I appreciate what you are saying here but it wouldn't work. Not for some people anyways. When I was 18 I had no responsibilities, no financial ropes tying me into a life of mundane repetition. I used to go out and party like 4-5 times a week with no thought of consequence. If I did that now I'd be homeless and hungry. I couldn't create those times now in any way unless I won the lottery.
Also, many of my friends now have the same bonds as myself. This means that they have less time to hang out. Mostly when they have free-time I don't. Also, two of my oldest friends are now abroad and one died. So creating a new memory with them is near on impossible.
In short I, and I'm guessing quite a few other people in the world, would love to re-live rather than re-create.
Don't get me wrong, I'm making new and exciting memories all the time. I still have days when I wake up and think 'last night was EPIC'. There are still a few that I'd love to go back and feel again, though. I'm almost always in the same viewpoint as you (forward, not backward) and I'm always upbeat. I'd just love to go do some stuff again. No consequence, no financial bonds... No real responsibility. Just careless youth.
This sounds like I'm having a go. I'm not. I'm just showing a different perspective.
