    2001: A Space Odyssey

Yeah I really cant spell that word....
But anyway, has anyone out there seen this classic of a Sci-Fi film? We just finished watching it in Media Studies today and honestly there were many unanswered questions by the end of it. I think I'm gonna have to look it up on IMDB to figure out the entire ending sequence. Other then that I loved it, some scenes were a tad slow and drawn out but I was amazed by pretty much everything else. So, yeah has any one seen or heard about this film? I have so many questions to ask XD

    Re: 2001: A Space Odyssey

One of my favourite films. It was my top favourite for some time. Kubrick is genius and a perfectionist, and I worship at his altar.

But I still have no idea what the ending means.

I've heard some really interesting theories, including one (which momentarily escapes me) from my friend who is big on existentialism, through which he formed a mind **** of an interpretation of the ending. I'll ask him to explain it to me again.

I thought he might have gone through a black hole or something but that still leaves a lot more questions. I was suprised how many tv shows, etc have referenced this film too. I swear that HAL was in an episode of The Simpsons at one point and SpongeBob's used that choir-tension building thing too. And I've heard that Samsung's using the the fact that there iPad like computers in this film in its arguement against Apple over the rights to the iPad itself which is pretty cool.

A lot of that film is essentially cliche these days, but it's good you've seen it when it was original.

And yeah HAL was done on The Simpsons, it tries to kill them in their new house or something. Great episode.

2001's a great movie. Amazing special effects, spare use of dialogue, mindblowing special effects, great acting, did I mention special effects?
