Also, take into the fact that as a woman gets older, there is a greater risk for the baby to develop a congenital disorder or to miscarry. Not saying that it will always happen, but the risk does get higher. Women are born with all the eggs that they'll ever have during thier lifetime, and the quality of the egg generally goes down after a significant amount of time.

It's a risk for the woman too. If her doctor says it's ok, I guess it is.

Maybe it was an accident though. She might have thought she was in her menopause (which wouldn't be abnormal at 60), believing taking the pill wouldn't be necessary anymore at her age.
