This has nothing to do with the migratory patterns of the Monarch Butterfly and much more to do with how generous of a lover you are. Do you go down south on your significant other? As for going south for the winter, I have yet to engage in this migration but even though I am a little hesitant of trying new things and going to new places, I think I would give it an honest attempt if asked to take this trip.

Some "airlines" will try to screw you over with the return trip ticket. That's why I suggest getting your returning boarding pass before you even depart. Wouldn't wanna be abandoned.
