That's actually pretty freakin amazing. I had only imagined that Ramuh was a man-sized god.

The behemoth looks exactly like I'd expect though

I was not expecting it to be that awesome. Holy crap, summoning seems totally worth it haha. Ill be interested to see how the mechanics play out in the final game though, it couldn't possibly be a thing you do when you reach 0 hp only to then have it obliterate the enemy.

It looks almost like it was overpowering for dramatic effect than anything. Maybe something where they purposely put you in an unwinnable situation so the summon can come and save you.

I can't see it being an instant win situation either

I'm almost certain that was scripted to show you the summon.

Also this just looks like a modernized version of the summons from FF3-9 where it's summoned, does it's attack and then goes away.

I don't have a problem with them just showing up and doing their thing and leaving. Gives it that more classic feel you get from summons in the FF series and it is nice to see how it works in a more open world and action RPG than the standard turned based and battle zoned games before.

And yes, they certainly designed the Behemoth to be so powerful that you need to use Ramuh to defeat him. But you can just as well use Ramuh to kill standard monsters as well. So it's not scripted, just they really want to you see how summons are and to give you that classic feeling, which a lot of fans desire.

In the demo, using Ramuh to kill anything gives you no exp or rewards. They specific note that to you. Because he is a one-shot move. He'll likely be scaled back and deal the normal sort of heavy damage you come to expect from a FF summon without one-shotting things. Because right now Ramuh deals about 500,000 damage given it can kill Behemoth.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.
