urge every now and again to whip out either Chrono Trigger, FF6, or the likes of those. The obsessive compulsive in me craves an RPG...

Wow, we've had a good 4 posts since the new year. That's pretty sad guys. What's happened to you all?

Good to see you alive and about, Dau. I feel your pain on the lack of time thing. I've been playing FFVI and FFVIII lately, but when I do have free time, it's never for long enough to warrent playing an RPG. I hate playing them patchily. And I rarely have the energy anyways these days. I've been reading more than gaming lately. Oh god, education! Run!

Now I know you aren't all giving in to higher education, so no excuses. Get yer asses on and post at least once a month...or year.

Oh, right. Something to post. Um, Rogue Galaxy is pretty nice, it's very generous considering it's a dungeon crawler RPG. You can teleport between savepoints on the same world. Pretty nice if you run out of stock. And the savepoints replenish all your HP/SP. But yeah. Melty Blood is really nice, been playing it online. Saiyuki is one hell of an anime, too.

I'm sure I've been lurking long enough that people forgot I was a member of this particular club.

    CP:
Caesar III (Can't get past the first scenario with an earthquake)
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (Is this old school yet?)
Final Fantasy XII (Got the Zodiac Spear, hell yeah!)

I honestly can't stand the AI in Caesar III sometimes. People who live directly next to a market are starving to death. I can't please all the gods for shit. I can't produce enough pottery fast enough to keep those damned houses from devolving.

I am currently in the middle of my tradition of beating FFT at least once per year. Cid is still overpowered, and the Dark Knight job is insanely difficult to unlock.

FFXII is stuck in limbo until I can find my PS2 memory card. Whoops.

Rasler needs to play me in MTG, too.
Morningtide has come out, so there are new possibilities. Have to modify my elf deck.
Still have to test my Yubel theme deck that I transferred from Yugioh to MTG. xD

    Soooooo...

I know a post full of links probably isn't a very good one, so here are the links anyway, and then I actually have something relevant to add to it.

    FFIV DS OST
    Xenogears OST
    Digital Devil Saga 1/2 OST(s)
    Lost Odyssey OST

I'm a soundtrack nut. I have most of the OSTs, and the recent release of Lost Odyssey made me want to splurge again, so of course, one OST turned into two, which quickly turned into four...

Also, I'm FINALLY getting around to completing my FF collection and picking up a copy of FFVIII while I'm at it. Also, Chrono Cross for good measure. Having never had a PSX, I missed out on those two, and they're really hard to come by. I don't mind that they're Greatest Hits... and they're new, so I'm not complaining, either.

Oh hell, here's a screencap. Also note the stuff in my "saved items" section.

Don't forget to add $30 onto that for FedEx. Total? US$213.30

    So then, the relevant topic?

Videogame OSTs. Do you (legitimately) own any? If so, which?

edit: Oh shit, right, currently playing.

    DOUBLE POST FOR GREAT JUSTICE!!!

Mostly because I want to make sure everyone sees my last post, and partially because this post has absolutely nothing to do with it. Forever and a day ago, a young lad named Nathan expressed interest in joining the OSCoK. Then I went AFK for a few months and Dawezy never tested out his game knowledge either.

That said, I'm just gonna let the young whippersnapper in.

You get a free pass because we're all old and lazy and senile. Welcome to the Cult. We reserve the right to kick you out if... well... umm... if you bash on old school stuff?

Yeah that's fine. I'd have to kick my own ass myself if I bashed the classics...
    Good to be a member.

On to videogame soundtracks, the ones I can see on my shelf are mostly fairly new as video game music is a more recent thing I've begun to collect. I have most Final Fantasy soundtracks as I've been a big collector and felt the desire to own all I could regardless of how they had to be imported, and I do have a lot of chip music I'd consider questionably legal due to me ripping them from my own games I plan on keeping with third party hardware and applications.

Apart from that, Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga 2 original soundtrack, the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess soundtrack, Unreal Tournament soundtrack (via that last anthology), Baldur's Gate soundtrack, Baldur's Gate 2 soundtrack, Icewind Dale soundtrack, Blue Dragon (I know, I know, I liked the music. And I got it cheap) ><, Chocobo Racing OST, Chrono Trigger - The Brink of Time, Chrono Cross OST, Dragon Quest Symphonic Suite and Kingdom Hearts OST.

I also have several of those overclocked remix ones that are free to download. My favourites being the Chrono Trigger one, and the Final Fantasy VII one. I think there were some nice Sonic ones too, if I remember correctly.

I've been trying to see if any legit looking Final Fantasy VI soundtracks are floating around as it is my favourite, but so far they elude me. I do have most of the soundtracks though.

Currently Playing: For now, Ring of Fates and Dragon Quest Monsters Joker, both of which I purchased today.
And the NES Classics LoZ on gba, which I've been playing for the last couple of days again. Once I play it a good deal, I'll be back to Tales of Phantasia to work on as complete a game as I can without a guide. So far I think I've clocked up 180 hours or so playing on and off.

    Loco ftw~

And yes, my long absence from posting on TFF and doing like erm.. anything, has a legit excuse behind it for a change! You see I just happen to move house again where-in my room now is quite sorted out and sexy, but, rest of the house is in shambles and still a HELL of alot of work to be had. Then on the side of that I have my work to attend to (you know, money, and stuff, keeps me alive and what have you.) aswell as my forever-growing hentai/pornography collection and FF11 addiction. As casual as my hours of work are I really get beat up from the nature of my position ~ I usually have a couple hour nap when I get home on most days :3

My hat off to the young lad tho, I probably had a heap of questions in the field of SEGAry to toss at you but I likely forgot no big though, welcome \^_^/ a little note I should add along side your joining our ranks. We dont always post *every single day* but we DO post when the topic arises/not feeling lazy/wantz to socialize, etc.

On ze topic that Loco has presented, I cannot contribute any legitamite title as 100.1% of the OST's I have were downloaded/written to CD. Fore I have no shame in my piracy work as I have no shame in my hentai addiction~

    In recent times my keyboard has been mashed by these titles;
    = FF6A/5A
= FF11 (There would be something wrong, if this wasnt listed surely)
= Oblivion (For our resident Jin <3)
= A hell of alot of SEGA Genesis ROMs
    = C&C The First Decade
.\= more specifically, C&C Tiberian Sun / Generals Zero Hour

Also, for shits and giggles I been getting into Robot Chicken lately.

    Enjoy!

..phew, all this typing has inspired me to go retrieve some Beer from the fridge, woo~
    SPOILER!!:

There is no shame in enjoying hentai and beer; it makes the world go round and keeps the evil ones busy yet they bring the Apocalypse. I do have a few legit soundtracks but mostly I download them. What I do have is mostly anime and a few games.

I haven’t gotten anything new recently except for mass effect but that was a disappointment, for an RPG is was really short. Oh well I still have the mana series for the SNES and those are always fun to play.

Oh yeah, you know that FFIV-DS soundtrack I bought? It came in the other day and I just thought to take pictures. Dawezy, this is the badass shit you miss out on by not actually buying anything.

I've got nine, and since you can only have three pictures per post... rather than postwhore, I'll just make all of you click links. Screw off and quit being lazy, chaps.

GAAAAARRRRR I WANT IT! I WANT IT! I WANT IT!
And I'll be having to pay back a loan for a while...

May I ask what treasures the DVD holds exactly?

The DVD menu brings us to three options, none of which I can understand as I've only got (very) rudimentary understanding of Japanese; however, based on the content of each section, here's what I'm thinking:

    1. Introduction
-- This seems to be the intro to the game. It is GORGEOUS. I'm talking early-PS2 quality here, which is badass for a DS game. I assume this is the video that will play when you first start up the game. If, for any reason, it isn't... well, it must be some pre-launch video I never saw before. I'm assuming it's the opener. I'll check YouTube to confirm. *Yes, yes it is, and it's the full size rather than split between screens. DVD quality is, of course, MUCH higher than YouTube rip quality. Kain is still a badass.

    2. Preview Content
-- As best I can tell, it's got the text from the second picture in my previous post (spoken, of course, I can only assume). There are video clips from pre-launch and voiceovers from the characters telling parts of the story. Some of the various in-game cutscenes and such. I wish I knew more Japanese so I could give you a better idea of what's going on. I can sort of tell what most of the scenes are, but it's been a while since I did a full playthrough of the game. In-game graphics are similar to those of FFIII-DS; somewhat N64/PSX quality. Not too shabby.

    3. Developer Interviews!
    -- Sweet. Shame I can't understand it. I bet there's a translation online somewhere.

The only game soundtrack I own is that one that comes with Final Fantasy Anthology and I haven't listened to it more than once. Oh well.

Anyways, I've been playing Romance of the Three Kingdoms 11 lately. I freaking love that game. I was orginially playing the 4th installment of the series for SNES, but strategy games like that take long enough without the lack of flow that comes from old skool gaming, so that's the one genre I prefer to be modestly updated. Dong Zhou is a twat. I'm also looking quite diligently for a Wii, so hopefully I'll be able to land one soon. Good to see you back, Grimm. Stick around, El Hentai Officionato.

Forgive the double post, but you guys should probably stop wanking it long enough to post at least once a month.

So, as for me, I got myself a Wii and I couldn't be happier with it. I don't really even care about the Wii games, save a few titles, but the Virtual Console makes me wet. So I'm old schooling it more than usual now.

    My VC downloads:
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (SNES)
    Super Mario Bros. (NES)
    Star Fox 64 (N64)
    Phantasy Star II (SEGA)
    Super Mario World (SNES)
    Shining in the Darkness (SEGA)
Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
    Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
    Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
    Sonic 2 (SEGA)
    Shining Force (SEGA)
    Shinobi III (SEGA)
    Donky Kong Country (SNES)
    Breath of Fire II (SNES)
    F-Zero (SNES)
    Harvest Moon (SNES)
    Bomberman 93 (Turbo Grafx)
    Phantasy Star III (SEGA)
    Castlevania (NES)
Street Fighter II: Turbo Hyper Fighter (SNES)

Okay, so in retrospect, I didn't really need the bracketed consoles as everyone should know these, but oh well. To reiterate: there's nothing more enjoyable than playing with my wii.

    Post!

    Until now!

I just hit the jackpot. On my day off I went shopping and wound up at Best Buy right as they were clearencing a bunch of their games. I grabbed quit a few and they were all $9.99 and under.

    360:
    Viva Pinata
    Shadowrun
    Prey
    Lost Planet
    Dead or Alive extreme 2
    Raving Rabids

    PS3:
    Dark Kingdom
    Gengji

All those games for under $50. So I have plenty to do for a while plus finishing my other games that I had started. Other than those I had also picked up Appleseed for Blu-ray Im still eagerly awaiting for more anime to be released on blu-ray.

Wow, you actually got some pretty good shit there. Impressive.

On my end, I've got myself set up with a new phone as of a couple of days ago and I'm attempting to do a video game theme for every single one of my contacts. That's 200+ people that I need to set individual songs for. Yes, NEED to.

    My CP?

    I've been playing music. Swish.

Dawezy, I assume you'll want something FFIV related, like, say... Cecil's theme? Cid's theme has already gone to my friend Dan. The DS version, that is -- it sounds quite nice.

    Game-wise, my CP consists of:
    • Jump Ultimate Stars (DS)
    • Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3)
    • Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
    • Final Fantasy XI (PC)
    • Starcraft (PC)

There's totally an old school game there. Starcraft is ancient.

I found myself going through some old PC games this morning. I've found that I have a renewed appreciation for DOSBox and other such programs.

Which brings me to what I'm playing. System Shock. And while it was challenging when I first played it at 4 or 5, now I play it more as an amusement than anything. But it is a beautiful 3D(ish) game. And had nice RPG elements thrown in. The gameplay is still quite unique, even this long after it was released. A wire frame cyber space? Oh and you can bash things with a pipe as a weapon too.

    Ahhh the memories...

Sorry guys, I kinda uhh joined the army and been a little busy with basic training and AIT (army school stuff) Then, to my surprise, I look in my e-mail to see a post from the fuzz masta telling me to come back, of course just auto-mated e-mail.. But I thought Id drop in and say hi anyways..

I have no idea the topic, I just read FF IV and music.. So Im just gonna say Zeromus's end fight music.

Oh and what Im doing, un-addicting myself from WoW and addicting myself to Age of Conan..

Old skool wise.. I beat every final fantasy they've got for a game boy while I was in AIT training and VI still pwns your souls.

Rock out with your 16 bit system out yo.
    That is all, Vivi.

Remember, the objective is to point the gun away from your body and generally facing towards other people and filling them with projectiles. Even if you do have a bulletproof vest on theres no garuntee you wont be a goofball and aim the gun the other way.

Dont ya just love me? XD

Been mixing my gaming up as-of late, as Jin has suggested in some PM's that I stop jacking off to FF11.. well yeah? fuck you too buddy ^^ I'll get some hentai out when I next see you on AIM or xFire, bwu hah hah.

CP: Dug up an old copy of GTA: San Andreas and re-installed it on my comp from long ago, havin some fun yo.. hot damn I love how vulgar the language is in that game seriously. Also had my head dug into Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion (Jins fave game) aslong side some C&C Generals. I would be playing more of the old ORIGINAL C&C titles but they refuse to stop stalling. May be some graphical conflict due to the reason that it has to change to 256 colours to run properly.

    Sigh.

I mentioned work sucks too right?

    Needs moar lottery win, buy me some bitches and a proper sized bar-fridge. This little thing can onry hold so many drinks ;_;

Needz moar Old Skool goodness. That is the decision I came to about my life lately. Too much stupid FFXI. I've graduated back to FFVI now, and absolutely love it!

    And I'm back. O.o

I'm also working on something grand to post here at TFF, and it will hopefully compete with the greatness that my "100 Greatest Games" once was. Speaking of that...I should redo that now that I've had a bit more gaming since then...

    Hmm...

    CP: Final Fantasy VI
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.

In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

    See also classic.

    I'VE DONE IT AGAIN!

    Here's tonight's order...

    Persona 3: Official Design Works
Persona 3 1/7 Scale Pre-Painted PVC Figure: Metis
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Dengeki Data Collection
Naruto Secret and Calligraphy Files - Character Official Data Book
Naruto Secret and Calligraphy Files - Scroll Of Combat Official Data Book
Naruto Secret and Soldier Files - Calligraphy Official Fan Book

This was all purchased on a whim during one of the breaks between acts in Metal Gear Solid 4. Whoops. On the break before, I had done the FFXI update.

Oh, and on top of this order here, there's also the stuff I ordered on Saturday that came in this afternoon...

Animal Crossing Plush Doll - Totakeke
    Namco Dotgraphics Figure with Sound
    Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth Original Soundtrack

I ordered three of those Namco Dotgraphics last week because they were on clearance. That was awesome, they were $3.90 each so I figured I'd see what I could get. I got one Galaxian and two Xevious. I've got a friend who really wanted one, so it was convenient that I got two. I called him earlier and told him I'd give him one. Shame they're shipped randomly though, I would have liked to pick and choose -- not that I mind the ones I got!

I need to stop spending money. I really don't have very much.

    Currently Playing:
    • Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
    • Digital Devil Saga (PS2)
    • Jump! Ultimate Stars (DS)
    • Super Mario World (SNES)
    • reading volumes of the Black Cat manga

We need some new discussions around here, lady and gentlemen.

Well, for a while I had a life and it was going well: girlfriend, job, social life, etc.

Then it all turned to shit. Got fired, got dumped. Was also diagnosed as being mildly colorblind.

I look back, and it's a pity to think I've been going through life thinking dull yellow and light tan were the same color.

    CP:
Playing with Legos, mostly. You are never too old for Legos. Shame they are so expensice.
FFXII: AGAIN. Doctor Cid is a master of dialogue AND monologue.
Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess: Finally have a Gamecube, now I have 7+ years of backlogged Gamecube titles to play.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - Wake of the Gods: Fan-modded "HoMM 3.5" . Pretty nifty, actually.
River City Ransom - One of the best games ever. Barf.

I know, what the hell is with the price of Legos these days? Fifty bucks for a single set? RIDICULOUS.

And I've done it AGAIN. Here's tonight's conquest:

    Final Fantasy XI Piano Collection
Persona 3 1/8 Scale Pre-Painted PVC Figure: Kirijo Mitsuru
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Fan Book -My Episode-
    Okami Official Complete Works

Item the first; I'm a sucker for piano versions of themes... plus, this gets you an in-game item. No, I'm not buying it -for- the item, but it's a nice bonus.

Item the second; yes, I know I already have a Mitsuru statue, but this is a new one! A different one! A more awesome one! An updated one!

    Item the third; an art book from the developers for the fans? {Yes, please.}

Item the fourth; Okami art? No-brainer.

On an old-school note, I found a flawless copy of Romance VI the other day. It's pretty dang sexy. The case is a little cracked up, but I can forgive that for a spotless disc. It just had some dust on it. It doesn't any more. Victory!

Grim is hooked on free MMORPGs now. I was looking at an online gaming magazine one day and saw an add for one so I decided to try it out. Now Im hooked on these 2 games. Flyff and Mapelstory. I also tried sealonline but that wasn't interesting like these two. Also I finally went out and bought Persona 3 and found something interesting by playing it. Golden Week in Japan is only 3 days I thought it was the whole week, just goes to show that games are also educational with some great looking chicks here and there.

Also I just bought a Rei Ayanami figure Rei Ayanami x Shunya Yamashita Figure

Scorpian are you going to be near San Antonio in early August cause there is going to be a anime convention here. Home | San Japan 1.5 - Japanese Culture & Anime Convention check it out. I want to go to the one in Houston but can't make it to that one
