Well, it's officially the Silly Season for every part of the world, and that means Christmas trees. This thread is for you to show off your Christmas tree for those of you couldn't gather that from the name. And talk about any crazy traditions involved with setting up, I guess.
We put ours up today, as is tradition. It's covered in decorations and tinsel - not much green to be seen. Luckily, my mother is addicted to Christmas decorations and not crack, or we'd be broke.
One printer box of decorations, one of lights, one of tinsel and another of stuff to go underneath. We set up each year on the first, along with a CD of ancient Christmas Carols set to this epic pipe organ and orchestra. The choir is operatic, so singing along is fun.
So yes. Post your Christmas trees people!

As for us... Well, we're extremely traditional. Most of our decorations are wooden, or very old from where my grandma and her mother passed them onto my mum.
I don't have any pictures, mainly because we haven't put a tree up yet.I'll post it up here when I have one though.

Your trees look great, a great big mush up of baubles and tinsel lolz, I wish I could be like that with tree, mine is organized in just red and gold, and I try to arrange it to look even on all sides and not have too many of one decoration next to each other, my tree isint quite finished yet cos I need to get a new tree topper as I broke the last one, but as soon as I get one I will post a pic.

Wow, that's a lot of ornaments Doc. Lots of character on that tree.
We still don't have ours up yet. Possibly this weekend, depends on what's going on really. I do have a little mini-tree I could put up if I wanted to, I'm just lazy and haven't yet. I've actually been contemplating replacing said mini-tree with two or three Christmas cacti instead. I prefer real plants anyways.

I'm putting my tree up on sunday. it's one of those fiber optic trees, so the ends of branches constantly change colors. We'll also be stringing it with traditional lights, as well as loading it with ornaments of every shape and size.

Ours goes up the weekend before Christmas, unless Christmas is on a Monday; then it goes up two weekends before. We get sick of looking at it if it's there for more than two and a half weeks. We usually take it down Jan 6th, for the feast of the Epiphany/ Three Kings Day. Then again, we're the type of people who don't think the Christmas season starts until Black Friday, and that it's unacceptable to even start playing Christmas music until the 15th. We tend to keep it pretty traditional, mostly with ornaments that came from my parents' childhoods, as well as mine, along with some that they bought when they got hitched.
Always a fake tree too, because we did the whole real tree once, and the pine needles were everywhere. Plus it's a fire hazard, and as much as we enjoy irony, I don't think anyone would appreciate the thing providing us with joy also burning all of our crap to the ground.

Me and my brother set ours up as a surprise on Friday for my mum and nan. Haha... it was a long proccess in which I kicked my brother in the nuts and endded up with a punch in the nose. But hey, the tree looks... good!
After all the parts were put together (Yup - damn plastic thing which smells like the back of a dusty cuboard. Go figure...)

Half an hour to untangle the lights?? I woulda done my nut lolz.
Here's a little useful tip for lights, use net lights, the ones that you hang at the window, they are easy to put up, all you have to do is hold each end of the net in each hand and hug the treeit took me 2mins to put the lights on this year, normally it would take half and hour.

Here's a little useful tip for lights, use net lights, the ones that you hang at the window, they are easy to put up, all you have to do is hold each end of the net in each hand and hug the tree
It took that long because there were three sets of lights all in the same bag, and they were all tangled. After we got one set free, we couldn't be bothered with the rest. Then we untangled the one we manged to get out the bag, and put them up! ^^
I have a tip to stop mess from a real tree getting all over the place - I did it last year, and it worked ok. My tutor told me to put the tree in a bucket, and our some water into it everyday. The tree gets water like it would normally outisde, and will not drop green bits everywhere!
