See, I thought that this was a serious post and all, until you mentioned the fact that you beat your boyfriend in Tekken, and I immediately laughed. Anybody can win in Tekken, from my 80 year old grandma to my 3 year old shih-tzu. This is because the game encourages and rewards buttonmashing, and the very thought you menton that you good in fighting games, but not in the 'button masher' way completely contradicts the whole order of things. Anywho, I'm not here to make judgements, but if you can consistantly kick your boyfriend's ass in VF4:EVO and Third Strike, then that would be worth mentioning.
*Are you a sore loser when you play vidgy games?
It depends on the situation. If I'm sitting at home playing on xbox live or just chilling with some friends, I could care less. If worse comes to worse and I am consistantly getting beaten down by the same person, then I usually try to take a step back and figure out why that is the case, or I'll ask them for tips, since they are (most likely) on a different level in playing then I am. If it is in a tournament scene, where money/pride is on the line, then hell yeah I'm gonna try my damndest to win. If I lose, I'll probably be down on myself, but I'm never going to get upset about it. It's all about learning how to outplay your opponents.
*Have you ever had to (or wanted to) lose so that another player (or players) would feel better?
Not unless I'm really bored or just want to stop playing period. If I keep beating the player again and again, I will usually try different tactics or make an innovative strategy that I would not normally do, and if it works out, then I would add it into my strats. If someone wants to repeatedly play against me, then they want to become better, so I will give them that opportunity by doing my best against them. Who wouldn't want to get better at something?
*Do you think what happened was right?
Me beating them? Well, in a simple math equation, yes, because the world would be all kinds of screwed up if x>y just some of the time, then x<y at different times. If you are talking about in a moral acceptable standard, I think that is impossible to judge, because I think the way we see what is 'right' and what the universe sees as 'right' can be two different things.
*Do you think how it was handled was right?
Again, that is very subjective, however I will say that I wouldn't have became as good in games if I wasn't consistantly challenged and/or beaten all the time.
For the record, I will never be beaten by any girl in a shooting game, and I will never be beaten by anyone in general in the specific games of Snowboard Kids for the N64, or Soul Calibur 2 on any system. (just don't be a fag and use spawn/heihachi/link) That is just how it is.
