    I Quit

Ok, so I decided I'm not going to deal with my asshat of a manager at a job I've been working at for 2 weeks. He treats me like crap and more or less belittles me and makes assumptions about my own life and aspirations.

I'm quitting today and I'm just wondering if I should do it first thing in the morning and enjoy the rest of my day, or do I screw him out of an extra 40 bucks on the day and quit when I leave.

I'll be checking this when I get in, so HURRY!

Hmmm hard to call, I think you should wait a little.....I mean you just got the job right? but if he really is an ass, idk what to say. O.O; you sure he's not just messin with you because you're new? even if not I don't think it's a good idea to do anything hasty.

    Alright, who censored my rocketship?

    From The Clint Eastwood
I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

    Re: I Quit

I would actually vote for an option not on the poll: do it the proper way, put your two week notice in and stick it out until then. Even if it's a job you'll never ever come back to in your life, you never want to burn bridges like that if you can avoid it. You just never know when it's going to come back and bite you in the ass...

Also, depending on what kind of job it is, he could blacklist you as a DNR (Do Not Rehire) in a network of companies, meaning you wouldn't be able to get another job at any number of other places. There is one in place for many major retailers; I'm sure there are others for different types of jobs. If he's as much of an ass as he sounds like, he'd probably be the type to blacklist you and screw you out of much more than the $40 dollars you could get him for.

    Re: I Quit

It has only been two weeks. But if you hate it that much to quit after two weeks, go ahead lol.

I'd screw them out of money, but after the length of time I'd been there... I'd stick it out a little longer. Screw them out of some more money. ;P

    Re: I Quit

I'm with DragonHeart. Do it the proper way. I know it's really hard to put up with some of the stuff he's pulling on you and putting you through, but if you just walk out and he gets called up to see what sort of worker you were, he might not be too keen on giving a good report.

I know that sounds like a rather long time to stay at a job you despise, but I think it really is the best option.

    Good luck.

    Re: I Quit

If you're hard up for money, I'd say to stick it out for the day... or better yet don't quit until you've found something else. If money isn't a concern, you've only been there for 2 weeks. Quit and then go find something else.

From an employers standpoint, if its screwing him over that you're more wanting, quitting at the beginning of a shift is killer. Then you're scrambling to find someone to cover your shift, or your co-workers get shafted with extra work to (again) cover for you.

    Your call.

    Re: I Quit

Bro if you really need the money than stick it out , I'm sure it will get better.
But if you don't and your other job can maintain your living then quit. How he seems like he treats you, he dosent deserve a 2 weeks notice tell him to shove his computer up his ass .I know how it is to be talked down too by your boss, luckily I have 2 and the one with the higher power loves me so she won't fire me. But the other one would in a heart beat , so since she can't fire me she makes my life a living hell, treating me like a 5 year old with a mental impairment.
So if you can live off your other job then I would quit. But that's just me dude.

Give your today notice, you quiting to day.

Tell him you have vision problems because you just can't see yourself working there anymore.

Actually have you just tried to sit down and talk with the man? More then likely he will not change how he acts.

Best bet, just go in there (be civil) and tell him that things are not working out and that you wish to terminate your employement with the company effective today.

    This sounds familiar...
I had this exact thing at one of my jobs. My manager did all the stuff you mentioned to me. I just told him to stick it.

Do it as soon as you can.

Ok, thanks for all the input guys.

I wound up not quitting yet. I don't need the money, since I'm already working another part time job. My boss was better today, nicer and not so much of a douche to me. For now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but if I get another talking to, it's game over on the spot.

Nothing is better than just ****ing off all day and quitting at the end. If you're not planning on doing the two week notice for the reference than I suggest you enjoy you're last day. I know this is too late, but it's still how I'd handle it.

How the hell do you have two jobs when I can't even get one? Do not quit, because if you do, karma will probably figure, "Quitters don't deserve to be financially protected," and you'll be immediately fired from the other job. Then you'll be like me; laid off and pissed off.

Put in your two weeks notice, if its that bad, but don't walk out. For the first week do some research on jobs that are hiring in your area, and make a list so you know where to go and what your doing. After that spend your last week filling the applications out and turning them in after you get off work. That's what i did, and it felt way better then what i did at my first job! (The good old walk out) Well theirs my two cents, hope it help's pete! good luck man!

    Re: I Quit

I stuck out a job I hated for over a year, and quit/got fired in a ball of fiery glory with a screaming match between me, my chef, and his boss, on 21st birthday no less.

That bit me in the ass; I'd suggest a 2 week warning with being open and upfront about your reasoning. I've quit two jobs abruptly, but it was during my training period, as I was lied to at both places about what my duties would be; I just called on my 2nd/3rd day and say it wasn't going to work out, and moved on.

    Rawr.

On topic, give two weeks notice, don't be a **** unless the guy really leaves you no other choice with a ton of douchebaggery and you should do fine. DNR is one of my least liked abbreviations, but thankfully my way of doing things suits my current line of work very well.

If the guy does get so douchey you feel a need to erupt, you might as well go all out as it'll have negative repercussions either way, but I'd recommend not erupting at all.
