    What can I talk about?

I'm apparently horrible at deciding what makes the cut in General Chat. Which is
A gathering place for members. Discuss anything you wish within this forum, so long as there is room for an open discussion.
I believe that my topic on censorship was a great place for
    open discussion
. And I am curious as to what about my posts gets them moved or closed, when a fair amount of people actually respond favorably to my posting.

I believe people should be allowed to chat about random things sure. But these aren't really discussions as much as random thoughts and stream of conscious. Maybe you should think a little more about what you want to say before you just babble on, and then get upset when we close threads that have no real meaning.

my post on the debate of censorship has no meaning? I believe what happened there, is that someone was offended that the nonsensical name was taken from a less intelligent post of mine and reused to make a point about the negativity of censorship. If using humor to make a point is worthy of closing my thread then why even respond to this one?

Why do you get to respond in one sentence? I was warned for that on my first day. And have since then done my best to respond in multiple sentence answers to further articulate my point. I would appreciate it if the authority figures placing judgments on me would stick to their own rules.

This message brought to you by rational argument.

Yeaaaah. Uhh usually we're lax about the rules but when people act like goons, like yourself then yeah we do enforce them. You're just making tons of threads and they're really not that interesting. We always like activity but it doesn't mean we want crap ideas at the same time.

I'm just saying try to take some more time before you go making new threads every hour, thanks.

Well fuck it, I think Block's posts are entertaining. I don't necessarily have something to say to them, but I enjoy reading his random thoughts, and seeing the awesome videos/pictures he posts with them. Therefore, I declare myself "Pro Block!" Stick it to the man, Block! Row Row, Fight the Powah! I appreciate your existence! Anyhoo...

    I'm pro-Block!

    And proud.

It can't be all serious discussions. It appears I missed this censorship thread (?). It's ironic that it was censored. But an important debate was stifled.

Maybe I'd have to reconsider my generally pro-censorship stance, as I'm getting a taste of my own medicine. I wouldn't know, as Block clearly has too many haters.

Yeah, I partially left due to a post getting censored by a mod for no reason against forum rules 4 or so months back.

I figure if the mod team aren't taking the rules seriously, why should anyone else be expected to? And I also consider Block an asset to these forums as well as the type who won't take mod crap. For a troll, he's one hell of a guy.

Ha. We have to put up with way more member crap than you have to put up with"mod crap."

One-liners are fine (in this section of the forum) as long as they have a purpose and are on topic. Goofy threads are fine as long as there is some kind of topic to be found. The threads I moved to H/WG were moved because they were more like word games. Not because I hate you. The threads I closed were closed because they were basically spam threads. Not because I hate you. The rest have been left open.

Now, the topic about censorship... That puts me in an awkward position. I had no problem with the topic it contained and was going to keep it open. However, if the other GC mod felt it needed to be closed, perhaps to prevent trolling of the staff, then okay. It could have been done a little more gracefully, but what's done is done. I apologize if anyone got upset over it.

I also agree that not everything needs to be serious and intellectual. I like the posts as well.

I also agree that (generally) moderators should lead by example. But, I also get that they know the confines better than new members. If I had been warned on my first day for something that I didn't fully understand I probably wouldn't come back. Just sayin'. I'm also not trying to question who does what, but to see a one liner when you yourself have been warned for that IS confusing.

At least its been explained in this thread.

Who says we don't take the rules seriously?? If we are lax on the rules, we get bitched at. If we turn into rule Nazi's, we get bitched at. There is no happy medium. I guess we could just be stuck up dicks all the time.

Just because we don't catch everything or you don't see everything that happens does not mean we don't take the rules seriously.

It's a loose / loose situation and most of the staff gets that. We know we can't please all the people all the time. In my opinion; we do what we need to when needed. We issue punishment as we deem fit and where deserved.

Beleive it or not, we are not of one sound mind. We each have our own way of going about things and each staffer has different opinions on things and in reality this makes things more fair for the forum goers.

Now on to the topic of Block. Personally I find his threads entertaining. Should half of them still be open? Probably not. Thats not my call (at the moment because he hasnt posted anything really in my sections).

I am glad he is around because he is bringing some diversity to these forums. And we know where I stand on diversity and confrontation.

    So ...

A self-confessed troll who has been here a month, has less than 100 posts, and has already created more than 20 topics, creates another topic, this one about the rules for creating topics, instead of simply asking the people who make/enforce the rules?

Not really any pity here. Hell, I've had something said to me about creating topics centered on religion or politics -- another member has been semi-warned for creating mainly political topics, and another for creating topics only centered around rights and treatment of homosexuals and how evil Christians are. (Granted, those were in ID, with a little stricter set of guidelines, but still.) These members didn't make a thread bitching about it, they asked mods. When a member joins and immediately posts topics about having sex with sandwiches and other complete nonsense, most people wouldn't expect him to stick around for too long.

Especially a member who can hardly make a post without putting a stupid picture in it.

But maybe I'm just an ass.

im pro block for these reasons:
1)theres been a lot less traffic here and more posts =more people, more people=more fun
2)his threads and posts are great and he puts up good points in most threads
3)what would life be without a little diversity
even as a newbe i have seen a lot of good posts from block and i think he should get to keep on posting as he has.

Sasquatch, you are not an ass. Block is eating what little entertainment value TFF still held for me. Goddamn pictures everywhere, and nothing really interesting. (See, you can tell it isn't interesting, because nobody can think of very many words to include about the topics.)

But who am I to judge? I'm a passing observer. I also think that the mods are mostly fair, and that bitchy people with too much time on their hands seriously give them a rough time of it. I know internet is Serious Business and that all your base are belong to us but really, leave them be. They're impartial in a way you could never be. And if you're getting censored on TFF, then hell, why not go say the same thing in some corner of the internet where more than twentyfive-ish disaffected Final Fantasy fans will read it?

I don't usually involve myself in these discussions, and now I remember why.

I appreciate the different input about whether or not my posts are of substantial quality. What this thread has taught me is that there are those who appreciate my style and prose (or lack there of based upon your opinion). One thing I am pretty certain of though is that the amount of traffic in General Chat has increased since I began to post my Topics.

    I'll end it with this:
If you like what I post, I suggest you continue to read threads I make.
If you do not, I would suggest avoiding topics I create.
If you are a mod, I'm sorry for providing more work for you.

Oh and I cannot take this picture insult anymore. Most people on this Forum have signatures on all their posts that contain a photo and a bunch of other quotes and whatnot. I do not have a signature, because I feel that a customized photo to each post is much more entertaining and shows more of my personality.

Apparently you can thank too much. I just tried to thank Fluffy for her opinion, for I thought it was well worded, and it told me that I had thanked too much in the past 24 hours. So if someone wouldn't mind thanking Fluffy on my behalf it would be much appreciated.

The best part about Block for you people who aren't crazy about him, is he's pretty much a GC whore. GC has been pretty slow for a while, so I've got no problem reading more material and still getting to browse my other forums on this site.

I for one welcome his unique style, and embrace the fact that he can provide an image with every post.

Y'know, turning your nose up to Block, and then trying to use the phrase that the "internet is serious business," is pretty damned ironic. And in all honesty, I don't think you really have much room to talk, Ms. Govinda. Given the amount of one-liners we see from you when you choose to grace us with your presence Anyhoo...

Would it be ironic if I pointed out that you are using the word ironic completely incorrectly?

    Blocks pics > lolcats.

    End of story.

    An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
Isn't it ironic... don't you think?

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
    Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
    "Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think?

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
    Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
    In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic... don't you think?
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
    Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
