    Harry Potter fans, gather around.

I was one of those guys who mindlessly hated Harry Potter franchise without even giving it a proper go, until recently that is, when I said to myself "why not, let's see what's all the fuss around this Harry Potter".

So far I've seen the first five movies, and I have to say I enjoyed watching them immensely. My favorite two are the very first one (The Philosopher's Stone) and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Both are really exciting, have a great story with a nice twist to them. Two of my favorite characters, one probably the most popular choice out there, Snape and Hagrid. Hagrid is just a fun character all around while Snape, well, that bastard is always suspicious as hell.

There are few things that bother me of course, but I'll restrain myself from mentioning those details in hope it all gets solved in next few movies. Also, as huge fan as I am right now, I don't plan on reading books. Way too much effort to find out few more details if you ask me.

Would you call yourself a fan of Harry Potter? Your favorite movie/book, and character or characters if you will. Also, please try to keep spoilers wrapped in spoiler tag (it's not that I care for others, it's just I haven't seen all the movies yet).

I have never read the books, don't plan on it and I'm not a BIG fan. But I have seen all of movies and they were awesome! Of course there would be faults, but I could not tell what they were because I really enjoyed watching. A lot of good moments and a lot of twists and sad moments. Good! I really love Emma Watson!

Harry Potter is actually a good story despite all the hype.

Re: Harry Potter fans, gather around.

I am not a die hard fan but I am a fan of the movies. Never bothered to read the books (reading is not really a big hobby of mine >_>). I forget which was my favorite one but I think it's the 2nd to the last one and the maybe 3rd of 4th one. The last movie was alright, not the best but good enough to keep me entertained. The 5th one was the worst I think.

Disclaimer: I may have screwed up the numbers. I really wasn't paying attention with the titles.

I'll definitely buy a blu ray pack someday. I want to sit down and watch them all on a long cold weekend so I can connect the stories better.

    My fave is Hermione!

    SPOILER!!:
I really wanted her and Harry to be together. QQ

Re: Harry Potter fans, gather around.

I wouldn't call myself a Harry Potter fan. Can't stand the twerp. I have read the books and watched the first 5 films. I don't have a particular character that I would call my favorite.

My favorite book would be the fifth one, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. My favorite film would be the fourth, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Personally, I wish I had never watched any of the films. After having read the books, you discover that tons of important information either got taken out or thrown at you all at once. Back when the fifth book was coming out, my friends and I would joke around and call it "Harry Potter and the Death of Trees"; because each book kept getting longer and longer. The thing is, despite having to use a whole tree to make a copy, the book had so much in it. The film people had to squeeze 1000+ pages into a 90-120 minute film. The films don't do the books any justice at all.

Sure, the special effects are amazing, but one's imagination is all you really need to picture all that stuff when you read the book.

My advice: Read the book OR watch the movie. If you plan on doing both, watch the movie first. Then, you will have something to look forward to. If you read first, you are in for a big disappointment.

I was like you in the begining Zanatos, mindlessly disliked for no other reason than thinking it was uncool. A despicable thought process in my younger years that if something was seen as uncool, I must not watch it as I would be even uncooler than I already was. When that stage passed and I finally realised how fkn awesome I was, I realised how awesome the Harry Potter series is. Its one of the greatest series I have seen. I have read the first 4 books, so everything after the goblet of fire was new to me. It was fantastic. I know the word 'epic' is overused, but when describing Harry Potter it is very much appropriate. I envy you in the sense you still have more movies to watch. You will not be dissapointed. I would call myself a fan, but im not interested in merchandise.

Re: Harry Potter fans, gather around.

Oh man... When I was first introduced to Harry Potter when I was in 8th grade, I was obsessed with the books. Read the first three from cover to cover many, many, MANY times. Saw the first movie opening day. Used to have a TON of merch too. My favorite was a little stuffed owl that held a scroll that contained a quote from the book.

I stayed a fan all the way up until the last book, and I still have a special place in my heart for the series, though not as strong as when I was younger.

Favorite books are definitely the first 3, after that, things got a little too dark, though still pretty enjoyable. My favorite character is probably Snape.

Re: Harry Potter fans, gather around.

I started reading them in like 6th grade. Went to the midnight launches for them up until when the fourth came out at like 500-600 pages. Said screw it and stopped for a while. Vol 6 was about as long, 7 longer, 5 is wuhhhh.

I think I've read through the first one about 3 or 4 times trying to jump start my interest in the series over the years and refresh my memory, but it wasn't until recently that I've been able to get very far. I'm at the end of book 6 now.

My favorite book so far is probably 5. Even if Harry became a real teenage whiner, it's still a step up from how plain he had been then before then. All he really did was react to things happening and then say nothing more. Emo rage actually bettered the series. 1 and 6 are also quite good... though perhaps the former edges out the latter by a bit.

I've tried to watch some of the movies, but I can't really take them seriously. Whoever played Uncle Vernon makes me soo happy, but after that each of the movies sort of take a downward turn for me when the actors or setting don't mesh with what I had imagined. And they keep playing that same theme song (or a number of songs that sound very alike) over and over throughout the movie. That drove me up the wall after a while. Sort of like how they played that one theme from The Two Towers over and over in various forms.

Don't really know who my favorite characters are yet. I can't come up with anyone that is consistently awesome throughout the series. Snape's cool... Uncle Vernon? lol

I thought Snape or Harry were the ones. Crabbe or Goyle too, but I wonder who would be the top...For that matter, do you usually consider Malfoy on top or bottom?

Thanks to the bloody internet (the usual culprit) I knew with who she winds up with before even seeing the damn movies. I'm glad it's
    Spoiler:
    Ron

,although it was kinda obvious after the third or fourth movie.

Look at that, Malfoy's a Kingdom Hearts fan, still looks like a complete faggot.

I too only watched it recently, it was better than expected, but could have been better. The last two movies felt waaay too rushed, alot to fit in i guess and alot of fans to please.

I would have preferred the entire series alot more if...MAJOR SPOILER
    Spoiler:
Harry died and stayed dead, felt it was a bit of a cop out bringing him back..

Regardless, i enjoyed my Harry Potter experience, it was a breath of fresh air with all the crap coming out in the movies these days.. Transformers, Twilight and next we have the hunger games? Fuck you hollywood!

Oh and, can someone tell me if there are any major story differences between the book and movie?

    @Xanatos - Yeah , I knew that beforehand too...although:

    Spoiler:
The 6th(?) really teased my HarryxHermione pair up dreams again! I just can't see why he'd like Ron's sister. It's like they never talked...in the movies at least

I thought the final fight between Harry and Voldermort, was pretty disappointing.

My favourite moment of all movies, was in the last film, when Professor Minerva McGonagall fought Snape. She's one hell of a lady! I teared up a little

I have to second this and what Nix said. One thing I found interesting about Voldemort though, with all his power he was still terrified of Harry Potter as much as Harry was of him, and they did a really great job at showing that.

I am a big fan! I have read all the books, I own all by the last book, I've seen every movie and have all but the last three. Without giving away anything, I just have to say, no offense to the Twilight crowd but I love Harry Potter more than the Twilight saga.

Don't knock the Hunger Games dude or I'll knock you I thought it was better than HP, I have read all the books and I can't wait for the film.

As for Harry POtter loved the books and loved the movies. I started reading HP in high school and only just finished reading last year after a big hiatus. My biggest spin was finding out about the Deathly Hallows and how they were connected to Harry that was pretty amazing.

I also loved the bit where
    Spoiler:
The trio started to fight and really test the friendship when they had the choice to destroy the horcruxes or look for the Deathly Hallows

All in all I thought nothing in the story needed changing. It was well written, but the movies could have been a bit more detailed I guess that's why the split the Deathly Hallows into two parts.
