I always get myself a box of chocolate regardless of whether or not I'm involved with someone because I get the good shit and I love a good (debatable) justification for empty sugar calories.

I guess I'm sort of involved with someone right now, as of very recently, and he might want to do something semi-romantic. But dinner dates often make me ****ing uncomfortable unless I've known the person a long time. I did mention to him that I don't like "first dates" and the reasons why... but I don't know if he'll get the implication.

Honestly, I'd rather we just keep it casual and go out with a group of friends and have a few beers. I'll still dress up in a red dress and heels and we can still makeout later (maybe we'll be at sexin' by then, idk) but Valentines Day sort of creeps me out. So...

Most Misleading Thread 2011: V Day

Even though my girlfriend and I are approaching our fourth year, it won't be anything much. I think she's house sitting for her sister, so we'll end up having sex in someone else's bed which will be interesting but not a night of firsts.

Me and some friends decided to do something different this year since we are all single currently. We're going to a homeless shelter and doing a Valentine's Day dinner for them. Spending some cash ourselves for the supplies but I hope everything works out well. Maybe we will provide a romantic dinner for some homeless couple or something.

Not gonna like I've pulled an Ally before and bought myself chocolates, actually I think I've done that at least 3 times. I like chocolate + being surprised at what flavor they are. I also don't have to feel like a fatty buying them for myself on V-day because I can pretend they're from/for someone else heheh~ It just works.

Even when I am in a relationship I'm not that crazy about Valentines day. I'm usually just happy spending time at that person's house or something. I don't like making people feel obligated to get me something (or else they don't love me). Don't need a teddy bear holding a heart that says "BITCH YOU IS FINE" for that.

I've actually known someone who cried because her bf didn't get her anything, yet he bought her a necklace the a couple days before -_-;

Up until now i've always treated Valentines day as just some way of spending large amounts of money (or small amounts, what ever helps you sleep at night), kinda like how X-mas and Easter have become. But now that im with someone i have a feeling i'll get slapped if i do nothing about it.

Well, depending on whether I have to work or not has alot to do with my plans. XD It's our first valentine's since having our daughter, so we probably won't do too much. I usually try to get my boyfriend some of his favorite candy and maybe a small present every year, and he always buys me HUGE amounts of chocolate. He got me a huge Hersey kiss one year. We don't always exchange cards, but I tend to get some sort of jewlery aith my candy, nothing expensive but cute none-the-less. I could care less about gifts and what not, but if I don't have to work I'd like for us to at least spend the day together as a family and maybe watch a gushy romance movie. He doesn't live with us at the moment so getting time to spend with all of us just relaxing has been a little hard.

Doubt there will be any sexin' since the little one is here. X3 But other wise, actual Valentines will be pretty boring for me. Plan on exchanging little V-day cards with friend that weekend and maybe making cupcakes for the family. I pretty much use all the holidays as excuses to give people -something-. I just like giving stuff. 8D

I see it as a way for sweet stores to sell more sweet things, card stores to sell more more cards, flower stores to sell more flowers etc, it's all about retailers making more money. You're talking about every major holiday. Needless, Valentines Day has been celebrated since the middle ages, so logically, retailers would exploit that. I would.

A few days ago my boyfriend asked me if I wanted something for Valentine's Day. And I told him not to buy me anything. Other than that, he even bought me flowers and chocolate yesterday. I hope he won't buy anything AGAIN for Valentine's Day. Firstly, I don't want any flowers, as I hate how they wither after time (and flowers tend to NOT live long in my room ^^"). Secondly, I don't want chocolate either. (Especially when I got some two weeks before Valentine's Day... I'm not a super-chocolate-fan. I need two weeks to eat it. IF I eat it.)

well...DQVI is being released in the US that day so....yeah other than that it will be a typical day in the life of alyssa - get up, go to work, come home and hang out with the kiddo til its his bedtime. oh and make some cupcakes! cause days like v-day are the perfect excuse to indulge in some sugary baked goods. never was a big fan of this day even if i was with someone. it always seemed silly to me

I'm sorry, but I found that pretty funny. This post was going to be some joke about it, but Rocky beat me to it. x3

Anyway... buying gifts isn't a big thing for me. I don't really care. I don't understand why you need to use one day a year for an excuse to splash out on flowers and chocolate, which are the most chiché gifts you can get anyone that you love. A gift I'd really love is a video game, to be honest. Any day of the year is fine too.

Also, I think if you're going to display your appreciation of love, you should really make something yourself rather than go to a store and buy a multi-produced card that every girlfriend/boyfriend in a five mile radius will have. I'd take a home cooked, private candlelit meal over a stationary gift any day... which again, is nice ALL year around.

This is just my response to people asking why the day exists. It's people who made it into something where the chances of getting laid are absolute zero if someone doesn't get a gift.

Honestly, I don't mind gifts, but celebrating a holiday JUST for getting gifts seems absurd. Well, except for birthdays since those days are all about you.

Nah. I'm so happy being single. I'm not interested in guys, and I'm not sure what I'll even do when I do get a boyfriend. I only celebrate my incredible friendship with my friends, though. xD

So, V-Day is just another day, only that there's pink, candy, and flowers all over the place.
