You ever seen a cute flower? Can a tree cry in pain?

Why yes, yes I have. Can an animal communicate it's distress via chemical response which also signals insects to help defend itself at times? Just because plants don't communicate via soundwaves doesn't mean they don't communicate.

Is taking the ethical high ground honestly what you think James is trying to do? Is this seemingly obsessive need to discredit James' decision a means by which to take him down an ethical peg? What's the point of it? There's no such thing as an ethical high ground. Ethics aren't arranged vertically and James isn't acting as if he is above you in some imagined, ethical hierarchy, so why all the effort to prove that his decision is ethically irrelevant?

    Until now!

Yes. No, it's really just me wanting to see if anyone had a good reason to be vegan/vegetarian. The point is to satisfy my own curiousity and also that I was bored while working and my phone has a web browser. Ok you claim there's no such thing as an ethical highground. Why then can I find several sources suggesting the concept with a quick google? Still if you show evidence my eyes are open to it. My point has been that many people that are vegie exclusive claim a moral or ethical highground and there is none and they have no other pursuading reason for why they don't eat meat. I mean 'meat is murder', WTF man, vegetables are murder. And not only that but no-one seems to give a shit because they're not furry and able to communicate using soundwaves.

There ain't enough pure carnivores to balance the vegetarians out.

So.... because there is a study that says plants are sentient, you feel you should completely disregard the obvious sentience of animals?
    Curious?

Long story short, he's doing it to be more like Morrissey. It's not so much for his own ethics, but rather to emulate someone else's... in hopes of getting laid.

This whole discussion is pretty moot... and getting retarded.

So Nathan, if we're murdering plants and animals, how are we going to survive? I don't think feelings of moral superiority fill the belly like a good ole steak n potato dinner.

No, I just think I should eat both so it's balanced out. That or become a true carnivore to start equalizing things. I had the best idea for a chicken burger honestly. Think two steaks instead of a breadroll, chicken and cheese as usual and bacon rashers instead of lettuce. I also figure that BBQ sauce might be the way to go over mayonaise or whatever.

Silver has, above, admitted that he can hear trees crying.

I think we need to move for him to be sectioned, for the safety of himself and his community.

No I admitted I've seen a cute flower!!!
Afterwards I just mentioned trees communicate differently, not using soundwaves.

Silver, listen close. You're in what we call 'advanced psychosis'. It's no longer up to you to determine what you did or did not say. Ok?

You can find empirical proof that certain behaviors are objectively more ethical than others on Google? Really? I don't think I'm the one that needs to provide a source.

My point has been that many people that are vegie exclusive claim a moral or ethical highground and there is none and they have no other pursuading reason for why they don't eat meat.
    A) Why do they need a persuading reason? It's their choice; they don't have to justify it. What reason do you need other then that they feel eating meat is wrong? Ethics are just feelings after all. B) Even if all other vegetarians in the world talked down to you from an ethical high ground, James hasn't been, so why direct your probings towards him? All he did was state he was a vegetarian and ask for recipe ideas. Then you and others started jumping down his throat about it.

I mean 'meat is murder', WTF man, vegetables are murder. And not only that but no-one seems to give a shit because they're not furry and able to communicate using soundwaves.
Are you smoking some of these plants right now?

    Until now!

I always did feel that sometimes the most craziest seeming people were the most sane.

Anyways, my plans for true carnivore living will have to wait because I'M MAKING WAFFLES!!! Probably the only reason I'm still on my phone rather than a pc. Nothing beats waffles at 5:30am.

@ Jinn: Did I say I could provide empirical evidence using google?
I want WHY they feel eating meat is wrong. No-one has to share such information with me but I did state it had me interested earlier. Why do you care so much jinn? Are you a vegan or vegetarian?
I think this is the part where I say something like 'go suck a banana'. Or a carrot. Or a cucumber. Or one of many other similarly shaped vegetables.

No. The craziest people are never the most sane. Stop justifying your ass-backwards, tedious shit about crying trees and cute flowers.

I'm calling my first concept album 'Vegetables Are Murder'.

I used to be. These kritika i samokritika sessions (whether they're being passed off as curiosity or not) get tiresome after a while.

Food and water are the foundations for what we need to keep homeostatis. Without them, ethics is unnecessary since we would not be living long enough to debate the sentience of flora, fauna, fungi, snowflakes, dead trees (wait if it is a dead tree it has no sentience since its dead amirite?), my laptop, and Captain Kirk. Food > all.

I'm thinking Chick-fli-a sounds good for lunch today, that way I can save the cows and milk them later instead of eating them off right away. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Unwanted sensual advances?

James, I'm just talking out of my ass. I'm still convinced that this is all an attempt to bang some Greenpeace chick. The again, my cynicism is all fired up today.

And lets see. Unless this is some kind of videogame world or Pocahontas, I don't think the plants can communicate with themselves or us. I understand that plants may react to their environments, but that is nothing more than adaptation, and not becoming educated or learning. Take for instance how plants bend towards sources of light. I don't think the plant thinks to itself "Oh boy, the light is over there, let me point my leaves to it." It's just an adaptation in order to survive and maximize the amount of nutrients it can get from the sun.

Also if all you ate was meat, with no other sources of food, I'm convinced that a, you would not shit for a week at a time, and b, you would probably have terrible cholesterol, be overweight and probably have a heart attack at a young age. Now don't get me wrong, meat is great (**** you in advance, block) but too much of it just can't be good for you.

Thread closed because when James asked for recipes and ideas, you people thought he wanted to know how much you guys like meat in your mouths.

    I went there.

Also, thread starter wants the thread closed so thread closed.
