Oh god, the Scottish accent is ridiculously hard to make out when it's written down. I'm also from England although Liverpool-ish but i don't have a scouse accent so i refuse to try and decipher the slurs and make them into letters.

Yeah everyone says that Scottish is quite hard to understand when it's written phoenetically. Are you from like Widnes or round-abouts?

Yeah, I'm quite good at understanding people either way. Except in Aberdeen (Scotland). Most other places in Scotland can't understand even the Aberdonians. They actually have made-up words for lots of things It's really difficult if they are born and bred Aberdonian, and speak very fast

I remember watching a show once with Scots in it (I think it was Life Of Grime?) and I remember thinking that'd it be good if this show had subtitles, because I found it difficult to make out what was being said lol. I do like the Scottish accent, just hard to understand sometimes

Yeah it is kinda hard for most people to understand I'm from Inverness though (beside Loch Ness) and our words are VERY pronunciated. Most can understand Invernesian accents quite easily.

I remember SuBo had to be subtitled on American TV shows, because none could understand her. Then again, she was from Ayrshire and mumbled and stuttered.

I prefer New Zealand to Australia actually. It's the closest thing to resemble Scotland than anywhere else in the world. Plus ... Lord of the Rings was filmed there xD

The validity of warnings, and do you actually care if you get a warning?

I received a warning on the basis of carrying on an argument after being ''warned'' to stop arguing (even though the said person's ''warning'' didn't even hint at 'stop arguing').

The post I received the warning for consisted of myself actually stating that I was no longer going to be arguing as I wish to avoid warnings for as long as possible. This questions the validity of warnings, as they are handed out for the most miniscule discrepancies, with no substance to support the reason for the warnings. What my warning tells me, is that the person who “warned“ me to stop arguing, has seen me say “I am not going to argue anymore.......want to avoid warnings“ and thought that they would just hand one out.

Now for the next topic, Do We Care About Warnings?

Well, yes I would have liked to avoid warnings, however, I'm not phased at receiving one. If it's for a good reason, and the reason is valid, then yeah, fair enough. But, even if the reason is unjust, I still personally (don't know about the rest of you, please share opinions) am not really bothered. Yes, to an extent, warnings keep people in check, and are there to “punish“ the offenders, but it's not like a warning on a forum is going to deter the worst offenders, it's not like the warning will affect your ACTUAL life. It is just binary code, which is coded to come up as little red writing on the bottom of your screen.

End of rant lol

Please answer both questions as honest as you can, but not flaming, “arguing“ (since someone else can enter your brain and decide that you're lying, not debating) as you may be given a warning.

Be good, don't be bad, this is a decent forum, it's just the Human Condition that gets in certain people's way when they are given “power“ over pixels

P.s I quite like my warning now, it reminds me that I'm not afraid to just say what's on my mind without “dressing“ it up.

Precisely, the system should be fore those who are OBVIOUSLY trying to either tick someone off, or try to insult someone. The fact it was used because I posted to END an argument, is just ... Well, looking for an excuse to hand out a warning basically.

But like you said, life goes on, warnings are just red letters on a screen, they won't limit anyone's chances of having a job, getting a mortgage, finding love, so chillax <--- always wanted to use that word

Warnings aren't what they used to be. Back in the day, it used to be a three strike system. You do anything wrong and get caught, it'd be a warning. There would be mass debates on if TFF was too strict, and definitions of "spam" and "is". It was glorious.

I've never had a warning (someone had better pat my head) . Why have i never had a warning? 'Cause i'm a good boy, and as most of you are saying it's only the internet. The thing i don't get is why people argue things to death on the internet, of course it's a community and there will be disagreements but if you choose you never have to talk to the person again in most cases.

Also warnings help to create first impressions, I usually rank them like this:
1) Probably just an accident
2) I'll keep an eye on this person
3) It's Che

This is the thing, even things that aren't argued to death, just people exchanging opinions led to a warning, or in my case, telling a certain member that I am no longer arguing with them, which led to ME getting a warning.

It's mainly the unfairness that pisses me off, but if that's how people roll on here then that's ok I guess, i'll just have to learn how to manipulate my way around future backlashes
