Hahaha, I do that, too. xD You know how when there's a car accident in the middle of the road, everyone just has to look to see what's going on? I think it's like that. I often enjoy reading the ones that are closed by Meier or Ally. =P
Whenever I check the "New Posts" and I see a thread that was colsed, I have to check why... Do any of you do that?

Meh, what am I talking about. I usually check out why threads are closed myself. Might even take a second look if I find it funny enough.

It's usually easy to work out why threads were closed, heh.
I also like to know why people get banned...

The less chance we have of being killed." ~ William Topaz McGonagall (1830-1902)
You can usually figure out why a thread was closed by the title. If not, that's when I might look.
I'm a fan of this, also when people have ridiculous amounts of negative rep, like someone's profile I stumbled across before, I think it was "Banned testicle" or something lol
EDIT: you know you're ALL going to go look for that account now

I didn't know people used the New Post option. I just see which board had a new post and I look there.

I check New Posts all the time. It's much faster to see what was said that day than just going from board to board.
I am pretty nosy, so when I see a lock a thread, I check it out to see what was going on. Sometimes, you can read up on some good forum drama that way.

Oh, all the time. Whenever I see a closed thread even when looking for threads, I HAVE to check it out, see why it got closed. 90% of the time, it was because 2-3 people have taken over the thread and gone completely off topic with it, sad thing.
However, there is sometimes when it violates TFF rules, and mods take a while before they decide to close it, as if they had the most epic argument in the world that lasted a week, until they came to a single conclusion. (I can only imagine what the mods think at times. )
Also, I've noticed at least two occasions where douches come onto sell crap, which got closed and banned almost immediately. Serves 'em right, but where are they coming from? o_O
I know I'll see 100s more closed threads, and different reasons why. I'll never forget the "Count to 100 before a Mod posts" thread... Oh... my... god... O_o
I'm going through a bit of a The World Ends With You phase right now.Click THERE:
Khorde aka Banned Testicle actually wanted neg rep for some reason. Its not like he was a douche or something, actually he was one of the cooler guys from the BoD.
Most of the time threads get closed because I make awesome ones and then bad kids that belong in the toddler sandbox known as the WG/H forums decide to come in and overstep their boundries. They are what Charlie Murphy would call Habitual Linesteppers. Then one of the mods has to pull a Rick James and slap them across the face until they get the picture.

I have checked a few to see why they are closed. I guess it just depends on what the thread was about. If it is something I might have been interested in I check, but if it is something stupid I say oh well f*ck better off closed anyway..
I hate it when I miss a closed thread. Like when someone is being a total douche and it'd be awesome to tell them where to go. Although I've noticed a few threads that were closed with no explanation given, then re-opened later on... again with no explanation given.
Curious: Do explanations have to be given when a thread gets closed?
Also there isn't a way of knowing WHO closed the thread, so you can't PM and say "Hey, what's up?" with it either. I always figured that PMs were the way to go, rather than posting a "Hey, why did this thread get closed down?" topic.
I am speaking on my part not the entire staffs.
When it is just blatently obvious as to why a thread is getting closed there is no reason for explination. If it is a touchy subject I will try to throw in some words as to why something gets closed.
I know when I accessed the site using my cell phone it would close threads with out warning and I would get emails asking why I closed them. I would just hop back on TFF when I could at the house and reopen them and send a VM / PM to the owner of that thread letting them know it as reopened.
That is part of the reason I quite accessing the site using my mobile heh.

I've only had two of my threads closed on any messageboard, one of which happened today on this very board. The other was closed because two other members started arguing about stupid shit. I try to make all my threads have something to do with something relevant.
I'll only check a closed thread if the title doesn't already explain why it happened, or if there are enough posts in it to make it seem like something went down. Who doesn't like reading an argument? Especially the trivial or petty ones. Most of the time, they're funny, and those are usually the ones that get threads closed too. =D
I don't really see a reason to close a post, ever. If people are willing to comment on it, it's good to go. Threads can go from awesome to bleh and back to awesome. This never happens here. Once threads go bleh they get closed immediately, so we never see that second burst of wind in a thread which can create some awesome experiences.
What is the point, financially? Does Fuzz lose money from having a post closed? No. In fact, I think he might make money from leaving it open. More traffic = more money. And space isn't like having a garage. It doesn't fill up, it's based on servers. Are twenty extra posts in one thread going to make someone go bankrupt? No. What it is going to do, though, is generate more traffic, which means more people viewing ads, and more clicking on them, and more cents per whatever.
This might be related, but I never ignore or block anyone on AIM or MSN or online games I play. Why? Because it makes me laugh to see what kind of stuff they have to say. If they start spamming stuff, and it's all the same gibberish and we get no where, that's different.
closed threads are like car crashes... you cannot help but watch the whole thing unfold with a slight taste of morbid enjoyment on your lips.
