Anyone good at Poker (specifically, texas hold em) on the forums here? I've started playing a lot of poker for fun recently on different websites like Pokerstars, and I want to get better but I don't exactly know how to do so. Obviously playing online vs real people is a whole different story, but we all gotta start somewhere right?! I'd like to eventually build up a bankroll and go to local casinos and start taking people's money but I need to learn the metagame stuff. I know the rules obviously, I need tips and advice though, if anyone has advice or material they should suggest me reading, then send it away! (I hope selcopa sees this thread lol)

PS: Just for my background, I've been going to casinos since I was 19, I've made definitely more money then I lost playing blackjack but I realize that BJ is a dealer vs player game, whereas Texas hold em is a whole different ballgame. I know basic stuff like playing on tilt is a no-no, etc. I dont really know how to play my cards though, so any help with that would be ACE.

I used to play on 888.com or something like that it was called, I was ok at it but only because in the left corner of my screen it told me what was the best hand I had was, without that I would be lost because I can't remember them all off the top of my head.

Used to go to poker night with the boys. I was the only one with tits there. I can play a good game of Texas Hold 'Em, but it's been awhile. I'm a bit out of practice. Never played online, though.

Do you work for full tilt poker or something? This is such a good advertisement I'm tempted to report it.

I've played poker a couple times. I'm not what you would call good, but whenever we have pipe nights and play poker, it's fun. I love watching poker on television when it's on, too.

I work support for a online Poker company, you wont learn much with play money as your playing with fake money. No risk what so ever, so people tend to call everything and anything and you learn nothing, play money is only good for learning the basics, like what cards beat what, thats about it..

For advice, google is your friend. But If your looking to get into it big time let me know and ill ask some of the guys in here which are good books etc

I dont play much myself, its far too slow and boring to keep my attention, i only tend to play offline with friends whilst getting drunk for a bit of banter..

I play. I learn by playing the analog, non-digital version. Playing online is just dumb, imho. Also I never played for money until recently. Usually all my gaming was just for fun, or like quarter ante.

I'm not a fan of Texas Hold'em. I don't mind watching it, but I don't understand why that's the current poker fad. I like playing Spit in the Ocean and five card draw. Outside of that, I'm not that into it.

I never play online, but in High School I was a poker fiend. We had twice a week poker night $10 buy in. I would take all there f*cking money haha.
