Ahahaha whaaaaat? "Are you Mexican?"
Are YOU Mexican?
My parents didn't forbid sweets, but we didn't really keep them around either. My brother and I are both pretty thin. We started with good habits early-on. Although! One way my parents convinced us to eat our dinner when we went out to eat at cafeteria-style restaurants was to let us eat our dessert first. We could see it on our tray, we wanted it, and once we had it, we were perfectly happy to eat our veggies. So, my parents were willing to work with us as long as we too were willing to cooperate. Sweets weren't forbidden fruit, but they weren't in abundance either.
I'm guessing my first treats were chocolate of some kind, but I don't remember.
