10 Things You (Maybe) Don't Know

I'm addicted to reading US Magazine and that "25 Things You Don't Know About Me", while sometimes interesting, people put some really stupid shit at the same time. I think it's 'cuz they have to come up with too many things. Anywho. What're some things people don't know about you?

1.) I learned how to swim when I was 2 & still in diapers.

2.) I was the youngest kid on my hometown's swim team - I started at age 3.

3.) I technically know how to drive a big truck.

4.) I speak Intermediate -Mexican- Spanish

5.) I don't have a passport (I need to get one)

6.) I've never been down -into- Mexico, but I've been to the U.S./Mexico Border (Nogales).

7.) I used to be spoiled - my parents bought me a brand new Yamaha WaveRunner when I was 12. I made my dad nervous with my crazy jet ski driving/skills

8.) I've only been caught with pot 2x in my life - by my sister in high school (later found out she was tokin' it up too lol) & by Francisco - got my stash back both times.

9.) I've lived in 3 different states (Texas, Arizona, Tennessee), but have "moved" around 20 times since I was 11 or 12.

10.) I was spelling bee champ & got honor roll all year in 4th grade - even though my teacher tried to fail me for missing too much school (My dad would let me skip with him when he was home from the truck & we'd go shopping & have lunch).

1. My favorite game is not a Final Fantasy title. It's not even an RPG.
2. I am extraordinarily addicted to the Monster Hunter series, and love most games which emulate it.
3. I love love love puzzle games, but don't have the reflexes for the quick ones (see: high level Tetris, Dr Mario, etc)
4. I typically only drink socially, but I have three flasks of varying sizes, all for quick shots of tequila.
5. Green. But DEFINITELY only socially. I've never purchased anything illicit.

1. My first game/system was a SNES with Super Mario World, I got it when i was in preschool and I taught myself how to read from playing that game :3. Teachers were hella impressed.

2. I like to fly kites and lift spirits but only in a social manner.

3. I've been searching for a full time job for almost 1 year now but its hard to find in this economy. Luckily I've had a steady part time job with several other temporary positions and fellowships taht I've taken part of.

4. Was a big fan of the sciences but college really made me lose my passion over learning. After my first year, i changed majors, switched colleges and took a general and more open ended major because i realized what i wanted to do wasn't feasible.

5. Big fan of jrpgs and mobas videogames

6. I'm pretty much a shut-in these days (live in small town, little to do, am a minority in my town, self-employed)

7. My most recent fellowship had me teaching physicians and surgeons on how to use their hospital computer system and how to be most efficient at electronically using their orders, progress notes, etc.

8. As much as I hate to say it, the new daft punk album really sucks

10. I've had the effect strangely similar to the movie "Good Luck Chuck" where after a breakup with a girlfriend, the next person she dates is usually the one they get engaged and married to. This has happened to me 3 times now, almost enough to be more than a strange coincidence...

This is difficult. I tell everyone here (or at least the ones that read/have read/will read my journal and blog) everything. Let's see if I can find ten things that no one knows about me.

1. Of the 19 Final Fantasy games I own, I have only finished 9 of them. My overall game collection has a 38.8% completion rate.

2. Though I had no interest in it during school, I was actually quite good at track and field events and cross country. The one time I participated in my school's Field Day (a big open sports contest thing), I won awards in all four events I participated in. 3rd Place in Long Jump and 4th Place in 100 meter hurdles. The other two were team events; 3rd in Boys Relay (my team had two girls on it) and 1st Place in Boys Balloon Toss. The last isn't a Track/Field event, but still worth mentioning because my partner (my best friend Heather) and I managed to do better than all of those boys.

3. I tried out for the Cheerleading Squad in high school.

4. I have little to no interest in what most people consider normal things. Things like driving, relationships in a more than platonic way, going to social functions, etc.

5. I hate going to family gatherings, and avoid them like the plague. They think it's because I am just a homebody, but really it's because I don't like giving them things to talk about after I leave. At least this way, I know what they are talking about. "Oh, Michael is not coming today?!" "Yeah, what's new?"

6. I have been thinking of my life in Arizona a lot lately. I want to go back and see where I came from one more time before I am no longer able to.

7. According to the tests, I am a genius. Sheldon Cooper smart. That's why my family will forever not like the fact that I turned down full-ride scholarships from Marietta College and Shawnee State University to work at a newspaper.

8. I am the legs of the newspaper I work for. By showing them off each week, I am doing a public service for the town. Surprisingly, I get more attention from guys than women. And I don't just mean showing a respect for one's strength. I don't think I need to go into too much detail on what I mean. Also, the men at the barbershop take bets on cold weather days on whether I will wear shorts or pants.

9. I am not the most humble of people. Not anymore.

10. I have seen a lot of things I shouldn't have while delivering newspapers. Details on what I've seen will only be discussed privately.

I feel like in order to fill this out, I have to know what most of you think of me. But obviously, ya'll mother****ers don't know SHIT, so I'ma learns you.

1. I absolutely love music. From the time I wake up, music is playing, until I sleep. And sometimes during that. I even prefer it over television.
2. My dream woman is Alison Brie.
3. I won a 1st place trophy from a martial arts tournament when I was in 3rd grade.
4. I can speak/translate a lot of Spanish, but I'm not fluent. I've talked to a guy in Spanish while he responded in Portuguese and we were able to communicate with each other.
5. My favorite rapper is Childish Gambino.
6. I've only been out of the US only twice, and not very far. I've been to Canada (Niagara, Toronto), and The Bahamas.
7. I sometimes use the N-word (not with a hard R) as an alternative to "bro" or "dude" around friends (not in public). Or term of endearment. Still realize it can be very offensive, but think there are multiple ways to use any word. I still sound very much like the standard white dude otherwise.
8. I'm kinda quiet in-person. Especially when you first meet me. Unless there are drinks.
9. I don't know exactly how to play chess. I only have an idea.
10. My favorite animal is the penguin.

lmao.. people (in general) often mistake me for being fluent. a lot of times a native Spanish speaker will talk to me about something, I get the jist of it, but just nod my head and say "si", occasionally putting my own input in when I feel I can make a coherent response.... then later, someone with -no- Spanish comprehension at all will ask me what we were talking abt & I'm like "yeaaaaah... Idk"... Sometimes I pretend like I don't understand English. when people annoy me. and I absolutely refuse to speak English to them. I've gone for nearly a week not speaking English to anyone at work .. drove them nuts. lol

The show is unfunny and frequently gets facts wrong(Not physics...they're pretty sharp on that). And Sheldon ****ing Cooper is the worst thing ever. I actually have Asperger's Syndrome, but was misdiagnosed with ADD. Through a series of Differential Diagnoses I finally learned when I was thirteen that I had Asperger's. Having actually lived with the disorder(Before it was known! Before it was a TRENDY affliction to have. 3. I have a page on IMDB because of my brother and his foolish movies that I've been in.
4. One time I wrote a 500+ page book. Then I deleted it. Subsequent attempts have failed to get anywhere near there.
5. Was on the honor roll several times during college on account of being so damn smart. Also scored a 97 on the ASVAB.
6. Got a standing ovation for my silly Lord of the Falcons monologue I wrote and performed in my college theater class.
7. I was in a band for about 5 seconds. I've also been in choirs and such.
8. I made animal signs at the local weatherman's camera when he came to visit my class one year. I thought this was funny at first, but then I got embarrassed and taped it over.
9. My brother was in a one hit wonder christian swing band in the 90's.

Umm, let's see...

1. I could read much better than my peers when I started school (I remember reading a security notice on a bus fairly fluently at the age of three) and thus found reception/kindergarten especially boring, and felt patronised throughout it. I don't remember being disruptive, though.
2. I sometimes wish I had been more of a 'bully' in school. Not so much picking on people, but standing up to people who gave me a hard time, students AND teachers.
3. I was once commended for 100% attendance one scool year. All the other kids were insanely jealous, and claimed I'd had a day off. Bitterness is a terrible thing...
4. Still on the subject of school, I won a 'keep the school tidy' campaign poster design competition in Year 4, I think it was. My prize was to have the poster made up and displayed all around the school. I don't know about now, but I went back to the school building a few years after I left (I went with my fried to pick her siblings up from school with her) and it was still there!
5. I love to write in my spare time; I have recently written some very raunchy Assassin's Creed fanfiction. You'd expect it from Ezio but... Ooh, Altaïr, you naughty boy! *blushes" (haven't played AC3, so I can't make a slut out of Connor. Yet!)
6. I have DVDs and games which I haven't even played yet, a couple still in the cellophane, some bought up to three years ago.
7. My dream man is Toby Turner (Tobuscus off Youtube). He's so cute and funny... ^_^
8. I have never seen Grease all the way through and never saw Dirty Dancing until I was 25. I was also late to the Titanic party, only giving in and watching the 3D version at the movies last year. Now it is one of my favourite films.
9. I am allergic to cats. I never realised this until quite recently I went to stay with a friend who had three of them at the time. This upsets me as I like cats (prefer dogs, but there ya go) I saw two of the cutest kittens with their owners in separate cars the other day at work...

Hummm

1. I experience ASMR, and it is one of my favorite ways to relax myself into sleep after a hectic day. If I overexpose myself, the tingles aren't as strong, but it doesn't take long before I get them back. My triggers are primarily whispering, tapping, and brush strokes (and in college, watching my drawing professor sketch things with charcoal).

2. I was told by a professor in college that I didn't have a good singing voice. I decided he could **** himself and kept singing.

3. I have two moms (most people know that, though, I'm pretty open about it). We're very close. I also have a dad, and I'm close with him too.

4. Most people also know I'm a feminist. Some have attempted to misalign me with misandry, but I am just as concerned with the negative effects of gender roles on dudes too. Like I'm pretty sure you guys know how to use paper towels when you spill juice on the countertop omg.

5. At the beginning of this year, I resolved to commit to being pescetarian, and it's been going really well. My stomach is way happier. I will, however, eat turkey for Thanksgiving.

6. I want to hike a decent portion of the PCT, CDT, or AT (or all three?) one day.

I've never spit in anyone's food, but when someone comes into the restaurant that I don't like, I will do really passive aggressive things like put WAY too much ice in their cup and not show up for refills OR I'll put like 3 cubes. Or I'll get the kitchen to put way too much dressing on a salad or extra extra jalapenos in a quesadilla. Or not nearly enough dressing. Depends on what I know that person prefers. I get some regular dicks at this job.

8. About a month ago, I decided to go braless (except for sports bras when I work out) and use pasties as needed. I'm a bit of a stereotype at this point (braless feminist rarr) but my chest has been really digging it. Feels good. Pretty sure no one has noticed.

9. Caleb and I are pretty convinced that the ACTUAL first time we met was in high school at a party with mutual friends when I ended up talking to a random guy who was on shrooms. He was rambling about the clouds being like the government (wat). I told the story around him once, and he said, "I think that was me."

10. The reason I got into art classes as a 5 year old was because my teacher saw a crayon drawing I did of my favorite Burger King with the playplace and ball pit and awesomeness.

1. From the age of nine up until about 3 years ago I have washed the whole family's dishes every single day. I cleverly utilized that time to space out and invent epic, melodramatic fantasies in my head >_<

2. I'm a hard-working, level-headed woman, I prefer to let others lead, but lately I've been forced into a commanding position cuz stuff just ain't getting done around here.

3. By the age of 8, I had finished reading the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy without even knowing about The Hobbit, resulting in an intense lack of respect for Bilbo Baggins...

6. I have a cat who pees in the toilette - after drinking from it.
