Career Goals!!

Ah indeed i decided i would like to get to know my TFF community's career goals long term.

Myself in 2 years i plan on studying Philosophy at Staffordshire Uni and if all goes well and i pass, then i could get a grant of some kind either from my council or the university where i want to take the course (as i understand it i'm not sure of the process though) then i could take a masters course in which i get a Phd, Doctor Mark Roberts, in my opinion it sounds pretty cool. Then i would probably go on to be a Philosophy teacher/professor or make a living from writing boring books, or commenting harshly on various other peoples arguments (if i made my own i'd be terrified of other peoples harsh comments.)

In the more short term i am considering studying Physics at AS Level.

To give some advice, Rhaps: keep your university options WIDE open. I thought I knew what I wanted to be while at high school. Well, you change. I've changed my degree and or majors more times than I can recall.

I'm also not sure if I even want to do post-graduate study anymore, despite having the GPA to do so.

Myself, my most likely option right now is to work in geographic information systems (GIS). For the private sector, providing location-based information as a consultant. Or I could work in the public sector. The skills are transferable. The Ministry of Social Development needs to know where beneficiaries live do it knows how best to structure assistance (such as assigning appropriate case managers).

I'm applying for a paid summer internship with the Department of Conservation; just have to make my CV in the next week or so. The guy I spoke to was really keen on me, and I also spoke to a whole lot of businesses at a recent careers expo. They send me word of vacancies.

My career goal is simple; don't ever settle for a career. I plan on being a scoundrel and a thief, stealing people's hard earned money and valuables for my own personal gain. However, every good criminal needs a good cover.

My cover is simple. In a couple of years, I will have gotten my associate's degree in the environmental portion of applied science. That leaves the option to have a few numerous job choices. I could work for large companies like Waste Management or DuPont, or I could join a small, privately owned company that allows for a more flexible schedule. The latter would be preferable. I reckon this portion of my "career plan" would take about five years or so. Perhaps a little bit more.

My next step is to plan my criminal activity in great detail. My first major scheme would be to steal the Hope Diamond from the Smithsonian. For about a year now, the idea of getting my hands on the Hope Diamond has been stuck in my head, and I'm not going to be able to get the idea out of my head until I'm holding that diamond in my palm. I'll have to scope out the Smithsonian, learn the building, perhaps get a job as a night watchman to get to know the place. But after that's done, I simply take the jewel, replace it with an exact replica made out of something less valuable, such as glass, and just slip away unnoticed.

Essentially my plan is to lie, cheat, and steal my way to becoming rich very quickly, attracting as little attention to myself as I can.

Well where to begin. I have finished 3 years of undergrad already so my first priority is to do well with the last year. I plan to attend Medical School right after so I have the MCATs scheduled for late July. After the long time I spend in Med School, I plan on working in a hospital for at least a few years before attempting to open a private practice. The only thing I haven't completely decided yet is a field. I went to a Health Sciences Academy for High School and took a lot of pre-med courses in college, so I have a good deal of experience with a number of fields. The ones that have really stuck out to me so far are Endocrinology and Surgery. I've got some experience with surgeries and I've never really had any issue with being squeamish or anything like that. I feel like if I am talented enough to do the surgery and can deal with it, I should go that route. The endocrine really sticks out because I'm diabetic and I would be dealing a lot with other diabetics. I felt like it would be a lot easier to listen to a doctor as a kid about doing what you're supposed to if the doctor telling you had to go through it too.

Anyone here have any sort of Med School knowledge? I'm during research right now into where I'd like to apply, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would look into them right away.

I like threads like this. They take the faceless posters you see every day and start to build a personality outside the point of the forum in general.

At my current rate I am going to graduate with a bachelor of commerce international with german. A potent combination for getting a job.

But what I really want to do is after I get my degree is do a course which alllows me to teach english abroad. And f I could make a career, for a few years at least, of teaching english in china\japan\south korea, though preferably Osaka, Japan, I would be a very happy man. And after that, I dont really know.

I have a friend in Seoul doing that right now, Smurphy. I don't think it pays well, bit he says you don't even need to be good at teaching (he has a teaching qualification), as the kids give you undivided attention without inducement.

I forgot to say that I'm in my third of four years, studying a bachelor of science in Geography, with Public Policy as a 'non-science major', with a minor in statistics. This is different from a bachelor of laws and a BSc in geology as I initially enrolled.

I finish in three more half-year trimesters.

I have heard that the money is only adequate at best, but its something I would like to do to accomplish several things, like experiencing a completely different culture(I am living in Germany at the moment but apart from the language and food, and a few minor things, its really not that different from Ireland) as well as feeling like I am contributing to the education and growth of children, which I hope would be a rewarding experience. As long as I am making enough to live on and travel a little bit I would be happy to do it.

But I admit that more than likely I would only be able to it for a few years at most and at that point then I would make use of my degree. A well paying but tedious and depressing job. It would be nice to have a job I enjoy and that pays well but given the current global economic outlook, I would have to be a very lucky man.

I got a job in a large video game retail outlet last month, and I'm enjoying that so far. I want to do it for a while, maybe a few years if I can. I doubt it'll ever happen, but maybe one day I'll go up to a managers level, which would be nice. It's necessary experience for one of my dreams, which is owning my own bar and gamers lounge. It's a concept I'm still working on, and I don't see it happening soon, but yeah... it's what I want at some point in my life.

I'm also still doing a little studying of my own at home. Still working on my C#. I'd quite like to do some freelance application/game development one day. I might enrol in a university too... still an idea I'm having trouble figuring out. After I was screwed over in September, I'm wondering if getting an education in this country is something I should go for and trust at the same time.

I hope that, within 3 more years, I will have a bachelor's degree in computer science with a potential minor in graphic design. I've heard there is a good market out there for people with the necessary skills in problem solving, so I feel confident about my chances of getting job when I'm done. I hope to one day own/start my own company of software design, but that's only a far-off project right now.

I also hope to earn a PhD in some field, either mathematics or whatever happens to apply to computer science.

I'm working on my doctorates, or supposed to be. *shrugs* I only have a year or so left to come up with a topic for my dissertation. *yawns*

As to what I'm gonna do with it or where I'm going to go with it. I have to admit, that I did get into the program with a plan. But anymore, I just don't feel like plans are my style.

I could write a few books with the research I've been messing with lately. But then, that's a lot of work and idk, not very motivated atm. What I really want to do is find a place with a coast and a maritime climate and continue researching things that interest me.

I completely neglected to say that my degree was in Horticulture, I'm too tired. My degree is in Horticulture. I originally wanted dabble in Genetic mods and engineer a wonder plant or top seller and then retire early. But that is a feeble plan. So...idk. Guess the cool part is getting the degree and then finding out.

I am currently A+certified, and am going for my Bachelor's in Information Technology(CISCO BABY). Not really sure what I wanna do with my degree's, and certifications, but it'll be something good. Right now I am steadily making my way up the McDonald's ladder. I'll be attending Hamburger University soon everyone. Who knows maybe if I get my degree's I can get a sweet ass corporate job.

I find drug dealing pays quite well, start off as a runner and eventually work your way up til you have your own runners doing the running for you while you snort your earnings away with 50 pound notes

On the surface, I'm one of lifes floater alonger...ers.... never been career driven, I'm happy enough as long as I'm earning and leaving my job there at the end of the day. I'm not really decisive enough to pick I want to do, study for it andstick at it. I'm fickle. Changemy mind too much

I wouldn't mind a job in demolition though....
