I thought her 'music' was substandard. What she was really famous for in my view was her reckless reputation as a troubled pop/soul/jazz singer with an eclectic image and a notorious drug habit.

What a shame though, really.

To be honest, I kind of forgot about her. To me, she was one of those artists that I would have liked see get better. Unfortunately, she never did that, so I kind of forgot about her. Maybe it wasn't supposed to happen for her.

I didn't listen to her music very much, but fairplay it's pretty good. Except for the one she did with Mark Ronson, that one was kind of annoying. There's no denying that she had an outstanding voice, and her music was different to most of the songs in the charts in my opinion. May she rest in peace.

That's true... all of them except Kurt Cobain. His middle name is Donald, too, so still no J. Still quite odd, though, lol. Kind of creepy how many there are.

It's terrible and ****ing twisted, but that doesn't make the death of another less important. Just because Amy Winehouse was a junkie doesn't make her death insignificant and less tragic than it it, and neither does the fact that there was a massacre in Norway. And vice versa, too. Just because she was a celebrity doesn't mean her death is more important either, and trust me I've seen a lot of people mourning her death for the sole reason that she's a celebrity. Why must people compare two tragedies? They're both twisted, awful situations, and both involve death, and neither deserve to be made to seem more insignificant than the other.

@Maridia: Those artists may not be to your tastes, but how can you deny they were talented? Each and every one of them has made fantastic music that everybody will remember, and not just because they died tragically and share an age at which they died. Simply because it was great music, how and when they died is just something people like to speculate.

At the end of the day, she was a person and it's a bit low to make jokes. But we all do it, or at least have a little chuckle to ourselves.

Hendrix is overated, yep I said it. I'm not saying he didn't change the way guitar was looked at, that's the one thing I'll give him. But his songs themselves aren't that great. Again when you can take a handful of ones off of itunes and that's it, it doesn't make you a legend. It's the mystique of death people feed into with so many old rock stars.

Joplin sounds like a bad Robert Plant impersonator, without the lyrical talent.. Morrison is a guy people call a "poet" which is pretentious for someone who was built up, especially when you can sum up the doors catalogue in a greatest hits cd.

Saying you hate rap is fine. But if you really look at rap or rock they can be just as 2 dimensional. Someone's blazing and feeling good with their woman, and the others are drinking 40's gang bangin'. So it's just as easy to throw stones at each.

If you want an amazing album listen to something like Quadrophenia, by The Who. Written 95% by one person, who did the synth, guitar, lyrics, and general album concept. There's plenty of good rock and rap out there, but I think you're taking it too personally my dislike for some bands/musicians that you feel are way above others. The whole point of music is a personal value. So what if I don't like a group. It becomes a sports debate of x is better than z. Then someone says pfffft and it goes on forever. Like what you will but just cause I don't think we need to bow down to every band who's name I've heard on the classic rock station doesn't make my taste bad. Just means I'm not one track minded.
