There's a late 90s Japanese film called After Life which I love, set in a sort of halfway house between this world and the next, where the recently deceased have to choose one memory from their lives to take with them when they move on.

Otherwise I also especially love Chungking Express, City of God and The Lives of Others.

My favorite foreign film (as of today) would be Ranchand Pakistani. It is about a boy and his father who cross the Pakistani border into India and are arrested because of it. The two spend years in an Indian prison, while Ramchand's mother is in Pakistan searching for her son and husband.

I think the movie was based on a real news story. I have read about events like this happening between the two countries long ago, but I think things between India and Pakistan are better now.

Re: What is your Favourite Foreign Film?

Rofl "foreign film". All of my favourite movies are 'foreign films'. All I can exclude are The Lord of the Rings films, Goodbye Pork Pie, and the special effects of Avatar and King Kong (as well as a crap load of smaller films).

So my favourite foreign film is Trainspotting.

Re: What is your Favourite Foreign Film?

The foreign films I usually watch are Japanese (I like the hair-cuts), or Chinese. (Jackie Chan, Jet Li, etc.)
    Some of my favorites:
The man from nowhere (I hereby dub this film drool-worthy. Bleach fans will be pleased to see the Chad cut.)
    Vengeance
Infernal Affairs (they based an American film off this same storyline with Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson. "The Departed" but I couldn't stand the bagpipes.)
I will try to list more favorites later.

Re: What is your Favourite Foreign Film?

I have already said my piece on this topic, but I just wanted to point out to Cyanosuke that Jackie is a Hong Kong actor, not Chinese. Some of his movies may be about China, but still.

Anyway, I like Jackie Chan too. He is a great actor, but an even better singer.

Re: What is your Favourite Foreign Film?

I tend to class my foreign movies by whether they are animated or not.

    Favorite Animated foreign movies:
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - Not typically one of the most popular ones, but it was my first anime movie and still my favorite.
Howl's Moving Castle - Genuinely enjoyable story, excellent character development, and the animation/art style is enchanting.
Spirited Away - It's just plain fun, and who can't fall in love with the Radish Spirit?

    Favorite Non-Animated Foreign Movies:
Chocolate and Raging Phoenix: Jeeja Yanin is Frickin' AMAZING. The martial arts choreography is phenomenal, and she's a pretty decent actress too.
Dead Snow: Norwegians and Nazi Zombies + Lots of blood and gore. What's not to love?
    (TFF Family):

    My TFF Family:
My Anime Addicted sister Athna Loveil
My Unspoken Scabbia Loving Bro Fishie
My Godsmack addicted brother Omega Weapon
My Kooky Soap opera addicted sister Rikkuffx
My Kinky Chipmunk Cousin Unknown Entity, because, you know, cousins can still do stuff in certain states.
    My Twin-like bro Ruin_Tumult

Re: What is your Favourite Foreign Film?

My favourite films are foreign horrors, I feel that they are much better than British or Hollywood horror movies.

Martyr - the storyline in this French movie is epic. If you haven't seen it, then I beg you to at least download it.

Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl - Japanese horror, but in the very bizarre modern sense. Comedic amounts of gore, hilarious acting and scripting, but an awesome movie.

Song of the Dead - American, so technically it is foreign since I'm Scottish. It's a zombie apocalypse musical.

Attack Girls Swim Team vs. The Undead - Another hilarious Japanese horror, and has to be seen, even if just for the wacky teacher.

House of 1000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects - Rob Zombie makes you feel morally raped in these movies, as you end up protagonising the bad guys (or at least I did). Sheri Moon Zombie, Bill Moseley and Sid Haig make excellent performances in both movies.

Night of the Living Dead 3D Remake - I just adore zombie films, and Sid Haig is in this one
    Favourite Lyric For Now:

"Don't be insecure if your heart is pure,
You're still good to me if you're a Bad Kid, baby."

    Lady Gaga

    MY LOVING TFF FAMILY

    TFF WIFEY - angelmarie190515

'The Orphanage' would have to one of my favourite films it is an Italian thriller, I only like thrillers that are foreign films I can't stand all that emotional gushy stuff let alone watching it in another language.

I don't understand why you corrected him? Hong Kong is a city in China.

My favorite foreign film is "Old Boy" from Korea.

Technically Hong Kong is a 'Special Administrative Region', or SAR, in China. Like Macau. It's kind of part of China and kind of not. It has a high degree of autonomy from China.

That's pretty off-topic though. So I'll say 'The Seven Samurai' if by 'foreign' we mean 'foreign language'.

Oh, and Flight of the Conchords are going to make a film!

Almost every movie I've seen falls into that categorie, as for my favorite, that would be The Prestige. Nolan really showed how to make a truly great movie based on book, I like the setting, the cast and their respective roles, the entire plot, the overall message, but most importantly that fine twist at the end of the movie.
