So I have undergone day two of being a vegetarian and I realize I have no idea what I am doing. So far, I have survived on apples, raisins, and rice. I need more. Tell me more.

Most important step: differentiate whether your opposition to eating meat is intellectual or moral. If it's just the former, stop being a vegetarian as two years down the line, you may realize that although the argument against eating meat makes sense to you, you just don't care.

Otherwise, pasta, bread and cheese! And soy meat. It's not as bad as some think.

Um, salad? lol soups, stir fry, and how about beans? make some tostadas or something, be creative. Rice, apples and raisins are a horrible combination for food

my dad makes tostadas that are simple and you don't need ground beef. Just fry a couple of flour tortillas, heat up some re-fried beans and then all you need is to cut up some tomato, lettuce, and whatever else you want. Slap it on the tortilla an there ya go.

EDIT: and you can eat Jack in the box taccos ! they use soy meat.

I had to basically go vegetarian to drop fourty pounds so I could enlist in the marines. I ate a lot of white rice. It isn't to bad to eat, plus it is kinda healthy. Like Jin said soy meats, I eat soy hot dogs all the time pretty good, and they are not bad. You can also try tofu, depending on how you cook it, it can turn into a very delectable treat. They have tofu bacon, tofu hot dogs. all of which are not that bad at all..

How strict of a vegetarian are you being? A vegan, or will you eat eggs and fish? My brother was a vegan for a while. He isn't anymore. Last I saw him, he and his family had made spaghetti tacos... Inventive. He also likes a lot of bean products. Hummus. Damned hummus...

What I'm saying is, be inventive. Maybe. I dunno, because I'm not a vegetarian. Anyhoo...

Vegans generally also don't eat milk or eggs of any kind. Which means you have to start reading the labels. You'd be surprised how many things contain modified milk ingredients.

Eggs are one of the better sources of protein out there. The yellow is fatty, but the whites are more or less pure protein. One egg white is more or less the equivalent of an ounce of most lean meats. Even if you happen to work out a lot you're basically set with it, though in that case you may want to consider supplements regardless of diet. Have a nice omelet or something along with some bread (which can also contain good levels of protein) and you're pretty much set for the entire day.

Milk and cheese is good, obviously. Fry up some tofu if you really like soy? I don't recommend peanuts or nuts though. It's a nice snack, but will probably end up with you gaining lots and lots of weight fast.

You can easily get by without changing much if you're not vegan. You just may get sick of not having juicy and tender meat. God that stuff is good.

I don't think I could ever be a vegetarian, but ya know, if you're going down that road, Boca Burgers and Boca Chik'n aren't half bad. Especially Boca Spicy Chik'n. Those things are mighty tasty, and pretty damn high in protein too.

I'm like the opposite of a vegetarian, though. I gotta have my meat. And don't take that the wrong way. But if you do anyway, I like dark meat the best because it's generally bigger and more filling. But seriously I don't like dark meat if it's chicken. Just if it's cack.

I went vegetarian and I got really sick. My mother made me eat meat from then on. I really liked it while it lasted. I thought about going vegetarian again and I mentioned it to Martin but then it would be a hassle, especially when we went out to restaurants so.. I don't think I will.

I find a lot of vegetarian food to be really nice though. I prefer vegetarian pizza and tofu is good too.

I love meats, but if I had to go vegetarian I don't think it would kill me, whenever I go out to restaurants I usually get some type of Pasta or salad anyway. Which makes me wonder why I don't go to Olive Garden..lol

Out of an estimated 3,301,112,087 women in the world you are giving up meat to try and rail on 1? I could rant about this one for about 20 paragraphs on how weird and not smart this move is. I will cut it short and just say, she had better be the best lay in that you ever have James.

If you where doing this for your self for personel reasons I would be a little more supportive.

Now onto the topic at hand, I see people recommending all types of food and I will go a different route and go with spices. Remember that you can diversify many dishes just by adding different spices to the mix. Hell you can make things taste comepletely different by doing so.

I tried to go vegitarian once, didn't work out to well. Couldn't give up my hamburgers and steak.

I once read somewhere that the reason humans have so many health problems is because we cook our food, add preservatives, etc.

They were saying that eating raw fish and all these other things uncooked is the way to less health problems.

I can't remember where I read it, and I'm not sure if it's a valid point or not. Would be something interesting to post on a message board and let someone else research the answer for you.
