Christmas time: What are you looking forward to?

I've always loved Christmas, just the holiday feel cheers me up. Now that I'm not a little kid anymore, I always want the same things: money, clothes, and usually a few games or systems. Actually, I like Christmas more now I think....probably because when I was a kid Santa always failed, even when I went out of my way to see him at the mall... greedy bastard. This year I want the usual, money and clothes. I'm also hoping to get a Keyboard (musical) since we don't have the Piano anymore, and a PSP seeing that everyone has one except me -_- As for games I really want Chrono Cross again, I know it's old but we accidently sold it with our old Dreamcast games and for some reason I really want to play it again.

For me the "Holiday feel" for me is what I look forward to, after going through like two summers straight it's always nice to have the cool weather come in. I just love everything that comes with Christmas. Too bad it doesn't snow here Also getting new clothes doesn't hurt I like shopping so I think this Year me and my brother are getting money and we're going shopping a week or so before Christmas for the things we want.

We don't have any close relatives that live anywhere near us so It'll just be me, my brother, my dad and friends time in between.

What do you look forward to during the holidays? anything special you want? haha also if you have kids do you are you taking them to see Santa? I hope no one actually had the parent that dressed up as him and tried to come down the chimney.

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

I hate commercialised Christmas. I don't like getting presents, unless they're really meaningful and not bought just because they're on special. Or they're practical, like the money my dad will be giving me to put toward next year's textbooks.

I'm just looking forward to Christmas dinner with my immediate family (parents and brothers only), and Christmas day Mass, singing Silent Night, which is my all-time-favourite church hymn.

Same. The Christmas Eve service with lit candles and dim lights, everyone singing Silent Night.... it's magic. A few years ago, my uncle died on Christmas Eve, so there's been a certain poignancy about it ever since. But I still look forward to it and to remembering him.

I enjoy buying a couple gifts for each family member. I kind of like being able to smile and think, "I know you pretty well, eh?" This year, when asked what I wanted, I said a cast iron teapot. I couldn't think of anything else. And college is a pretty nice year-round present, so hey.... I'm not too worried about it. I like having something to open along with everyone else, but it's awkward if you've got the most presents in the room. Buh.

What I really really look forward to is the Christmas party that my extended music family has every year. It's a potluck situation and I see all these people I really care about and who helped raise me, and then we play music together. Can't wait.
    Curious?

I like getting the house all decorated and seeing how it makes my mom and little brother happy. Christmas is thier favorite holiday, and we go all out. Yeah, it's a pain to drag all that stuff out and get it set up, but it's nice to see that it makes them happy.

Buying presents for my family and friends is hard work for me, because I never know what to get, so I go the lazy route (usually) and just give money. That way they can just go get whatever they want. As for recieving gifts, I've gotten to the point that if I want something I go get it myself, and I tell my family every year since I've been working that I don't really want/need anything.

I like that my work changes the music to Christmas themed songs. We play country songs most of the year, and in December it gets changed (YAY!!!). I don't have anything against country, but it's not really my type of music. I like the Little Drummer Boy, Silver Bells, Carol of the Bells, Winter Wonderland, and O Holy Night. Those are my favorite!

OH!! One more thing: A bunch of coworkers are going to have a Christmas party, and I'm going to go. I think it will be fun to hang out with my work buddies in a non work-related setting. I think we may just wind up talking about work anyway.

    I'm looking forward to getting some sleep. These late nights which I love oh so much talking to Vicky and Joey are starting to take a toll. With the holiday coming up, I can stay up later (or earlier... 3/4am anyone?) and get out of bed when I want, which means more time with my friends and loved ones online. Unless the mother isn't working - she gets pissy if I sleep in. ^^;;

I'm also looking forward to catching up with work/the lack of work that needs to be done. You must think I'm mad for wanting to do the work in my break... but it's got to be done, and it sure beats these last minute assignments miracles I've been known to pull off the night before it's due. =X

As for family related stuff? We don't go and see our family any more really. My nan does, usually going to Australia for a couple of months to spend time with the relatives over there, but this year she is staying home. It's not a bad thing, but sometimes it's nice having an empty house. My uncle might take a drive down here for a day with presents to see us - at least I hope he does. It's not Christmas without seeing him (he looks like Santa) and getting a big hug from him. So we're all staying home...

    As for presents? I don't really know what I want (except FFII and maybe Uncharted), and no one else seems to know what they want either. So... I think at the moment, my Christmas list for everyone else is either a fantasy novel or the Terminator Salvation DVD for my best friend, a box of chocolates for my class mates to share, and a rope toy for my dog. xD;;

I'm not looking forward to the feeling after eating the Christmas dinner. We overdo it every year. If we had a bigger flat, I'm sure we'd invite people over for some. You can't beat the mothers cooking though. ^^

At my families house on Christmas we give out tons of gifts, but it is more about our family come in from different parts of the country. Christmas eve we will all sit around the table and eat dinner, we will sing some song's, then we go caroling. My family has always been real big on caroling, we go every year. It is usually about 20 or 30 of us walking down the streets to people houses.

Then Christmas day we wake up real early, and open present's. Afte this my mom usually fixes something small for the kid's to eat. Later that day my Uncle and Aunt usually bring over dinner that they fixed. We all sit around the table once again and eat and sing.

To me Christmas is more about spending time with family, gifts are fun and you are always happy when you get them, but family is forever. God I love christmas...

Sitting here waiting for Rocky, and Che to notice me!!

I'm looking forward to the days off from work and my HDTV.
Spending more time with my Gemma, as always. <3

I hope I'll also get some work done (in the writing aspect of course).

I'm not looking forward to the family gathering, though. There's not even really any real present gathering and stuff anymore. It's just a gift exchange thing that I'm really bored with. If it was up to me I wouldn't participate.

I remember when I was younger, I got presents sometimes, but now I don't get anything anymore. Then again I'm an adult and have a job. I guess they expect me to get presents for them? I'm not sure. I don't even know what anyone likes because I don't talk to anyone. So I don't really care.

I'm kind of beyond the present mentality. If I want something, I'll buy it myself, ya know? Anyways, I'm looking forward to being able to spend some QT with my family, as well as my parents and extended family.

Oh, and the food. Hells yes!!!!

I'm looking forward to having about a month off from school, a bunch of time to hang out and catch up with old friends, the merry atmosphere of December, the traditional unwrapping of presents with my aunts, uncles and grandparents, and actually being in my own home during the whole thing!!!

oh, and I can't wait for these, just ordered them in time for Christmas:

I'm looking forward to just being with my family. My siblings didn't come over for Thanksgiving, so hopefully Christmas will make up for that. We're going to Nevada to stay at my sister's new house she just moved into. She'll be decorating it and whatnot.. it's gonna be cozy. I might be staying over there for awhile.. a couple weeks at most.

I also just ordered something from the internet and will be getting it in three day

I will be looking forwards to spending the holidays with my family. As most people already know this will be Aadens first Christmas and even though he won't remember it I want to make it a special one for him.

As for presents I have never been one to want them, not sure why though. I do on the other hand love giving them out. Given the current financial situations I think I am going to have to really limit down what all we give this year at Christmas time. We have already got our normal pictures of Breryen on order and we got Aadens new born pictures in the mail today. We have made it a tradition with Breyen to give all family members (the direct family members) pictures of our kiddos; obviously this tradition will continue with Aaden also.

Other then that I have told my family not to expect much from us because we can't afford to do much more. I jokingly tell them that bringing Aaden into the family this year "is our gift to all".

We have already got all of Breyens shoping done, the wife went out, with her mom and sister, on black Friday (yes only 10 days after having a C-section) and got his shoping covered. He is getting some pretty sweet toys including a remote controled 2010 Ford Mustage that is almost as tall as he is heh; not a bad snag for 20 bucks (origionally $80).

As for Christmas music, I can tolerate it for a few hours but honestly I am sick of it unless it is something new like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I got burned out on all other Christmas music while I was working at resturaunts and I am finally getting to where they don't drive me nuts.

Like I said at the begining of this rant it is about the family to me. It is what gets me in the festive mood and ready for the holiday; specially my mother.

I am looking foreward to spending time with my family. I go away in April so this will be my last Christmas with my family. Well, unless Martin and I go back home to visit during Christmas. It is my Auntie's turn to do Christmas this year. Which is a little annoying as I always prefer it at my house. There's a nicer crowd, nicer food, a pool and everything. Trust me, you really need a pool when it is 45+ degrees. It should be ohkay though.

I'm not getting anything exciting gift wise. I've worked for quite awhile now so if I want something I just go out and get it. That said.. I am using my Christmas money on more suitable clothes for England. If I have anything left over (Which I won't because clothes shopping is expensive) than I might put it towards something else England related.

What else am I looking foreward to.. Oh! My mum's potato salad. Yum!I hate potato salad but my mum's potato salad is one of my favourite foods in the world. I am definately taking the recipe with me. Can I also say I am excited about Christmas next year? It will be my first Christmas in Winter. That sounds so odd!

"Holidays are coming, holidays are coming... Always coca-colaaaaaaaa"

That on its own made me excited. Stupid advert was a month too early.

Anyway. The thinks I look forward to are seeing the family that live far away like my grandparents. When they get here I'll want them to go home but I miss them when they aren't around. I'm also really looking forward to boxing day. This year we aren't going to church, we are going to Chill Factor (A ski slope for those not from Manchester, UK). I don't like church on boxing day, It's really boring so doing something fun with my family will be really nice. Especially with all the time away from them I've had.

Giving my mum her presents is always a BIG highlight for me. Sometimes she tears up and it makes me really happy that I've made her happy.

Oh... And the food. That's always good. Pigs in blankets... NOM! NOM! NOM! =]

I'm glad christmas is here because it means I have work. I'm on at Wal-mart stocking produce in a seasonal/temporary position. So I'm finally making some moneys and stuffs to start getting somewhere in my life.

I'm kinda looking forward to getting presents this year, because this'll be the first year since....early middle school where I wasn't just given a small sum of cash and told to buy whatever to stick under the tree. I'm curious to see how well my dad and stepmom do. I know what my sister is getting, and I'm positive I'll be using her gift a lot too.

Also, checking the album "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics". It's a south park christmas album, and about the only christmas music I really like, aside from TSO.

I guess I'm really looking forward to being out of school for a while and just playing a crapload of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Also, the Christmas/Holiday decorations on houses are really nice to look at, if your heater is on in the car.

I ****ing hate winter, because when you first get in the car you have to warm it up in order for your heater to work. **** this time of year. Earth needs to learn how to rotate the sun better according to where I live.

    Food.

That is the reason I love Christmas. I have a lot of fond childhood memories, but most aren't about presents. They're about sights, sounds, smells and tastes connected with Christmas food, Christmas trees, decorations and Christmas Songs. I'll be honest, I love presents. But, here's the thing. I love wrapped presents and seeing them under a tree. I don't care so much about whats in them, or ever really getting to open them or owning them. I think they just complete the picture.

I do love my family, whatever I might say against them. Getting hugs and making food for them, is really quite wonderful.

But yea, mostly just the food. She-crab soup. Clam-stuffed mushroom caps. Dijon mustard-crust Prime Rib. French Onion Soup with Gruyere cheese. Desserts of every kind. Homemade breads. Red Wine fruit sauce. Spargel in Weisser Sosse. Carrot Cake. Rhubarb Pie. Dom Champagne. Bourbon Balls. Fudges. Peanut Brittle. Fresh-cut Pineapple. Coconuts. Hot Teas and Hot Chocolates. Coffees. Brandy, Cigars and Clove Cigarettes.

At heart, and deep down past all the Taoist sentiment... I'm really just a hobbit of an Epicurean.

What am I looking forward to? Surely not for the presents, first of all presents don't fit in our Christmas tradition, when I think about it presents were never a part of the Christmas here where I live.

Every year I spend Christmas time with my family, relatives and friends which is the best part of Christmas if you ask me. I get to see some of my friends and relatives that live far away, and I haven't seen some of them for a long time so it's nice to reunite at least once a year. Secondly the food, ah yes the food, we are well know for exaggerating when it comes to the food, I mean 10-15 kinds of pastries, 30 kg. of lamb meat (lamb is more common here than ham and turkey), few kinds of traditional meals and various kinds of salads, all that just for three days.

Also the weather is always nice, never cold so I usually have a great time when I'm outside.

Being exempted from taking all my semester exams because of the good grades. Getting out for break so I can be lazy, play video games, draw, and sleep. I look forward to being able to be with my friends and family.

I have a Christmas dinner and a Secret Santa with my journalism mates this coming Thursday. On the 20th of December, I leave for California to be with my relatives. It's gonna be awesome!

Presents? Uhh... Games, clothing, money, and things I may need are fine by me.

I hate the Winter now. The Winter season is the first time I have ever passed out from exhaustion, dehydration, and lack of sleep in school.

Also.. my nipps get pretty hard this time of the year. Ouch..

Personally, I'm looking forward to getting it all over with and hoping my manager got my request for time off during New Year that I applied for way back in August. I am going to Disneyland, Paris for the New Year. There was supposed to be a whole bunch of us from work going but they pulled out, so it's just me and Paul, my other half.

I have already put the tree up, which I bought, decs and all, for about £16 (I also had some knitted snowmen and Santa baubles my mum made for me a couple of Christmases ago ofr the benefit of me and my student mates), and I have been to our local Christmas market for the Christmas fayre, which includes sugared almonds, warm cinnamon flavoured nuts, pancakes, hog roast buns and cocoa with a drop of Baileys in it! Damn, it's expensive. And then there was the work's Christmas party, which was so much fun, but I got off my head drunk! So much so I actually smoked a cigarette! (I have never smoked for real, and only do it when I am really drunk) Sang into a beer bottle, and when I left the club turned the wrong way to go to the taxi rank.

So, the best part of Christmas is done. Though I do have my parents coming up to visit next weekend with Christmas presents.

I'm kind of at a point where I don't really look forward to Christmas much anymore. Presents are pretty much whatever to me and I don't really get any special time off or anything so...eh. Depending on what my mom's plans are I may even volunteer to work on Christmas day. Overtime + paid vacation. We'll see though.

Sadly, much of the family has become self-absorbed over the past couple of years so they probably won't come and even if they did it would be fairly boring. "All eyes on me and my wonderful spoiled brat of a toddler!" type stuff, meh.

If nothing else I'll probably humor them for an hour or so then come back to my side of the house and read or watch movies or something if I'm not working.

Just the food. Christmas gets on my nerves, all the fuss and how early all the ads and songs start just kill the enjoyment for me. Well, I like the DAY but nothing else. I'm also looking forward to it being over

I tend to go to my mums over Xmas for a few days, and although I like it, Im SO ready to go home after being marooned there for days, I DO like monging out feeling fat and watching all the films and stuff though, and she's got so much food ordered, there's no way we will eat it all, Im having to diet in preparation (she says after scoffing KFC, pizza, garlic bread and pic n mix yesterday... )

So yeah, it's mostly just the food, Ive not even asked for anything, I dont really care, so when people are insisting, Im just asking for shit I need (Kitchen scales and a mirror lol xD And my mums bought me wallpaper and paid for me to redecorate. Im officially old and boring )

Seeing the family, spending time together, eating. My aunt usually gets me one of those christmas chocolate gifts which is enough chocolate for two weeks. Maybe doing some sport now in advance might be a good idea.

I'm pretty excited about Christmas. I don't even really care so much about the gifts and all of that, but I love spending time with my family and friends, and just enjoying the season.

We usually go to Church for the Christmas eve pageant that the kids from my old grade school put on. We've been doing it since we we little. After that, we have a huge Italian dinner, and then just chill. My bro and I usually wind up wrapping the presents my dad gets my mom, cause he procrastinates worse than anyone I know. On Christmas day, we just kinda wake up whenever, and do the whole presents thing, then head to my grandmas house in the afternoon, have our big ole dinner with the rest of the fam. The rest of the night is just relaxing and either watching tv or playing games.

    Good times.

Oh and I still can't tolerate Christmas music, not for at least another week.
