Odin: I don't get what it would've been about if it hadn't been about the good of something, however. Maybe you wanted a show based solely around the bad guys, or something? That might've been cool. However, in my opinion, Goku kicked ass, hippie or not. He had a certain campiness about him that was funny. "Darnet! I don't know how to swear!" Although that was just the English translation.

Each to his own, really. A DBZ without Goku probably would've been fine, too. Unless the bad guys always won; that might be too dark for my tastes. Hmm....

I also liked Yamcha. Mostly in Dragon Ball, though, when he made a difference in existing. Puar and Oolong were also the coolest pointless characters ever. Was Puar a guy or a girl? Heh. Choutzu was also good for needlessly sacrificing himself every once in a while. That was his sole contribution. That and losing to Krillin in the very first series he was in, I think. Or did he do anything else in Dragon Ball? I guess I can't really say that, seeing as I didn't see Dragon Ball in its entirety...

Piccolo was The Namek, I'll give him that. He was pretty bad ass.

Woow! Piccolo lol. He was a great character, he was very powerful and always wanted to help fight battles. I really enjoyed the Cell Saga, I thought it went on for quite a long time though. It was awesome how Gohan ended up defeating him, it was great to watch. The Majin Buu Saga was pretty cool as well, you got to see Vegeta at his finest.

Haha, I liked Hercule. What an idiot, he would always exaggerate about how strong he was. I liked it how Cell flicked him into some rocks, what a funny sight. I felt sorry for Videl at times because she didn't realise how weak her father really was lol. She was probably stronger than him. I thought it was nice how Hercule looked after that puppy during the Majin Buu Saga, that was pretty sweet.

Master Roshi cracked me up because all he ever seemed to be interested in was porn. You would always see him reading dirty magazines lol. I remember there was one episode where they were all at his house and Future Trunks was talking to them about something and all he cared about was the women exercising on television.

I need to start watching DBZ again. I miss watching it! I have a few videos of it somewhere, I want to get all the DVD's sometime though so that should be cool.

Well the Buu Saga should have been Gohan as the hero, and while he was for a small period, it was still about Goku. Goku was dead and he was fine with that, I was fine with it, Gohan was a better fighter in some cases as opposed to Goku. Goku was too soft a lot of times, and Gohan was sort of, he was definitely more willing to end a fight than Goku was. Both enjoyed the fight and Gohan made the mistake of letting Cell self-destruct, but in the end if Gohan had not be forced into doing schooling and continued his training, he would have equal to Goku's power since he already had a head start.

Gohan would have been definitely stronger than Vegeta who could not find SSj3 and required helped to get even remotely strong enough. Goku and Gohan are clearly the strongest fighters. Though it is unfortunate that Krillin and Piccolo could not follow in their rise to power, because they all got knocked aside because their powers were too weak.

Haha no I don't mean like that, I mean like the show is mainly based on Goku. I guess this is mostly due to the fact Dragonball was also based around him but anyway I would of liked to see a bit more revealing his story. Also it would of been interesting to see Goku met with Bardock and Raditz again, I watched the movie with Bardock and wondered why he never mentioned Raditz in the whole movie.

By the way I believe the entire Z series is on youtube, I watched all of the Cell Saga plus the movie a few days ago. I haven't seen DBGT yet, except for a few episodes.

Does anybody know where to get the english dub Original Sountrack? I look on Galbadia Hotel but they didn't have it.

Of what I've seen of DBGT it isn't as bad as some people made it out to be, but the problem is they try and make it like they know what they can do which kind of spoils it. Also they took out a lot of things such as Gohans ability to go Mystic Saiyan and Vegeta was hardly anything like he was before, surely after 10 years he would have gotten to Level 3. Also why didn't anybody else get stronger? I mean I can understand Gohan as they ruined him with the Saiyaman saga but Trunks and Goten would have been able to get to level 2 or even 3 by now. I suppose its cause they needed something to make them tick...

XD, Yeah I've seen a GOOD bit of DBZ...Like every episode of every series just about, course I missed some here and there...
I thought it was crazy how the Cell games on CN was like 1/4 of the real version. That was pretty trippy.

Haven't watched DBZ in ages. I'm more into Neon Genesis Evangelion now. I will have to start watching it again soon, I miss Vegeta going mad about something every five minutes and Goku saying he wants to eat. It's just such a great Anime. I would love to see the Japanese version considering it isn't childish the the one on Cartoon Network. The only thing about the Japanese version is that Goku's voice sounds a bit too feminine! I just don't really like his Japanese voice that much, I'd probably get used to it though.

I wasn't too keen on DBGT either. It wasn't very interesting to watch. I thought it was silly that they turned Goku back into a child again. I just wasn't fussed on it. I want to watch Dragonball, that was a funny series.

I liked dragonball Z the best.

Best series was probably the Cell saga. When Gohan went super sayian 2 and just took on Cell like it was nothing. Teen Gohan SSJ2 was the coolest.

    Lightbulb ***Absolution!***

    ***Dragonball Z...the greates ever!***

*oh man i love this show,i was probably seven or nine when i first watched this show and eleven years later i still am watchin it....its not because im obssesed but theres nothing else good to watch.well and its the fact that a lot of people here in the philippines are suggesting to the tv stations to keep playing it over and over from the first scene up to the GT series!

*man im hooked to this anime!the adventures of Gokou when he was still a kid blew me away into a world of pure imagination(hey thats a song ) its a very rare anime to begin witha hero and let him acquire all his skills starting from the proper martial arts moves to the kame hame wave and to the king kidama!man this is one of the best anime i will ever remember in my lifetime!

*And finally when Gokou was all grown up and the first time he became a super saian was an amazing moment in anime history ever man!this was the momment when the greatest warrior became an even stronger warrior with cool yellow hair!yeah!

*one of my favorite characters besides Gokou is Picollo, because hes very focused when it comes to battles and hes quite powerful.too bad hes not powerful than the Saiyan people,in the later episodes like the cell and the boo series hes just the advicer of the coment guy...he was practically useless

Actually, I'm almost certain that was not the original first post. I remember that being the second or third post, with the the first post being a much more detailed "This is the DBZ club!" type post (yes, this used to be the DBZ club. It was one of the longest running clubs, too. It went down in activity, though, so that's probably why they moved it here. I wasn't around when they moved it, so...) I mean, especially back in the day, with a first post like that, the thread would've been closed. Plus, the original club leader wasn't Anarchy; it was some guy with "Goku" in his name (but not everyone's favorite Goku, SSJ4Goku.) But anyhoo... Thought I would clarify.

Yeah, I haven't watched the show for at least a year or two now, either, when they were showing the uncut episodes at 10:30 on weekday nights. Do they even show it still, now? I haven't even really heard anything about it for a fairly long time, either. Anyhoo...

Heh. No. They never swear on the show. Except maybe once or twice, if I remember correctly. In one movie, one character said "ass." That was the Android #whatever movie (which had an awesomely random ending involving Vegeta and Piccolo). There was a bit more violence in the uncut versions, however. I think there might've also been a bit more skin shown, as well; at the beginning of one episode, I'm pretty sure it showed Master Roshi sleeping with a dirty magazine covering his face. Heh. Anyhoo...

I'm glad they started airing them again. Sucks that they no longer air it anymore, but they had to make room for other shows.

Holy crap, this is an old thread!

I watch the show a while ago. Every episode and almost every movie. When I was a little kid, I wished that I could to that stuff too. Playing make believe with friends, being just a kid again...

Yea, actually played the card game a long time ago, only the DBZ version. I was unbeatable and virtually unmatched. A red deck with insain combos. I decided to off balance my deck to give my friends a chance to beat me just for a chalange, but it didn't help them much. The only thing I really wanted in the CCG was a complete Gohan Set, Levels 2 and 3, I had all the rest... But that's old news and I retired from the game.

    How old is the series?
"What is it that makes you right over all others? What another tell you does not count."

You claim we are vastly superior, I beg to differ."

DBZ? Ahhh...that brings back good memories. I loved that show as a little kid. I would go around the playground telling all my 7 year old friends to go watch it. I love GOHAN! I never got to watch the whole series because it was so long. By the time I was really serious about DBZ, they were showing reruns on cartoon network. I read the manga parts that I missed though, so I pretty much know the whole story of DBZ. DB or DBGT is a whole other story. I can't find all of DBZ on DVD though.

Actually they're remastering the whole series now completely uncut and re-recording all the voices so that old Vegeta voice won't sound so gay, plus it's in widescreen. I believe it's out right now and was wondering if anybody has seen it yet and how it matches up... I have one of the old Boxed sets of the first part of the Buu Saga however I never got around to getting the last box. I skimmed through the first Episodes but I never watched them in their entirety, might consider getting the remakes at som point.

If you are a purist about visual quality, you won't like it. The widescreen crop ruins a lot of the fight scenes. One of the trademarks of the series was a character on the ground, looking up in the air. Now, they have to choose to pan to one or the other.

I don't even watch anime, but I love this show. I don't know why.

Yeah, I was wondering how they were going to do widescreen on a show that was never shown in widescreen. So Funimation still manages to screw up DBZ while saying that it is the original version. If it was the original they would not be showing it in widescreen. But I guess aside from that point it could be at least a good buy in that it has a large volume of episodes together in one pack. Just makes me wonder how much it is and if it is worth that price tag.

I haven't seen DBZ in years and I'm watching the Cell Saga on Toonami right now. I probably would not be if it was like seven year ago or something. But enough time has passed and I've mellowed some on my annoyance of DBZ. I could see myself wanting to get the first Saga. The first three Sagas were not bad, it just got messed up once Buu entered the picture.

Actually it would depend on the hard copy ie if the original hard copy was slightly longer than shown on TV which seems quite possibly because I've seen old stuff of normally TV (We have a wide screen) which was made well before widescreen came out and it fits perfectly. I dunno what they stated but it really depends on the dimensions of the original, I don't think it'd work well if they had to crop everything.

Well, it was filmed in 4:3. However, Funimation had some screenshots that showed how they managed to add to the screen, supposedly.

They are cutting the top and bottom from what is usually overscan (4:3 TVs zoom into the screen, losing material on all sides. They say that they cut the top and bottom because of the damage to the film. I don't have a link to them, but the two screenshots looked cherry-picked.

    Uhh.. what?

I haven't seen any episodes of Dragon Ball Z for so long, they barely show it on Cartoon Network over here anymore. I have been in the mood to watch it again as well! I suppose I will have to buy the DVD's to be able to do so. Instead I have been playing the games and it has been a blast, I only have the two of them Budokai 1 & 2. I was thinking of getting the new DBZ game for the Wii when it comes out here, it looks awesome!

That's silly how they are re-mastering the show in wide screen though, you lose a fair bit of picture from that. Why can't they just leave it be? It was better left alone in my opinion but oh well. I suppose it'll still be alright.. maybe.

DBZ was a great Anime. Akira Toriyama at his best. I always wanted them to continue the series so they could make up for GT. I didn't really enjoy GT. But one thing will always remain. Mirai Trunks will always be the coolest DBZ character ever mwahahahaha.
