    Tis the season.....for weddings

I've noticed that around this time of year alot of people tend to get married, so far in the last month, my cousin has gotten married, Matt's sister has gotten married (yesterday), 2 of my friends of have gotten married, and 1 is due to be wed in 1 week and another is renewing her vows in 2weeks.

So I've decided to do a thread oooooooooon.......... you guessed it weddings (fingers crossed this hasn't been done)

Bascially just sharing your experiances or ideas or views on wedding, such as

If your already married how did you celebrate your day?

To those of you who arnt married, do you want to be and if so what are your ideas for your wedding?

And whats your opinons on wedings, do you hate or love them? and say why you hate or love them.

For me, I'm a bit of a misery when it comes for weddings, I ALWAYS have something to complain about food, music etc
I just like to drink and drink and drink

I don't plan on ever getting married, from seeing so many other people doing it I've learnt that it is highly stressful and expensive, and I have enough stress in my life without adding to it and I also have no desire to spend the rest of my life in debt because of the wedding.
To me it's just sooo much hassle and money for just one day.
    Example:
    1) the dress/suit that you only where for one day
    2) food which hardly ever gets eaten
    3) a cake that just get sliced up
    4) a dj and not many people get up and dance
    5) flowers that wilt then die
    6) planning and timing, trying to get the church and venue booked for the same day

and lall you get at the end is a piece of paper confiming the marriage, a gold band on your finger and a few nice photos, which will cost a fortune aswell also with the rings you can pick em up for £10 in the argos so whats the point in spending hundreds on em.

God I sound like a miserable bitter and old woman don't I lol
Anyway thats enough of my ranting.
I did use to want to get married when I was younger, before I realised how hard it would be, I had huge plans, but I will post that later, lets see yoru opinons 1st

I love weddings. If I stay with my current boyfriend I'll probably never get one, because he says it's 'just a bit of paper'. I'm like, yeah, I know, but it's also a massive party and I'm at the centre of it in a great dress with my hair all done up, and everyone is required to spend the day fawning over how pretty I am. Who could ask for more?

I haven't been to a wedding in ages and ages. My best friend is getting married next summer, I don't know what I'm wearing yet, but they're doing it Italian-style because her beau is Venetian. I'm not sure how Italian weddings go. I went to German one once, and it ended with a ceremonial destruction of a ceramic toilet.

Polish weddings are the best. You are literally required to be drunk for three days. Any less, and you're not wishing success on the happy couple.

For my own wedding, I'd love to wear this done in this, my clan's tartan. It'd be great if the men could wear kilts. There's just something about a man in a kilt. Don't ask me what. I mean, you wouldn't automatically think a man in a skirt would be attractive...but there is something about it. I'd love for my wedding to be a traditional Scottish whisky-drenched affair. Current boyfriend's family are American-Italian, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind. His mother's very Scottish anyway, but her clan tartan is minging. McKechnie. Ew.

That said, it'd have to be a pretty cheap affair. No huge cake, no grand reception. Just somewhere relatively ok with a bar. AND ABSOLUTELY NO RENT-A-DJ. Could have some muffins instead of a cake. Plenty of time to think about it.

I know what you mean about the huge expensive ones, Winterborn...I see people at those spending more time worrying about sandwiches than actually partying. I'd hate to get married like that. It's a day when we should be relaxed and cheerful, not stressing over canapes.

So, all in all, my wedding is going to be Polish and the dress scheme will be Scottish. I'm sure the people of Krakow won't mind. They seem to consider the Scots and Irish as a kind of overseas extension of the drunkard family anyway.

Really? Woah... sounds like fun. =D

To be honest... I highly doubt I'll get married. If I do, I'll be in my late 30s - I don't see the rush to get married at a young age, and I don't want to get married until then because I don't know what I want from life yet.

Getting married really isn't that expensive either. Its just the cost of food, flowers, booze and... dolies *shudders* that make it expensive. I don't understand why people detail them out so much... I mean, I don't care if the forks the guests are going to use to eat are made from plastic or polished silver.

My dream wedding: I want a purty dress. Not a big massive frilly dress. Hell no. Something plain and simple - I can't find a decent image of the one I have in mind because google has a shite dress sence. I don't want to get married in a church or registry office because I'm not religious - more spritual. Its got to be outside in a private garden. A japanese garden would be wonderful.

The food will be like small snacky foods and sushi, and the drinks? Mainly juices, various types of alcohol and tea. I don't want a huge, fancy wedding cake either - a two layered high cake, chocolate sponge with white icing will be lovely.

The band? HAHA. I has one already! My friends band, The Doll Age, will play lovely piano music... and some heavier rock/metal stuff. Love my friends. =3

    And the honeymoon? I want to go somewhere cold so we can... er... snuggle loads. >>;

But thats only if I has teh money - which I doubt I'll have until I'm in my early forties anyway. XD

    Oh, and if I bother to get married. ^^;;

haha u know what, i became a june bride last year! yeah me and my groom had a wonderful time together... i can't believe that i'm a june bride!!

Actually, for me summer is the best time for weddings... well u can say that winter is not really common days than summer so it's unique but practically speaking, summer has a lot of advantages like the kind of dress u will wear (i know most of the time bridesmaids, even the brides loves to wear a sleevesless ones or without spaghetti straps) and when it comes to preparations, it is so easy because first of all, u can choose a lot of colors u want and flowers, (it depends on which season is ur favorite time to have your wedding) well, to make it short, summer has a lot of varieties to choose from.

those of u loves to have wedding in fall and winter sounds so good too!! for me it's kind of unique one for me... in my case it happen that in the school where i came from, we are only allowed to get married during summer, so it's not bad to us, most of us actually because it won't give us a lot of pressure when it comes to preparations!!

It's good to be a june bride!!

I'm not fussed. I am an unreligious person who thinks that you dont need to get married to show your love. Coming down to my views, I would rather not, however if my partner wanted to get married, i'd negotiate it with them. I'd get married, but with a few ground rules.
    1. Not in a church. I cannot stand church weddings, and I feel rather awkward in a place of religious worship. My ideal place would probably be in the New Forest. Nice, natural, calm.
    2. Not too many people. I don't see the point in inviting everyone and their mothers. I'd prefer to just have those closest to us. It would take the stress off things too.
    3. No horrid dress. I absolutely hate traditional wedding dresses. I would be fine wearing a dress, as long as its a nice one, not white or ridiculously long, absolutely no frills, no veil. I think i'd be more comfortable in a suit than a wedding dress!

And a minor thing, i'd prefer real food to the party snacks weddings tend to have. I'd also have to be of a decent age. I'm 20, although i'm more mature than a lot of other 20 year olds I know, I have a lot of growing up to do. It would have to be for someone exceptionally special for me to agree to marriage in the first place!

I'm neutral. I really feel uncomfortable with traditional weddings, I tend to be ok when they're more laid back.

My mum and stepdad had a great wedding. It was in a registry office, with 2 of their friends, me, and one of my friends. We were all dressed in what we were comfortable in (a lot of denim and leather, and one of their friends wearing a Napalm Death t-shirt), no real planning, quick rather than drawn out, and at the end instead of some uncomfortable party we all went out for pub lunch!

On a side note, I really don't understand the typical hen night. I at least would not wan't to get off my tits lairy and chase men because its my "last night of freedom". I wouldn't be contemplating marriage if I could so easily lift my skirt for any random. The learner signs and bunny ears are just ridiculous too.

Yes I do want to be married one day! And I have a special someone <3333 (No it's not Squall... jus incase you were wondering ^~)
Ideally I would want to get married at like 22 or something. I want to be sure... And mature. Because I have plenty of things to learn ;3.
I'm not one of those girls who wants a huge wedding. I want something small and personal... A nice dress... family and close friends.

I also don't intend to make the day 'all about me' like many brides do. The day is just as special for the groom! It's his day too <3 I'd want to make it so special for him as his happiness is mine too.

I've never been interested in weddings. I've never felt the need to wear a dress and cake is usually too sweet for me to bother with. I find clothes really boring unless I'm designing them, so getting a dress has never seemed some like big exciting event for me. I own two dresses, one of which is a green Summer dress that I have worn maybe five times over two years. And the other is a long blue one, which I've never actually worn outside the house before.
I have a boyfriend who I've been with for a couple of years now, and he gave me a ring for my engagement finger, but I really don't look at it as if it's a ring promising myself to him. It's just a pretty ring that looks good on that finger.
I really hate being the centre of attention as well. With a passion. The only time I enjoy people paying attention to me is when I'm public speaking and that's a rarity since college ended.

In short, I hate the idea of getting married (although maybe not as much as I hate the idea of having kids.) Maybe I'll warm up to the idea of marriage over time, but I doubt it. I'm only 21 next month anyway, so I'm far too young to make a life changing decision that'll last anyway.

When going to a friends wedding, I am more likely to wear something like this: http://www.omiru.com/wp-content/uplo...ser_082208.jpg
Just so I don't have to pull the dress around all day because that's ****ing annoying.

Ok, just as I said I will put my childhood wedding plans down.

I don't really want to much tradtional stuff, NO plain white or cream wedding dress, it will either have to be black and white, or red, thats right people RED. I don't know why but I just love red wedding dresses.
NOOO wedding cake either, I would want a mountain of mini doughnuts with bowls of melted chocolate around the table to dunk your doughnuts in. Sounds strange I know, but I read about someone doing it in a magazine once. I don't wedding cakes that much too girly for me.
No church wedding, churches remind me too much of a funeral, a registory office is good enough for me.
As for the food I had it planned that I was gunna do my own food, I mean how hard can it be to make a finger buffet, I would want all the fancy stuff like quiche and stuff with prawn shoved into them and sandwhiches filled with crap.
My buffet will be very child friendly, loads of crisps, chocolate cakes, jellies all the lovely home comfort treats. and the sandwhiches will be empty but will have plates on cheese, ham, chicken and salads layed out so that people can make their own choice of sandwhiches
