    Total Lunar Eclipse - Wednesday

    Hey guys!

It's about time I made a thread again. So hey, what are you doing Wednesday night? I'll tell you. Go outside and look at the last total lunar eclipse for the next three years.

The Americas actually lucked out on this one. Sorry, Australia. I'll be watching it from 8:43PM to 12:09AM. Weeeell I might leave earlier than that, the total eclipse ends at 10:51PM. But then, I don't have class the next day, so who knows?

Scroll down and find your time zone.

So those of you who get to watch it, will you go anywhere special?
Have you watched one of these before?
What time will it happen for you?
    Etc etc.

I live about twenty to thirty minutes from the beach (an island, specifically), so I'll be going there to watch it. It'll be nice and dark, and if we drive out early enough, we can go get hotdogs at a nearby restaurant before the eclipse starts.

I'm pretty excited. If I had a better camera, I would be out there snapping like crazy.

    What about you guys?

EDIT: Lunar eclipse = the Earth getting between the moon and the sun.

...What -is- a lunar eclipse? Sun behind the moon? No.. that's solar... Moon behind the sun?.. no...

    Isn't a lunar eclipse just a New Moon? o_O;

    Edit: Oooh.. The Bloody Moon, that's what that is. I've seen one of those before. Sweeeeet. I'll take one with my cellphone. If I can see it at all. -_-;

Wow, this is pretty interesting. Last time I saw an eclispse......I can't even remember the last time I saw one. Not since I was like 10 or something and I barely remember how that eclipse looked like.

It'd be nice to go and see this one this time...

So those of you who get to watch it, will you go anywhere special?
It'll be really hard to see it from where I live. There's this huge hill on the other side of town. From there, you can see the sky a lot better then down here. So I might go there and see it if I go.

Have you watched one of these before?
Nope. Not since I was about since as I've mentioned earlier.

What time will it happen for you?
I live California. It says it partially starts at 5:43 P.M. It officially begins at 7:01 P.M. and the total eclipse ends at 7:51 P.M. And it partially ends at 9:09 P.M.

    Yay for timezones.

EDIT: Toph, a lunar eclipse is when the sun, the moon, and the Earth are aligned exactly.

So those of you who get to watch it, will you go anywhere special?
No I will prolly stay home and watch it.

Have you watched one of these before?
I have never seen any kind of eclipse, ever. Every time that there is one I alway wait to go see it and i forget.

What time will it happen for you?
It will happen around Nine o'clock P.M. here so I will be awake. So all I have to do is remember.

I just love how there's a Facebook event for this.

I wonder if those whom according to Facebook are 'not attending' a total lunar eclipse are planning on leaving Earth or something. Hialrity.

Anyhoo, for us the eclipse is taking place stupidly late at night/early morning. I'll just be asleep... I'm never that excited by these kind of phenomenon. Though i guess if I discover friends are planning on watching it, I may join in.

    Back. For a while. Maybe.

Wait...if the earth is going to be covering the moon, how do you see it? I don't understand that part of it.

So those of you who get to watch it, will you go anywhere special?

I don't do anything for lunar eclipses. I'll be doing my tennis practice when the eclipse starts, and I'll be doing it until after it ends. I guess I'll miss the whole thing...no need to do anything special for that.

Have you watched one of these before?
None that I remember. I didn't know what these were specifically and I still don't...so sorry.

What time will it happen for you?
I have no idea what time zone I live in, but I think it's PST, so I'll go with what Fishie said. The eclipse will start at 7:01 PM and end at 7:51 PM.

Are we going to be able to see this if the moon doesn't get any light?

EDIT: So that's what you meant by "bloody moon"! Sorry about that. I did read the part about the earth, but I thought that since it was blocking the sun's light from the moon that we wouldn't be able to see it. Once again, I'm sorry.

The moon goes Red. The earth doesn't go in front of the moon. Only it's shadow.
    And we can see it, because we're on earth. And so the country/ies facing the moon can see the eclipse. I believe it's been said what a Lunar Eclipse is, so I don't know how you still don't know what one is. >_>;

    Failing biatch moon, blargh!
Prime time for this mofo is around 4am -_- I'm a nightowl so I might at least watch it starting around 2:30 am and maybe I'll stay up..ah well I'll see what I will do. it seems quite interesting, I've seen some in the past, but was a while ago I think, I always love these kind of things.
My house is connected to big meadows, so I can perfectly see it from there I'd assume, if it ain't cloudy that is. if it will be cloudy I won't stay up.. /emo

    Peace out

way to be a sheep Neo!

It fully starts at 9 for me, and I'll be at work in a restaurant in the middle of city by the time it ends. I'll pop my head out around 9 and see if I can see it, but I doubt it. >.>; So chances are, no, I'm not seeing it.

No, I've never seen one, either.

Weather isn't looking too good over here. It's cloudy and raining. So I doubt I'll be able to see it tonight, but I'll try.

I've seen the harvest moon several times, but apart from that, not a whole lot of moon viewing. For some reason, I seem to recall seeing a blue moon as well. As is usually the case, the weather is bollocks, but things are looking good tonight. It'd be nice to see a solar eclipse some time as well, as I don't think I've ever seen one. There's one on August 1st of this year, but as usual, North America doesn't get much.

Yeah. I was actually looking forward to seeing the eclipse but the weather too was horrible. Lot of dark clouds where I live as well and it was raining and windy. Either way, I couldn't been able to see it. It would've been nice to see it though.

It's the first time I've ever seen an eclipse, it was pretty. I'm surrounded by trees and the woods. But thankfully it didn't ruin the view of it and the sky was clear so I got to see it. I wasn't doing anything to special I was just at home on the back deck for a few minutes. I was outside around 11pm when I saw it so thankfully alot of lights around me were off.

    Aw, that sucks, guys.

It was really clear here. The beach plan worked out and even though it was a little cold, it was fun to hang out with friends for a few hours. The moon looked really cool and the stars were amazing. I only wish it had been warmer so we could have stayed comfortable longer.

There were actually a good number of people on the beach. We uh... were approached by some guy named Estevan in little shorts who kept taking our pictures (I can only imagine why). I'm still a little weirded out by that. But hey, part of the experience, right?

I did not know it was today and thought it was tomorrow. I was at my friends house when his parents came in and were talking about so i had to run outside and look for myself. I have to say it looked pretty cool and i was glad to catch it.

I popped out around 9PM (The start) for a smoke break and saw it wasn't fully eclipsed yet (Half the moon was still really dark, a quarter red, and a maybe a tenth was white)

I didn't get a chance to pop back out until after 10, but didn't even think to look at it by then, and come 10:30 clouds had rolled in so it was impossible to see anything.

    Oh well, c'est la vie.
