My parents were both military, so moving is second nature to me. The key to moving is to go through your belongings regularly and get rid of anything you haven't used in a while. The problem usually is that people are too sentimental when it comes to belongings or their house itself. You get them to go through stuff that has been boxed up for 10 years and they start telling stories about each and every trinket that they totally forgot about until just now. People "miss" their old homes when they move, as if the object was somehow a member of the family.
In the military you do not have that luxury. Keep what you absolutely need and dump(Salvation Army,etc) the rest. Don't get attached to that house because you'll be leaving it soon enough. It's probably harsh to most people, but to us it was a way of life. If anything, you get some AWESOME tax reductions... and becoming a hoarder was practically impossible.![]()
