    Game of Thrones

I didn't see a topic for it, so I thought I'd make one.

I've seen Season 1 4 times, and I love every second of it. We're 2 episodes into the second season, and it's already been renewed for a third. I've read all the books so I basically know what's going to happen, but how they do it...so far it has been just beautiful.

My favorite characters in the show are Arya, Tyrion, Gendry, Dany, Jon Snow and Ser Jorah. Not necessarily in that order.

Characters I love to hate: Cersei, Joffrey, Jaime.

I don't want to say too much, I'd rather wait and see where you all are at in the series!

    Re: Game of Thrones

I've read all but book 5 - I refuse to pay $35 for the hardbound version of books... they take up too much room - and have really enjoyed them.

The tv show is pretty good... I've enjoy'd the HBO version. Some minor changes / gaps, but that's typical.

Favorite Characters of the series (book versions that have made it to hbo):
    Tyrion, Davos, Sam, Arya, Baelish

Hated Characters: Cercei, Lysa, Caitlyn, Joffery, 1/2 of the white cloaks.

I can't be the only one who felt like they had to rewatch the ENTIRE first season to get a grasp/remember what was going on in the second season. Am I?

GOT has so many characters and different little small stories going on. Starting the second season I felt like I just forgot a lot of the small plotlines going on and some characters also.

    Re: Game of Thrones

Just started watching it, first three episodes of Season 1 are down, so far so good I am liking the story, I haven't read the books but that is my preferred genre so I have no doubt I will eventually purchase them to read.

As for characters I am still trying to put names to faces I can name 40% of the main characters but my wife and I have resorted to call them by their status like mother and queen and red haired girl haha, but we will get them down pact soon enough.
The main reason is because they are different names that it is hard to understand what they are saying.

    Nonetheless I am enjoying it.

I felt the same way too after I watched the first season. To be honest, I didn't get a clear grasp of what was going on until I had watched the first three episodes; then I was addicted. However, I only watched up to episode nine of the first season before I read the first book - I wanted to know what happened book wise first.

In regards to that, I'm about halfway through a Storm of Swords (the third book) and I've loved them so far.

Favorite Characters: Jon, Arya, Catelyn, Daenyrus, and Tyrion - Gendry too, but that's not until Clash of Kings/second season.
    SPOILER!!:
    I loved Eddard a LOT.
Oh, and I do like Bran, however I found some of his chapters in the second book kind of dull. I've only watched the first episode of the second season so I can't really compare right now.

Characters I want to die horrible, humiliating deaths: Joffrey, Cersei, Lord Tywin, Jaime, Theon, and Littlefinger just because he's such a ****.

@ RamesesII - If fantasy is your genre, I definitely recommend reading the books, especially if you get a chance to before you watch the entire season(s). I will say that HBO did an amazing job at sticking to the books for the most part, even a fair majority of the character's lines are straight from the books.

I only recently began to watch Game of Thrones, I'm halfway through first season and I'm really liking it. My favorite character so far is Imp, for obvious reasons. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a soft porno set in medieval time, I highly doubt there are this much tities in original source but who am I to complain =D

EDIT: I forgot to mention just how much I hate that little bitch Joffre.

Just wait, dude. Joff's a ****ing ****, but if you like the Imp already you might fall in love. Tyrian's one the most interesting characters in the show/books, in the least he's the only awesome Lannister, IMHO.

I don't recall hating any fictional character as much as I ****ing hate him.

I'm on second season of Game of Thrones and it only gets better and better. Tyrion still rules, he's one cunning imp, love the way he defies and slaps that little **** Joffrey. Another character I grew fond of is Sandor the "dog", despite serving the "king" Joffrey he's still an honorable man and does things right in his own way. Arya and Bronn are also great characters.

To late haha but I will still get them.

I have just started to watch the second season, I was pissed at the end of the first for obvious reasons.

I love Tyrion he connects with everyone I like how the hill clans are still with him.
Jon Snow is brilliant as well as his fat friend I can't think of his name he is funny although he doesn't try.

    The best part was when
    Spoiler:
Robb went to talk to Jaimee after he got the note from Stanis and of course as Jamie does is being all cocky and the camera does a Blair witch things as Robbs wolf strides around the cage to confront Jaime, not going to lie that was f***ing sweet they did a brilliant job filming that.

The introduction of Stanis has interested me especially the stand and motives that he is taking I won't say much more.
    Renly Roberts youngest brother
    Spoiler:
has also laid claim to the throne interesting to see where he will go.

I was excited when Dany did what she planned it was predictable but still exciting.

Xanatos you are right I think though they don't dwell on 'the hound' a lot I think he seems to be an honorable knight, he seems to have taken a protective role over Sansa.

    Re: Game of Thrones

So, I have to say now, after seeing a good bit of the second season, that I'm disappointed. They deviated from the book a lot more than I had anticipated (actually changing some of the storyline for certain characters almost completely). Some of the shit they did to Daenyrus was particularly frustrating:

    SPOILER!!:
Her dragons were never stolen in the book, and I thought that made her seem really ****ing weak. In Clash of Kings, she had personal guards guarding her dragons when she wasn't with them, and she always had one of them with her. When she goes to visit the House of the Undying it has nothing to do with retrieving her dragons, but she goes to seek the warlock's council in regards to gaining back her throne. Of course, it's a trick - her dragons are sought after greatly, but seeing how one of them actually saves her from that house (which was ****ing creepy) I thought that change was a major ****-up.

    And Arya:

    SPOILER!!:
Is never Tywin's cupbearer/holder/whatever the ****. However, I liked the dynamic between those two actors, and I can understand the need to show his planning in regards to King's Landing, etc. In the book it never really mentions what exactly he's going to do until the end basically. Arya's under the command of this ****wad "Weese", but the whole three lives thing with Jaqen H'Ghar is the same (the lives are slightly different though).

    And Bran:

    SPOILER!!:
They left out the frog-people completely, that was REALLY disappointing cause I wanted to see who they go to play them: Meera and Jojen I believe. They're the ones who inform Bran of his gift/magical ability. I'm surprised they cut them out, since Bran hits the road with them in Storm of Swords, so I don't know if they're gonna add them in later or what...

    And Jon:

    SPOILER!!:
The whole thing with the red-head's completely different towards the end of book two; HBO had to start the sex shit with him early - shocker.

    And Rob:

    SPOILER!!:
Is only mentioned in passing, so I understand some of his scenes, but the nurse bit is off. He marries a woman of lesser nobility who nursed him back to health from an injury in one of the battles he fought. I'm not sure if they kept her identity the same (secretly) or if they changed that whole thing as well. Regardless, the result is the same - his alliance with whatshisname is put to shit.

    However, I loved:

    SPOILER!!:
When Joffrey gets the shit thrown at him. Best. Chapter. Ever.

Also, RamesesII - Jon's fat friend is Samwell Tarly (Sam), he's kind of awesome.

I just started watching this show. I've watched six episodes so far and I really like it. I expected it to be well not that good.
The characters I really like are Arya Stark, Jon Snow, Eddard Stark, Tyrion Lannister.
The characters I don't like are Jaime Lannister, Sansa Stark.

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

I unfortunately don't have HBO, but that didn't stop me from traveling 800 some odd miles to the 'rent's house and raid their on demand so I could watch the first two season.

I thought LotR would forever be fantasy fiction king... but his had it beat hands down. And anything with Sean Bean = full of win.

Excellent series though I haven't gotten around to watching the second half of the second season yet but from what I did see it was shaping up quite nicely. This is Fantasy fiction done right.

    Two words: Jaqen Hagar.

I've read all the books (except five, which I got about halfway through. I had to stop, as I read all of them in one sitting in about a month) and I have to say--I was disappointed with the second season. I hated how they went and changed some of the characters' storylines. Then again, I think the second book is a weak one.

But the third book is my favourite and I can't WAIT until next season.

I hate Jon Snow. I love Osha. More Osha. plz. And more Brienne. And Jaime.

Lover I don't play to win, but for the thrill until I'm spent.

I've only seen a few episodes, up to where Sansa's wolf gets put down, but I've read all the books. I gotta say I think in the episodes I watched they did a good job of casting. The guy playing Tyrion pulls him off perfectly.

I'm not so sure about Jon. The guy the cast for him seems a bit antithetical to who he is in my mind, but maybe he's gotten better.

What confuses me about the show is what they plan on doing once they catch up to G.R.R. which they will surely do. It'll be ~ a decade before the book series is finished, and they'll be caught up in 3 years.
