Not in New York. Depends on the age of consent in your state. But there may be a five year rule as well. For instance, while the age of consent in NY is 17, a 16 year old can date a 20 year old since their age difference is less than five years.

Wrong? That depends. A relationship between any two ages can be wrong. I've been in relationships with people my own age in which I've been cheated on and abused. That was wrong. I'm currently in a relationship where the age gap is similar to your own, yet it's been going on for over a year now and I wouldn't consider it wrong in the slightest. But I have no idea what's going on in your relationship, so I can't really be the judge of whether it's 'wrong' or not. That's your desicion.

Why are you advertising the fact that your boyfriend is a whole four years (I mean, like, total wow right there) than you? Unless you're a total vegetable you know that all you need is to wiki the sex laws of whatever state you're in.

It's nothing special. Besides which, he'll get arrested if you're underage, you'll be fine. It could turn out to be a quick way to dispose of him if you are indeed breaking the law and he's really annoying.

You seem to be right dude. The only thing that out here and based on what I know is if there has to be like a little age difference between you and that person instead of a big gap. And you're not supposed to have sex with that person or have them provide you any alcoholic beverages. But in New York, I recall reading something that 17 years old is the age where it's okay to have sex with someone who's 18.

Anyways, I'm not all good with the laws. Age is just a number and is viewed I see it as a "legal organizer". Things like you can't drink till you're 21, can't get your permit till you're 15 1/2, blah, blah, blah...

Anyways, does it matter? Sure, your parents might blow a huge fuse if they find out but I've seen girls that are 15 years old date 26 year old guys!!! And let me tell you, I know some of these girls.

Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn't. I guess it depends on the maturity of the person that you are with. Then again, maturity is what I feel is based on the person themselves and not their age. Age is just a number to me....

Why make it a public announcement? You've already said it yourself in the past that you go through boyfriends one after the other, so who's to say you'll even be with him at the end of the month? i have some insite on this situtation, i was older dating a younger girl and regarless of the whole sex situtation there is the metal status of the couple. a 17 year old is still in high school or is just getting out. the 21 year old has that whole college thing under their belt or still is in college....or just never went and is doing whatever. but still the mental mind set is so different. ohhh i know the 21 year old is going to say but she is soooo mature for her age, yeah yeah yeah. i dont care how mature you are but ur not mature enough to have a relationship with a 21 year old. believe me, i dated a girl who was more then 4 years younger then me and i really thought she was mature but i was very wrong. i had made amends with fighting with my parents and she was still mouthing off and getting grounded.

It's not wrong unless you think it is. If you're happy enough, then don't worry about it being wrong. If he's doing illegal stuff with you, like giving you alcohol, then yeah, it's wrong. You can't really ask other people about how "right" a relationship is since no one but you and your boyfriend knows exactly how you act or feel. But if you're really worried about the legal and moral correctness of your relationship, then look it up, look in yourself, or ask him to go on a "break" until you turn eighteen in the next year.

It depends where you live if it is illegal or not. The legal age varies from country to country. Also in the United States it varies from state to state. In the US the legal age is between 16 and 18, but in some states there is a four or five year difference law. So technically it would be legal in some states for a 14 year old to have sex with a 19 year old. I wouldn't suggest that. You can just google it or wiki it to see if it is legal where you live. I'm guessing it probably will be legal.

It is up to you weather you think it is wrong or not. I don't really know much about your situation so I can't help you much.

like what everyone else said, it depends on what state/country you live in, like Iowa the legal age is 16, some other places are 15, and other places are 18.

If your 17 1/2 years old though, in the laws eyes, you are pretty much not a minor anymore, so if youre worried about the whole statutory rape thing, they wont be able to pin that on you. In any case, I wouldn't bring this up to your parents, because at the very least they would be worried about you dating a person almost 5 years older than you, but that is just my take on it.

Hmm... there ahve been two pregnanceys at my school in the last year 1/2. One girl got pregnant at the beggining of last year, and left school completly - didn't ever come back. She was 15.

No, it's not wrong. It's psychological. Young girls often prefer older boyfriends. It's quite often the psychological equivalent of buying maturity. I should point out that you should make sure it's genuine affection and that you're not using him in the aforementioned fashion.
