    Cool Fun With Siblings

My parents worked really hard to provide us kids with the necessities. So hard indeed, that they must've forgotten entirely about entertainment: This was especially troublesome during the summer, when the adults' tempers flared along with the temperatures.

A new video game? How dare you ask for one! You know your brother will just bite a chunk out of it.
T.V.? It'll rot your brain, besides you know your brother put his foot in the last screen just yesterday. You know the boys aren't old enough to be around such expensive things.

Inevitably, us kids would wander outdoors in search of excitement. One of our favorite amusements was digging a hole, filling it with water and, crouching down by the mud pit, forming rows of mud-balls and hurling them at each other while cackling maniacally and getting as muddy as possible before dinnertime. Sooo much fun

So, what kinda fun stuff do/did you do for fun when you were stuck with your siblings?

I used to love playing in the garden with my brothers. Dad was always working on the vegetables, and he always left a little plot somewhere that was fallow and we could dig up to our hearts' content. One of the games I remember the most is "Smurfs' Village". It was just a quarry-like hole in the garden, with little caves jutting into the side where little Smurf figurines "lived". We also had lot of trucks and dumpers and stuff. Dad still digs them up occasionally.

...... My brother & sister are way older than me - 10 & 12 years.

My brother used to take me for rides on his Yamaha crotch rocket. We'd go up in the mountains and go swimming in the swimming holes up there. We got super muddy one day - head to toe, the bike, yeah. My mom was furious with us. She made us stand outside while she sprayed us off with the water hose. I was in like 1st/2nd Grade.

Otherwise, I was at the pool all day everyday - my sister was a lifeguard and after she started college, she would come home for the Summer, lifeguard, and coach the swim team.

But then when I was older, mine and my brother's main form of entertainment was smoking pot. Yay. Winning.

I have two older brothers who I used to watch play video games a lot as a kid. I probably wouldn't even play any video games if they didn't influence me that way. I don't get along with my eldest brother, never have much, so I don't have many nice stories with him but my middle brother and I were close. We used to go picking conkers and stuff and building dens and shit. We'd watch films together, climb trees, all that shit. Normal stuff really. Though one time he let me put him in a wig and one of my dresses and put makeup on him, I don't remember why but it was funny lmao. We were only little.

My other brother is 12 years younger than I am so I don't really have any stories of us playing, sadly. I always wanted a twin sister. Like, I kept thinking that when I turned a certain age my parents would think I was old enough to reveal to me that I had a long lost twin sister somewhere and we'd meet and become best friends and switch places, etc. Think the Parent Trap. Hasn't happened yet, though.

You oddly sounded like Becky Bloomwood from the Confessions of a Shopaholic book series in that last part. heh

I'm an only child. When my friends weren't around I would play basketball alone in the yard. Sucks.

    Poor S

My siblings are also much older than me. Next youngest is 6 years older, and I was born on her birthday. Always say, "She wanted a cabbage patch doll, but she got ME." Except she also got her cabbage patch doll. Anyway, my siblings and I would play with toys together, especially legos. I'd also watch them play video games, until they got too old for it or something, and then I started playing video games by myself/get my eldest brother to play them with me when he was around. I would always get him to play Bionic Commando so I could watch him beat it, because I couldn't get past like the 6th area, I think. I was also his "assistant" when he was in band in high school. "Assistant!" :3 Also, he influenced me greatly by playing his music for me all the time, took me places and bought me some stuff, and was my hero growing up. My middle brother and I would watch movies together because he loved movies, and I'd borrow from his huge-ass movie collection. I'd also have little rolls in his movies. He and I would also tell our sister that we needed to have a "party," which involved her buying snacks for us and giving us presents, haha (she points back to this to this day.) She would also take me lots of places and buy me stuff, because she was essentially my second mother <3 There's also a half sister in Arizona that we don't see much.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the "trade book," in which we recorded all of our trades, like when we traded toys and stuff. It usually involved really good deals for my middle brother and really crappy deals for my sister, haha. Her husband jokes about it all the time. "We need to record this in the trade book! I want to see it in writing!" Anyhoo...

    Wuv, Yer Mom

EDIT: And I just found out that my half sister's boyfriend has a granddaughter. GRANDDAUGHTER. WUT?!! (She is like 15 years older than me or something, though... maybe more. I forget.)

Asst. That reminds me of when my sister was in High School & on the cheerleading squad... I ended up being their mascot - my mom even sewed me my own little cheerleading uniform to match their's.

Well, even after my bros grew up enough for us to have video games, my parents, still being incredibly focused on their toddlers while practically ignoring their teenage children, would always get movies for that kiddy age group. I'm serious, there was NO swearing in those films! (Ditto with adult scenes) This may seem okay at first glance, but if you've watched the Care Bears Movie 5 times, it kinda gets old - fast. These sort of purchases enraged the hell out of us older kids, but they also provided a unique form of punishment which we devised a competition for:
We would register 4 of us for the event, get together on the couch and the competition would begin. We would play Mario Party (7 being my favorite, but 3 was awesome, too) The two runner-ups would make some form of late-night dessert, while the loser would have to stay seated and watch the latest kiddy film purchase - 3 episodes of the original series Land Of The Lost, for example, while the winner could occasionally cast a triumphant gaze upon the scowling losers.

Urgh. Okay, you're a MOM. They have powers of endurance that others cannot fathom. Let us leave it at that.

In my endless struggle to allay the ever-threatening boredom, I sunk to playing with MONEY. Nothing big, just the change that my parents kept in a Donald Duck Piggy Bank atop a tall shelf. I would select a shiny quarter to represent a king, while a pudgy nickel would play the role as queen (for some reason she was always shouting at everyone to clean the house and make food (quite similar to my own mother...) while the thin dimes were the royal sons who would never go to sleep. Of course then I'd arrange the pennies in battle formations, those were the troops and they were always suffering casualties. One by one, their souls would all go to Donald.
