wow those are awesome! i knew the lacewig one i read it somewhere, but not the other one.... i wonder if it really works? i should try it.... JK! i wouldnt
I don't know if any one will be interested in this but i was, i have done some entomology in my time and i found this article in a local paper. Anyway CSIRO scientist have found that the silk made by Lacewings is three times as elastic and duraible as the silk made by silkworms, it contains two fibrous proteins which are folded up like a concertina door, their silk is a cross-beta silk which has a cell structure that has a far greater rigidity than others.
How is this for a smart male insect- An insect called the dance fly the male will pick up some algae and wrap it tightly in silk which they then present to a female and as she tries to unwrap it the male does the dirty on her and gets her from behind with the old one two three and mates with her haha sly dog he is.
A mouth of a perfectly happy man is filled with beer.

Probably a dumb question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. So instead of using silkworms to get silk to make the threads for our luxurious clothes, are people now gonna use the lacewings? It would seem to me that would be a better choice, since it's more durable and elastic. Also, do you think it would be easier to produce, which in turn would cut the price of silk clothing?
The trickery some males would do just to get a little action! Well, at least the female gets a present first. An insect called the dance fly the male will pick up some algae and wrap it tightly in silk which they then present to a female and as she tries to unwrap it the male does the dirty on her and gets her from behind with the old one two three and mates with her haha sly dog he is.

I don't think the Lace wings silk is quite as easy to harvest as silk worms is the produce a strand of silk on a leaf or branch then lay their eggs on top of the strand so ants and other predetors don't detect them and each strand is about 1-2cm long so i wouldn't want t6o be the person trying harvest that haha no they studying it and its quality i think is more to the point, they would have to set up big Lacewing farms and check all the leaves to get it haha like the ladybeetle ranch from Futurama haha.
Yeah but the present she does get just turns out to be a stupid piece of algae haha
