    Human advancement

Are we ie 'The Human Race' halted in our advancement- technologically, medically, environmentally, politically and sustainably because we have not the abundance of a renewable and/or long lasting energy source that does not produce an environmentally unfriendly end product and that does not have a maintainability factor through the roof?

I think that covers what I want to try and get across forgive me if there are a few Grey areas in that paragraph but we will smooth it out throughout the discussion.

The fossil fuels we are drawing on now are millions of years old and according to research we are drawing and depleting these reserves quicker than they are growing.

Then we have nuclear yes good produces heaps of energy but than you have that ever present cumbersome waste product.

Solar, wind and water all good but the factories that are made to farm and store and distribute this energy have a huge maintainability, and do they sustain themselves (personification) on their own energy that they farm or do they to use fossil fuels to run them so they can farm these eco friendly fuels?

One good thing is BioEthanol fuel love the stuff but what does it take to produce it are we still drawing on the above, if so doesn't that defeat the purpose.

We're progressing every day! In some aspects, sure it seems as though we came to a standstill with our dependence on technology and resources but the use of those tools allows us to make them more efficient and invent new methods. I doubt very much in 100 years the world will be as drastically different as the change from 1900->2000 was, but there's no doubt huge changes in technology and medicine will take place for the better.

    Re: Human advancement

I really don't think energy is the issue slowing down our advacement, so much as our contentment as a species. An overwhelming majority of advances in technology and medicine has come as a direct result of us sometiems wanting, but usually NEEDING such advancements. Right now, we've kinda grown confortable with where we are and what we have. Of course there are still areas to improve and people willing to work to improve them, but there are fewer people driven to change things for the better, since they're okay with what we already have.

As energy goes, I'm all for nuclear. storing waste products is a relatively simple matter to handle compared to issues with other energy sources, and it puts out a ****load more energy to boot.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
