How many times have you been asked to be part of a wedding party?

Ok with my wedding coming up soon I have been thinking back and come to realize I've been a part of a butt ton of weddings. If I recall correctly I have been a groomsmen 4 times, best man 9, usher 4 times and seeing I am a reverend I have performed 3 services. Most required me to purchase my own attire.

    How about yourself?

I've been a best man once and an usher once. It was good times but so incredibly stressful to plan a bachelor party and to get everyone on the same page. It all worked out in the end and everyone was very drunk and very happy

Unless my own wedding counts, then 0. The last time I attended a wedding was as a child, and that definitely doesn't count as being asked to be part of a wedding party.

I was forced to be a groomsman for my Brother and Sister's weddings. They provided the suits on my sister's and I was 17 during my brothers so my folks bought me one. I don't recall ever being apart of any others.

I didn't party for brother's. I partied with my homies during my sister's cause we were smokin weed lol.

I was in the wedding party once. It was mega expensive, but I justified it somehow, was able to differ a lot of the costs to a credit card, and really enjoyed myself. Planning was a pain since 3 out of 5 bridesmaids were in other parts of the world and in different timezones. All came together quite nicely. The bride was aware of many people's money situations, so she did her best to keep the costs low for us.

I've already been asked to be my sister's maid of honour. No plans have been made for my sister and her boyfriend to tie the knot yet. They have the rest of their lives to do that, really.

Beyond that, I don't have plans to be anyone's bridesmaid anytime soon. I'm sure I would be in the wedding party again if asked. It's fun. ^_^

I was in my cousin's wedding when I was 15, and I recently played and sang during the ceremony of one of my oldest childhood friends. Both were a bit stressful, but it was nice to help them with their celebrations.

One of my closest friends is getting married in the summer and I'm not even invited because her future husband doesn't want me there. She and I are still close and spend a lot of time together, but I am not welcome in their home while he's there. That's a long story. He's pretty rigid and imo, emotionally abusive, and I am concerned for her. But then, I was in her place once upon a time. Can't say shit at the moment without it looking like I'm just salty from my divorce.

    Ahhhhh marriage.

Good luck on your wedding day, Meier. I mean that with all sincerity and well wishes for your relationship lmao.

Not counting siblings weddings, I've been a best man once. Though most of my really good friends aren't married. Nor do I have any idea when they will be getting married. I imagine most of them will move away with 10 years pursuing careers and what not

seeing as im still only young (25) , and as are my friends, I dont find it wierd since none of my friends have been married. Although now a few of my closer friends are in committed relationships, I think I MIGHT be contender for best man soon, which concerns me slightly.

What kind of responsbilities comes with the role of best man? I really dont want to be responsible for organising titty parties (shocking, i know) but I dont want to let my friends down.

Also if there is a reception the best man generally does a toast and speech to the bride and groom.

A bachelor party can also be an awesome camping trip, bar crawl, brewery tour (if you have a few local breweries), float trip, you could rent a cabin somewhere. Doesn't have to be at a strip club, you just have to plan a good time for the boys.

I didn't even know my brother got married until after the pictures popped up on Facebook, let alone been part of the ceremony.

But titties make everything at least twice as good

When I was best man, we went down to Atlantic City, played some blackjack, drank our faces off, ate a nice dinner, drank more, did some stuff, drank more, threw a beer across a now defunct casinos hallway, and was asked to leave the casino floor because we were too drunk to coherently play cards. The next night was even more ridiculous.

    Never.

I think I helped out with my sister's bff's wedding a ton of years ago.

My bff is getting remarried around NYE (her 1st husband fell off a cliff in the mtns and died like 3 yrs ago, & she's moved on and junk), but she hasn't asked me to be in it. She has 5 sisters as it is and I'm not too sure I'll be able to commit to being there cuz distance and other shit going on.

just the once, no one i am *really* close too has got married really, its been family or my husbands friends, but I am being a bridesmaid for one of my closest friends this year and i am well excited. we are off to magaluf in a couple of weeks for a messy hen week. i have dyed my hair blue for it. the hen is going to pitch a fit, cant wait to see her face. I am super honoured to be her bm though, and i will dye my hair back 'normal' for the big day lol

Every time I see the letters b and m paired my mind goes straight to bowl movement. It makes that sentence so much funnier.

My bachelor party was last weekend. Seeing I am still in recovery from my surgery the guys decided to keep it simple. Beer, shots, BBQ and good friends. It was a lot of fun and nothing drastic happened. Now Pams bachelorette party was off the chain with booze, stripper, penis straws and dancing. Hahahah.

Hah! I think I remember ur photos they were FF(IX?) themed.

It's 2016. Most women -at least the ones I kno n myself incl -dnt wanna participate in that 'tradition' much less catch the bouquet with a 10ft pole n seem happy bout it lmao. Superstitious or not.

My cake was final fantasy ix, the flowers were made from spare strategy guides from X-2 and XII we had knocking about lol

i don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the bride has thrown the bouquet come to think of it... I don't think I'd like to be on the receiving end of a thrown bouquet, tbh xD

I've experienced 3 bt have never been on the receiving end (nor do I EVER want to) and thats only out of politeness. I think its fine n cute if you're a willing participant bt jc do not force the rest of us lmao. Nothing worse than being pushed out on the floor to catch the bouquet by “well meaning” friends lol.

Oh god, haha. Someone recently tried to get me to go out for a bouquet toss like.... one month after my divorce was finalized. Are you ****in serious? Yes, I'm technically single, but what fresh hell is that? Standing around with all the other "single" girls after the flaming ****ery that was divorcing an emotionally abusive, alcoholic husband? YEAH I'm totally hyped to jump back into that crap shoot.

I said no and remained seated, they gave me a pitiful look, and I smiled back until they walked away.

Haha at least u stood ur ground. I put on a fake smile n grit my teeth as I walk up thn glance back at my 'friends' with a look that they very well know as "F**K U" lol. Anyway the food, dancing, (usually good) music n cute guys in suits make up for that moment of torture.

Haha! I never liked it, but I used to go do it anyway.

Part of my struggle in deciding to file for divorce was the fact that people I barely knew would be judging me for it. Thirteen months of marriage must look so ridiculous to an outsider. So by the time I got on with it, I didn't give a good goddamn what anyone thought, so nah, I'm gonna stay seated.

Lol speaking of food, though, I played for a friend's wedding ceremony recently and the only thing I could eat was a mother****in roll. It was fun, at least. And the father of the groom paid me, once he found out I was driving two hours and learning a new song out of the goodness of my heart. So that was cool.

One of my friends is going thru a divorce - lets jus say he couldnt keep it in his pants - n I think she's feeling the same way u did. She's distant whenever we get together which is completely understandable bt its hard sometimes trying to not seem like we're taking pity on her. I try not to overthink it n just hug her n make her laugh cause Im funny as shit.

The food thing at weddings can be tricky at times. Thankfully most of the weddings Ive attended the couple have let me kno well in advance that I'll have a customized menu which is really gracious of them bt 8 times out of 10 I havent been able to eat the wedding cake - they're jus so pretty. I could have bt dnt really want to lol. I jus wait till I get home, make sure I eat beforehand n always have my own snacks eg raspberry licorice on hand in case I collapse lol.

One of my best friends wives doesn't like me because of my political leanings and opinions on social matters. Our other friend got a last minute invite, his gf of 3 years wasn't invited, and he, my gf and I got put at the smallest table, in the corner by the kitchen. I had fishing line in my salmon. The three of us were pretty offended by the seating, since we sat with her sisters friends. Wtf

Not to mention it was black tie, the day after Thanksgiving. It was not a fun time. Whiskey helped.

She's a super liberal, cat loving vegan who thinks smocks are acceptable for everyday wear. Plus she's keeping her name.

My gf and I already decided there will be no vegan options at our wedding. Meat tornadoes for all, and the invite will be to mr. and mrs. his last name.
