What do you like about the fall and winter season?

I thought this would be a pretty cool topic. I love fall and winter theay are my favorite seasons. Namely I love the rain and the fact that it is colder I hate the heat. I also love the beautiful leaves all over the ground as well and the foliage on the trees.
I also love the holidays as well in the fall and winter. Thanksgiving is a very good holiday about giving thanks to God for all that is in your life that is good or anything and the fact that it is just a nice day to be close with God. I also love Jesus birthday celebration Christmas It is my favorite holiday of all! I love the energy of the holiday and the meaning of the holiday. To me I dont expect gifts I just love and appreciate the holliday itself.

Oh and not to mention the Egg Nog, I love Egg Nog it is one of the best tasting things ever! Do you like Egg Nog?

I don't really like the weather all that much because it gets too cold late at night to uh.. *cough* wear my usual outfits when I go out.

Seriously though, it's all right really. It's more of a lazy season for me because my muse becomes more lethargic and therefore I become less motivated to get things done.

Basically I get more ADD during the winter. =(

Yeah! I do Luv winter season.. it's when we make huge frostman and such things.. I Luv snow.. I don't care if I have to wear 4 cLothes when going out.. it's so cooL.. I love winter. It's the time of the year when Australia isn't so absurdly hot...
As we just entered Summer I can look forwards to thunderstorms, hot temperatures (especially around Christmas) and most years of late we seem to get nasty severe bushfires.

Winter temperatures here tend to be just right most years. =D

Fall: I love the fact that it isn't absurdly hot but not cold either. Warm rain is nice. Lots of birds around as they start migrating, get to see species that I normally wouldn't, like juncos and red-breasted nuthatch. Lots of color, especially leaves. New England is famous for our fall foliage for a reason. Kids go back to school so it's less irritating during the day. And the night chorus of insects is still in full force. I love keeping my windows open, especially at night.

Winter: I'm not fond of this season but there are a few things I can't argue with. Holidays, and even more importantly, holiday pay. Thanksgiving. Turkey, cranberry sauce, pie. Watching a snowstorm on my day off. Tea, lots of it. Coming home from work during/after a snowstorm to absolute silence.

I'm sure I think of more things at some point.

Thanks for all the replies people. IMO Austrailia would be a very bad place for me to live because it is to hot most of the time. However Rotary engines are pretty much well liked in motorsports there so I would really do well in the car community there Rotarys FTW. Dragon Heart I would love to see the foliage in person there in New England. I have seen it on tv it was beautiful.

Not a whole lot actually.
The best parts are the holiday stretch (Thanksgiving- Jan 3rd-ish) and the MLB playoffs and the NFL season. Seeing the leaves turn fiery colors upstate is also pretty amazing, as is the feeling of the first snow of the year.

Other than that, I don't mind the cold, but I absolutely hate the fact that it's dark by 4:30pm. **** that. I also hate shoveling snow, especially when it's to dig your car out of a parking spot.

I think the fall time is pretty nice, it looks really beautiful on campus and is a perfect time to bust out the frisbee football pickup games in the lawn. Those are the days.. Also, football season is up, and that means all kinds of fun on watching the local teams play. Also, this means Homecoming for the schools, which means all kinds of crazy parties that involve lots of great times that I won't remember because of the amounts of alcohol involved.

Winter season is more of a stretch for me to love, I think its all fine and dandy as long as the cold season could be between my birthday (Nov 9th) and New Years eve. After that, no reason for it to be cold whatsoever. I don't mind the snow too much as long as the roads are still driveable, but I do not like all the windy days that the winter brings along with it. I live in Iowa, and even though it isnt as windy as some states (North Dakota comes to mind), it still gets really cold and brings the windchill factor waaay to low for my tastes. However, I do like when school gets cancelled because of it, so its more of a double-edged sword then anything. Other then that, the only other thing I like about winter is the holiday seasons, as thanksgiving, christmas and new years are my favorite holiday celebrations.

My fav thing about fall is when the leaves fall off the trees, golden brown in colour, my lil girl loves the lcrunching leaves on the floor awell.
The best thing about winter is that it means Christmas is coming up, lots of mince pies and custard for me

Fall is nice with all the colours but its right there with spring as the most annoying season. When snow finally arrives here in Finland the first snowfall rarely ever stays so you get this annoying slush like thing that freezes during the night to make everything coated with ice and then melts to slush again in the day. Its annoying and wet and meh.

Winter is great on the other hand. Metres of snow and nice and crisply cold. As long as the temp doesnt fall below -20 celcius (which it often does) im happy.

Well I liek fall because its not too cold and its not hot. The leaves are also beautiful to look at,except when you have to rake them and pick them up for hours lol.Yes it starts getting chilly but its not like 20 degrees and ice and snow everywhere. Also Halloween is in the fall and that's one of my favorite holidays and of course more scary movies come out around Halloween. I like winter,teh snow is pretty to look at too and christmas is fun,and everyone is christmas shoppinga nd has decorations up. Everything just looks so pretty. But this year it dosent feel like winter its been 50 degrees out this week and we havent had snow yet.shoveling is the worst part of winter,especially when you have a big driveway.

I'm not a fan of fall. It's one of those "I'm trying to make you gay" seasons, where leaves turn gay colors and temperatures are neither hot nor cold, which is also gay. At least at the end it doesn't feel like the same season, because it gets damn near cold enough to confuse with February. I like winter, though. Not because I like the cold, but because temperatures aren't stuck in the in-between stage. I like extreme temperatures; either hot or cold. I don't care for "lukewarm" or "chilly." Those temperatures are trying to turn me gay, which is pretty gay in my opinion.

It's all reversed this side of the hemisphere, so, I like winter because my birthday, and several others', fall in those months.

I also like winter because it means cuddling up under warm blankets, hot water bottles, and hot chocolates from Starbucks.

I don't really like cold weather though. I'm an Aussie through and through, shorts are my thing. I hate having to change my attire, and I hate layers.

Autumn and Spring weather is mostly juuuust right.

Summer sucks sometimes, especially when it's like a thousand degrees on Christmas and you want to die from the heat. You can't be bothered with being festive and all about the familia. Instead, you'd rather stick the star on the top of your tree through your eye.

Cold weather. Darker days, more night. Snow. Ice. Warm drinks. Winter clothes. Winter food. Snow. Decorations. A sense of cozy safety. Egg nog. No heat. Blizzards. Ice. Snow. No bugs. And I guess, I still like Christmas to some extent. I love Christmas music and Christmas trees and presents and Christmas foods/candies...just not much on my family.

FALL:
Storms. Leaves. Less bugs. Decorations. Halloween. Horror Movies. Colder weather. Less heat. Darker days, more night. Fall foods. Tornadoes. Festivals.

Things I like about Fall:

1- The leaves fall off the trees and make everything look colorful and nice. Raking them is a pain, but I love how they look in piles and in trees. When the wind blows and little orange and yellow leaves fly off, I get a nice, happy feeling.

2- School starts up again. Though I hate school to some extent, I still love it. Spending time with my friends is the best.

3- The temperatures start going down about halfway through the season. Heat = fail. Cool = win.

Things I like about Winter:

1- Lots and lots of holidays. I get a whole bunch of little breaks from school, and during the month of November, I almost never have whole weeks of attendance because of random holidays. It's wicked awesome.

2- It gets cold. Remember, heat = fail, and cool = win. I have an excuse to wear layers and jackets...or more like I can wear layers and jackets without over heating. Also, when it gets cold, you can eat more stuff. In the winter, I can still eat cold things and hot things without getting too uncomfortable. I love eating ice cream and having iced drinks during the winter. Then, when I eat warm stuff, it makes me feel all nice inside. ^^

Oh, and because of the cooler temperatures, I can run and exercise outside without getting too hot. I hate heat. HATE it.

3- I can see my breath sometimes! It's awesome. That and fog on windows. I like to make little happy faces in classroom windows and pretend to be a locomotive just to annoy the teachers.

4- The sky turns a nice gray color that is really bright, but not sunny. I love how it makes me feel energized.

5- Decorations are always up because of all the holidays that come in succession. I like decorations on houses. They're pretty, shiny, and bright.

Been to Queensland? There's no Autumn. No proper Autumn like in some other states, at least. We have Summer and a very mild Winter here.

The summer is very very hot.

And the winter is... pleasantly cool at most.

I don't react well with heat for some reason. I sweat a lot. I get horrid and lethargic. Even my pups hate it, which means I can't play with them. The swimming pool gets overheated. I break out in heat rashes VERY easily. Which is horrid. I wake up with one most days in summer as I can't afford proper blockout curtains, so I'm laying in sun for a couple of hours before I wake up, which makes me really bad. [Sun rises at 4am in Summer here]. Once I slept in and woke up with heatstroke.

...I don't deal with heat. So that's what I like about Winter.

Have you tried getting black or white blinds? They're pretty cheap. My sister is the same, gets heatrash constantly. She used to sit up in our room a lot because the blinds kept the sun out. Of course, Australia's a lot hot, so I don't really know if they'd block much out. Still, though, they're cheap, so it might be worth a try.

I hate the heat, I'm so thankful I live in a pretty cool country. You can barely go a week without rain here.

I wonder if many of the Aussies here will leave the country when they're a bit older... I personally wouldn't leave England, not forever, anyway.

Yeah, thanks. I dunno. I had white blinds a while ago, but they were pretty flimsy. I need to get those good ones that have the extra layer of blockout material on the back. I actually have what were originally black curtains, or looked to be... However, I guess they were just too cheap. As soon as I put them up, light shone through and it was revealed that they were in fact a dark purple.

After Christmas when I have a little bit of money I'm thinking of just getting multiple curtains and layering them up. >.<

Down here in New Zealand like Aussies its the opposite seasons but fortunately not as extreme as Australia. I hate the heat in Summer and everybodies a lot lazier during the Christmas season but at the same time everybodies more relaxed which is nice but outside of that Summer is horrible.

My main reason for liking Winter is the atmosphere, the whole pale environment combined with the fresh cold air and I just generally feel better when its cold. Unfortunately it never really gets that cold down here just the odd trinkles of snow but mostly rain.

Autumn weather is the best, Autumn and Winter go hand in hand much better than Spring down here as usually in NZ during the Spring the weather easily jumps from boiling hot to freezing cold in 1-2 days. Plus my Birthdays is during the end of Autumn =D

Fall and Winter suck at college. The weather is horrible in Potsdam, NY now and it onnly get colder through the winter. -20F, has happened. Yikes. you get tons of snow. i mean build igloos and stuff i guess, but we get isolated with proper communication.

I'm not a big fan of winter anymore. When I lived in Illinois, it always snowed. Snow MADE winter fun. Now that I live in a desert, there's nothing fun about winter since we have no snow here(only on rare occasions and it's usually very little). All you get to do is freeze your ass off. I hated winter when I went to school, cause I'd wake up early and take a shower.. then the cold would freeze my hair temporarily when I walked to my class.

Fall on the other hand.. I absolutely LOVE Fall. The leaves look so pretty when I don't have to rake them ^^. It's not too cold, either. It's the perfect weather and suits the mood for when I want to draw or write.

I hate summer, I'm like a vampire during, I don't like getting barbecued every time I have to go somewhere. I love Winter though, because you can drink hot cocoa or get the seasonal new flavors of coffee. I would much rater it be cold than hot. When your hot all you can do is get as naked as possible or drink tons of cold beverages that don't really cool you down completely. When it's cold you can drink something warm or snuggle up under the blankets with someone, not to mention you don't have to waste electricity running the AC all day.

Also I get to wear scarfs when it's cold ^^

I love summer so when it comes to an end I am usually sad and distraught but then I remember that winter means hunting season. God I f*cking love to go out into the woods and let my neanderthal instincts kick in.

Other than that winter blows I don't really like the snow that much causes to many problems for me where I live. Plus I like to get outside and run and work out and during the winter I can't do that and enjoy it without freezing my ballz off...

I dislike summer, so that's why I love fall and winter. I like it when it cold because you get to snuggle up in a duvet, with a mug of hot chocolate, usually with all those films you used to watch as a child on the television. Well.. minus the television part for me most days - I lock myself in my room a lot. Plus, it's still very dark in the mornings, so it's easier to sleep in. ^^

It doesn't really snow around Christmas. Ha, it snowed in March/April this year. It's always pleasant. The snow and ice covers up the filth of living in a city, and is a lot of fun to play in if you don't mind the cold.

The only thing I dislike is grabbing a shower at 7am in the morning when it's really ****ing cold. If you need to wake up fast, that's the best way to do it. x__x
