I just love Documentaries, I simply cant get enough of them. Just received fairly large collection of Documentaries so I'll have something interesting to watch and when I don't watch them on DVD-s I turn on National Geographic or Discovery World. Love to watch Survivor Man, Ultimate Survivor, Lost Civilizations, UFO and much more.
So do you like to watch documentaries and what kind do you watch?

Yes, I love watching documentaries. I will watch Shark week on Discovery channel, and if there is something interesting on the History channel then I will tune in.
I have an addiction to TLC (The Learning Channel). Sometimes they play documentaries, but it's mostly shows like "What Not to Wear" and home improvement shows that I watch.

I can be drawn into a good documentary from time to time I must admit ^^.
Anything related to Physics and Chemistry (and well lets face it.. that's alot), I'm generally hooked. More to the pure stuff mind..
I absolute love anything connected to mechanics as well. I could watch that until the ay I die.
Nature documentaries I'm not as fond of. I love animals and so when it gets to the death parts I become a real girl and switch it off. I know it's the real world... but maybe I want to remain oblivious to it for a little while longer.

I have spent a lot of time watching documentaries and I find them very interesting. MY wife on the other hand hates them and thinks they are dry and boring so I am left watching reruns of 90210 and reality TV most of the time.
When I have the chance I prefer to watch ones that are based around historical events, places, engineering, and war. My preferred ones to watch are the ones based around the ancient Roman and Greek times; they where truly amazing civilizations.
I found myself addicted to “the History of Sex” series that came on the History channel; it was good and also surprisingly very educational.
I found myself addicted to Survivor man there for a while but after the umpteenth time of seeing him stranded doing the same thing it got a little on the old side. I still watch it every once in a while just to see what kind of new stuff he comes up with to keep the audience entertained.

I'd love to see that series some time. Haven't stumbled upon it yet.
I watch National Geographic a lot and I love anything that has to do with either conspiracies, or history.
I really love World War II documentaries. There's something intriguing about the most significant 5 years in the last century. Just 10 minutes ago (really), I was watching a documentary on The Battle of the Bulges on National Geographic. I found it to be quite interesting, since it was a tough battle and it took place in my little country, during an extremely harsh winter.
Crao Porr Cock8: Getting it while the getting's good
actually i saw a zombie documentary a couple of months ago.
Girl: Do i ever cross ur mind
Boy: No
Girl: Do you like me?
Boy: Not really
Girl: Do you want me?
Boy: No
Girl: Would you cry if I left?
Boy: No
Girl: Would you live for me?
Boy: No
Girl: Would you do anything for me?
Boy: No
Girl: Choose--me or ur life
Boy: my life
The girl runs away in shock and pain and the boy runs after her and says...
The reason you never cross my mind is because you're always on my mind.
The reason why I don't like you is because I love you.
The reason I don't want you is because I need you.
The reason I wouldn't cry if you left is because I would die if you left.
The reason I wouldn't live for you is because I would die for you.
The reason why I'm not willing to do anything for you is because I would do everything for you.
The reason I chose my life is because you ARE my life

I enjoy a good documentary. I'm not particularily fussed about learning new things, I just find them interesting, I'm not all that into the nature stuff, but I'l sit and watch anything life related. It's just fascinating how some people live
I watch a lot of nature documentaries, ones involving reptiles (particularly snakes) or big cats catch my interest particularly. I used to watch a lot of O'Shea's Big Adventure when it was on TV, and Austin Stevens and Steve Irwin were other favorites. I've probably watched all of David Attinburgh's programmes. My favorite David Attinburgh programme was the deep sea episode of Blue Plannet, with the deep sea angler fish, gobbler eel and other weird and wacky deep sea creatures.
I like to watch programmes about indiginous people too, particularly Bruce Parry's Tribe and Ray Mears. Theres something very thereapeutic about watching people living comfortably in the wilderness, and learning about their cultures. Programmes about ancient civilisations are really interesting too.
I also watch scientific documentaries, mainly about Earth and outer space.
I'm barely watching anything else on TV these days.
Just finished "The Bible Unearthed" and it was really good.
Though, I don't like those flashy American documentaries that are just like cheap tabloids.
I mostly watch documentaries about history and other countries.
Yes. I absolutely love to watch documentaries. I find them fascinating. One that I enjoy more then most is Survivor Man. It's such a great documentary. I think it's amazing how he manages to survive in such unforgiving circumstances, and some episodes he come's close to not being able to continue, but he somehow always manages to find a way.
I agree with you he's really amazing and it's always interesting to see some of his survival methods but I love Ultimate Survivor much more, basically because it's more extreme and Bear Grylls doesn't carry that much equipment like Survivor Man do, only knife. It's much more interesting to see how Grylls tries to survive and to use anything that he can from natural resources unlike Survivor Man that always by some chance finds some useful junk like crashed plane (unbelievable but he managed to find something like this), bottles, cans and similar.
Anyway the other day was the first time I saw that Survivor Man had to quit the challenge, I didn't expected that but he was somehow forced to do it.

I watched survivor man once and wasn't convinced. Everything he finds is too conveniant and he seems like hes acting to me. It looks too polished and studio performed to me in some places. I stick to Ray Mears.
That's what bugs me about Survivor Man, he always finds something useful, always. Last time I watched this show he found few huge barrels and some sort of canoe and he makes shelter out of it, WTF. Like you said it's too convenient and that's way I like to watch Bear Grylls much more.

Planet Earth on blu-ray.... It's absolutely breathtaking.... Makes you fall in love again with th place we call home.
Unless its anime or a foreign movie all I will watch is documentaries. I'm not a big T.V fan...
I just watched something about Angkor Wat. It was really interesting. It showed how it was built and a bit about the political situation under Suryavarman II at the time.
i love documentaries. i'm watching prehistoric predators right now. i'm mostly a history man. the documentaries on ancient rome, midevil europe, and egypt really fasinate me.
Bear Grylls doesn't do everything on his own either though. Not sure if you followed it but there was a big thing about it awhile back when viewers finally figured out the show wasn't 'real', that he did receive various forms of aid and some of the situations were created with special effects.
I watch lots of documentaries, have since I was little. Nature, history, people, I'll watch pretty much any kind. Lots and lots of crime-related ones too. I like learning new things and I never know when I'll come across something I can use in my own writing. After further research of course, documentaries often have a slant to them or don't tell the entire story. Just a limitation of the standard documentary format, not a dig on them in any way.
The last documentary I watched was about unexplained mysteries of the moon. Not quite as exciting as it sounded, it was about the standard mythos. Werewolves, spikes in crime and bizarre behavior, etc. I did find the bit about using the moon's phase to predict earthquakes via the theory of 'earth tides' interesting, though. So I did learn something new out of it, if nothing else. The documentary was a bit old though, from the late 90s. /shrug
That said, what's the last documentary you watched? Did you find it interesting and possibly learn anything new?

Even though Bear Gryll's doesn't do things on his own doesnt take away the fact that his show is quiet interesting. I mean yes it would be better if he did it all on his own, but nonetheless it is still good.
I watch documentaries, haven't watched to many lately cause I have't seen any good ones on. I enjoy watching things about nature, or different culture's. I have also been big into different culture, therefore it is nice to be able to watch tv and learn something about someone.
I haven't watched Bear Grylls in ages and this would be the first time I've heard about the show not being "real". To be honest I'm not really surprised, I was rather skeptical towards some scenes and it was quite obvious that some things were done with special effects, even I have noticed that before. Even tho I'm familiar with this he's still more interesting and extreme than SurvivorMan although I have to admit both shows have become tedious to watch.
I've watched tremendous amount of documentaries lately, be it on TV or from my personal collection, it's like I'm spending all of my free time on that. I watch mostly MegaStructures, have few older episodes on DVD-s and also whenever I have chance I watch it on National Geographic. I'm in love with these kind of documentaries and it has nothing to do with me studying civil engineering, I'm just curios to see how do they solve enormous obstacles that appear by building such megstructures.
The last one I've watched is "The Secrets of Einsteins Genius", it's interesting although it's rather disappointing to see that after all these years of preserving the Einsteins brain, or what's left of it they have nothing concrete to say on that mater, just random guesses.

I am a fan, but not of the typical stuff - pollution, the Holocaust, and the like. Serious documentaries tend to bore me these days. I am finding myself being drawn to more specialized documentaries. For instance, Grizzly Man is an examination of the life of a man who went to live with bears and was eaten by them. Also, Up the Yangtze.
Hey! Read my movie blog! http://centralfloridafilmcritic.blogspot.com
I don't watch documentaries often, and when I do, I'm so stupid that I forget nearly everything important that was said, but I do like them. They always have random, trivial facts that I like listening to more than the real, important ones. I can just sit there and happily watch a whole slew of documentaries because they're usually so informative and interesting.
Those random segments of specialists and experts ranting about the subject of the documentary are great parts too! It's so fun watching them explain things and seeing how intense they are about what they know. I get interested in whatever the documentary is about just because I get fired up by how interested these guys are.
Aw man...now I wished I had Discovery Channel or the History Channel. I want to watch one...
I absolutely cannot live with documentaries, they are the best entertainment on television. The history channel, and PBS are my number one sources for docs, & I found Netflix to be quite valuable as well.
Back in the day when I was a pot head, I would blow my mind with space docs, haha!
