I need some advice...

I met this girl last year, but we only really started talking about 6 months ago when we started working together. As I got to know her, I really started to like her, and for a while I thought she liked me too, we went out for lunch and got milkshakes together and stuff like that a few times, but nothing I wouldn't really do with any of my other friends, not that I really have that many other friends.

I can't stop thinking about her lately, not like 24/7 or anything like that, but I mean a lot. Well I never got around to telling her how I felt, because I wasn't really sure if she felt the same way, so basically your average "need girl advice" thread, but today I went and did something off a whim.

I've been to her house a few different times before, so I know where she lives. Today I did something insane, something so unlike me, something unpredictable! At risk of seeming a little creepy, I wrote a letter and put it in an envelope. I signed the letter with "Your secret admirer," and placed it at her door step along with a red rose I had just bought. Then I knocked on her door and ran faster than I have ever run before.

Well when I got home, I got on Facebook and saw that she just updated her status, it's addressed to her secret admirer (me), she wants to know who wrote the letter. Well here is my predicament, do I tell her it was me or not? If I should tell her, should I tell her now or wait a day or two?

Well, you probably should have started by just being upfront with her and telling her that you like her. Doing the whole secret admirer thing could potentially blow up in your face. If she put it out on fb, what's to say that three other dudes haven't already taken claim for your work?

I would take claim for it though. I'm sure she might be a little weirded out by you not being up front and just telling her, but who knows. Best case it works out, worst case, you have an answer and can move on.

You have 2 options.
1. You dont tell her, nothing happens.
2. You tell her, you will have your answer or at the very least, things will move forward.

You can tell her face to face, or you could tell her over facebook. Telling her over facebook may prevent you from being kicked in the balls.

I third these notions. Anyway...what you did maaay have been too much. 6 months doesn't seem long enough for this "secret admirer" stuff. That comes off as the L word...and commitment, both of which people aren't exactly ecstatic about. You can either play it off, or go through with it, but make sure no one else takes credit. If you really wanna play this secret admirer crap, you're going to have to keep on it. But the best thing (at least in my opinion) you can do is admit to it, and admit it was a bit silly, say you do like her and ask if she wants to go out. Simple as that. Worst you can get is a no, which isn't that bad, because then you know. If you're friends, she wont make fun of you or anything.

Honesty is a virtue. It doesn't matter if she liked it or not, just be honest. People like honesty. I for one think it's attractive. So, man up and tell her it was you. You should have told her your true feelings in the first place and completely ditched the whole 'secret admirer' idea. That's a little league thing to do. You're in the big league now! Go for it and put all your chips in. What's the worst that can happen? Really?

I don't think you need to worry about 'other guys taking credit', unless the girl posted the whole letter up, in which case she'll never find out who really wrote it (and what an idiot), if not, you can simply quote a few well-selected lines from the original letter to prove it was you. (the cheese thickens)

There's no doubt, though, that you've put yourself in a potentially embarrassing situation - I agree with Lacquer Head: Be sure to admit it was silly of you.
