    Documentary?

I could have sworn there was a homework help subforum and not just a thread, but oh well, onto the subject matter.

For a project in my English class, we are making documentaries. My group landed on the topic of Social Networking. We have to have an interview with a professional, but I don't know who could fit that gap. Also, do forums count as social networking? If so, please answer some of these questions for possible film use

Do you think social networking has had a positive or negative impact on society?

What is your view on Anonymous? (Trolling, internet harassment, etc)

What do you think the world would be like sans social networks?

This is all I could think of for right now. If you'd like to make some questions of your own, or if you have anything helpful, please share it.

I will post usernames in credits and cite all of this stuff, screencapture thread, etc, if it's helpful enough. Thanks again

I believe the impact is a double edged sword, keeping in touch has never gotten easier, but lack of privacy (from others) can cause relationship problems (ie differing opinions)

I don't really know, it's scary yes, but so is an alley at midnight in New York City... and that's why I stay away from an alley at midnight.

The economy would be better? We'd spend money on stuff again probably... like mail, long distance phone calls, text messages, and all that other stuff we used to pay to use to keep in touch with people.

    Hope that helps, bro.

    Re: Documentary?

I think forums count. We're all nodes that are connected together in a social place. We've all connected to each other in one way, shape or form; as friends, as more than friends, as enemies, etc.

Do you think social networking has had a positive or negative impact on society?
It depends. It opens the door for many industries by getting word out about their products and services. It also helps people stay in touch with far away relatives and school friends.

A downside is privacy. There's going to be people who meddle with your friends, and manipulate your information. Without the right privacy settings, people can get a lot of information about who you are, and even where you're going out to eat later in the day.

What is your view on Anonymous? (Trolling, internet harassment, etc)
Someone being anonymous doesn't bother me as much as someone who's being anonymous and seeing it as an opportunity to be a complete asshole. I'm friends with a few people online and I don't even know if they're male or female, or where they're from or what their first name is. That doesn't really bother me.

I just think trolls who are anonymous and hide who they are are pretty pathetic, really.

What do you think the world would be like sans social networks?
Advertising would cost more, streets would be filled with posters, there'd be more advert time on TV than programs. Some companies would go bust. You might never keep in contact with old school friends. You wouldn't have an online space to share photographs, etc.

It'd stop people from being so lazy, but it'd make communication difficult.
