Thread: Game Progress (No Spoilers)

I have yet to learn any quickenings. Are they at the edge of the boards? I'm sure i'll run into them soon. I managed to beat those judges asses even at a low level, though i'm having a much harder time just escaping. I guess i'm trying to be curious george too much and explore the other parts of the ship. Managed to find an ancient sword among some other things before getting killed. Eh maybe should try the more direct route. I'm just hoping there isn't another boss battle coming up. Definitely had a lot of fun leveling up Ashe though.

Yeah that nidhog completely wrecked me when i tried to fight it. I'm gonna have to do the same and level up once i'm done with the Leviathan. Also, get some money, buy new spells, equipment, etc.

hey everyone! i am at the save point just vefore the queen mimic boss battale. im into the game about 6 and a half hours. everyone is at level 9 except bashe (level 10). i had a very hard time trying to get to the queen mimic boss. took me FORVER. i kept dying when trying to kill the battery mimics... everytime i was fighting one.. other monsters kept joing it and beating me down! i was like "WHY DONT THOSE MONSTERS MIND THIER OWN BUSINESS!! JEEZZ!!" lol hahaa but ya. i am seriously thinking about restarting the game though cuz i got pretty lost with the license grid and a little with the gambit thingy too. so my characters arent really that great right now and arent going anywhere specific. should i start over? is it too late? should i keep going? let me know! i did not like how we have to have a license for weapoms, armor, etc. why cant we just equip them once we buy them? but its ok now.. i feel a little better with it. and one more thing...is the only place to get weapons at any store or merchant? pleas let me know.. either PM me or on here.. sorry for going a bit off topic but ya..
    *FINAL FANTASY IS GOOBERIFIC*

the left one is the final fantasy series and the right one is me.... ya.. its THAT good..

Well I finished up things in the Tomb of Raithwall and back in town. I have my first Esper as well now too. So I have each one of my three party members with something extra to use. I beat the last boss I fought solo with my Esper, that was a lot of fun. I picked up a few more Marks and got all of the Gambits I could and some new spells. I am up to 15:09 now.

    Vaan 20
    Balthier 14
    Fran 9
    Basch 20
    Ashe 20
    Penelo 14
    Hedge Knight
    67565 Clan Points

Before continuing to the next part I am going to be trying to kill a few Marks, at least one more since that is all I need for the next rank.

I have been putting some license in my armor, but most of it is still going in abilities and things. Basch and Ashe of a lot of strength, and Ashe has up to lv 5 white magick now too. I'm gearing her up more for a strong attack, but a good white magick base. Basch is all out power more or less with some healing ability. And I'm trying to make Vaan more well rounded. So he is not so strong, but got a little bit of everything.

Penelo sitting on 1044 License Points since I have not touched her since the first time.

    Highest chain now is 118

I have six things in my Six Pirate's Den.

The only problem I run into is that I am always low on money. I went out just to go kill for money, because I wanted some better equipment. It is pretty rough to make cash. I know what I do to make quick cash, but it is still hard to keep around.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I feel so sad... all I've had time to accomplish was kill Rogue Tomato. I'm never home to play the game... either at work or at college. I miss the days where I could beat a game in 2-3 days straight... of course, in a way it might be better, because the game lasts longer for me now. Its not over and done with in 3 days.. hah. Oh well, once I'm done with Calc III hw and test studying, I might have time to play for 1-2 hours before class and work... O.o

Ha that's how i feel too..i've been going somewhat quick but i've decided to not rush myself..i don't want this game to over too soon do i? This is not the kinda game i would want to rush but to take my time. It's just so hard to put down though!

Anywayz, i stopped playing last night after i got wrecked my judge ghis. I knew i should have leveled up more..grrr..gonna b hard to level up on the leviathan but i'll figure out something. Maybe just mess with my gambits a little bit.

yeah money is hard to find, its all about sellin that loot i guess. For awhile i just kinda kept all my loot, when i got to the leviathan i sold it all for close to 15k! I was happy i had some money so i went to town gettin new weapons and armor for my team.

I hate Nidhogg. I beat the Cactus Flower and Wraith, but Nidhogg keeps beating me. I decided to continue with the story for now, and I just got to the Sandsea. I own all the available gambits, but my weapons are seriously outdated. I am out of money, and have used most of my licensing on stat boosts and Gambit slots. My characters are from Level 12 to 14.

A good gambit setup for that is to have the following:

    Character 1
Assuming this is Vaan (you may opt not to use him, your choice), set up as usual.

    Character 2
    Ally: HP < 30% >> Potion
    Ally: HP < 40% >> Cure
Foe: Party leader's target >> Attack

    Character 3
    Ally: HP < 20% >> Hi Potion
    Ally: HP < 50% >> Cure
    Ally: HP < 70% >> Protect
Foe: Party leader's target >> Attack

Ashe is a good choice for character three in this one. Splitting up curing duties by alternating percentages really helps conserve everyone's MP.

I started by taking out all of the soldiers before touching Ghis, mostly because Ghis sits in the background for a good 20 seconds before actually getting to you -- by that point, you can already have two of the soldiers dead.

...and now I think I'm going to set up a help thread, where spoilers are allowed, primarily because this is meant solely to be a progress thread.

A bit more on-topic, I haven't played since I went to bed last night. Of course, the fact that I slept for 12 hours might have something to do with that. Andromeda is now ahead of me. I haven't gotten to the Tomb yet.

Yeah, my trouble is that i didnt buy any gambits really so all i have the basic ones and the few i have found as treasure. Only HP ones i have are <60%, < 70%, < 80%. Plus i have a somewhat crappy selection of potions, went crazy with my money spending it all on new weapons and armor. i went for the mistake of trying to go straight for Ghis while i was getting killed by those soldiers. Thanks for the tips though, if only i had all the gambits

Though now i am quite confident i should be able to take him on. I've leveled up quite a bit in the Leviathan. Its such a great place to level up with all the guys coming at you, if you ever need you can always go back to the save point to restore hp/mp. Ashe is a very good healer now, so i'm gonna have her be my main healer, with Vaan healing as well. Baasch i just learned my first quickening, it's that same one he used at the beginning of the game. Just don't know how to use them right.

Anywayz, STILL on the leviathan, about to give Ghis another go.

When someone get to 2. temple, let me know.
I don't know what I need to do.
Trust me, you'll have to do some thinking too
Life's party! Why to leave it???

Why didn't you just wait until someone posted that they were at the temple, instead of making a pointless post like this?

Also Loco made a help thread for a reason... to you know... help people? You're obviously stuck with something so go post in there, but please don't just put "i'm at the temple i don't know what to do".

Everyone's been posting their levels, where they're taking their characters and what they're doing at the time, i'd suggest you follow suit if you plan on posting in this thread again.

    Oh. My. God.
This game is gorgeous, the city is beautiful, so far the story is to my liking; I'll be very happy if we get a rest from love stories and it seems like this is a bit more about politics.
I'm still a little befuddled with the fighting system, I wish there would be a way to block available, my poor Reks got a bit hurt, but, the learning curve is pretty fast.

I'm at awe at how big everything is, I've gotten lost a couple of times, given that I get sidetracked gawking at stuff, hahaha!.
Too bad that it seems that this is another game that will make me very sick, unless I play it for no more than a couple of hours, this kind of camera kills me.

I've gotten as far as the first save point on my way to the Killer Tomato (who knew, we would end up fighting killer tomatoes?) and I quit; real life beckons.
    *sigh*

Oh right, my level?, I have no idea, sorry.

I spent a day away from FFXII, but it's on the save screen right now. I think I'm just going to spend time getting gil, LP and better armor for a few hours. I just finished up the whole Leviathan thing.

Right now, here are my stats:

    Time: 12:15:44

    Hedge Knight: 17642

    Gil: 1419

    Vaan: Lvl. 11
    Balthier: Lvl. 10
    Fran: Lvl. 10
    Basch: Lvl. 11
    Ashe: Lvl. 12
    Penelo: Lvl. 11

Andro, are you doing the clan hunts or hunts posted on the boards?

I'm doing both, though I have not found any of the marks for the Clans. I have 10 I think now, but only 4 of them are killed. I found one accidentally and it nearly killed me.

    Vaan 21
    Balthier 14
    Fran 9
    Basch 22
    Ashe 22
    Penelo 14
    Rear Guard Rank now
    77635 Points

    I am at 17:00 now

I just finished talking to the Viera in their town and I'm off to some mines. I ran into some birds that I could not hit from the air, so I now I have to equip some ranged attacks for my main characters. That is a pain, but I knew I would need to put things in there eventually.

I got to ride a chocobo for the first time and that was a lot of fun. It feels a little slow, but it is safe for like a few minutes which is useful. I have to find some place with a chocobo, so I'm a little confused right now.

I just got to the Tomb of Raithwall, and dealt with the opening boss. I teleported out of there, with my new levels and licenses in tow, and sent Nidhogg back to Hell. I am looking for my first Level II mark, the Wyvern I think. I havent done Montblanc's marks because I heard they were extra hard.

Basch is Level 14, everyone else is Level 15. I achieved the clan rank of Rear Guard. Vossler is a guest, and I am keeping it that way until I beat the Marks I would like to and buy all of the techniques and magic. Basch learned a Quickening, now he and Ashe both have one.

You'd definitely be right about that. I figured "Oh, those are Rank 1, they can't be too tough" and then got slaughtered. Twice. I've since given up on them for a while. I'm not even going to touch them until I'm level 20 or higher.

I refuse to use a guide, so I don't know what the "ideal" level would be for them.

Seriously, I hate the guide. I was using the index to get some information on one of the hunts, and on the adjacent page is the name of the Final Bosses in big letters. Goddammit Brady Games. All I wanted was some help finding items.

The guide is useful for a few things, but that's about it. There is one HUGE thing in the guide that I wouldn't have even had the slightest guess about. If you guys didn't figure it out (because there are no hints about it in the game at all), I'll put it in a spoiler box below. It doesn't give away any of the plot or anything like that, but hopefully....

    Spoiler:
You haven't opened all of the chests that you've come across. There are some that you aren't supposed to open. It has to do with one of the strongest weapons in the game.

It's not even really what I'd consider to be a spoiler at all, really. More like a huge tip. Huge, huge tip. Trust me though, if you haven't read what is inside the spoil tag, you may want to. I promise you that there is nothing in there that gives away anything about the plot or bosses of any kind.

If someone reads it and thinks that it may be taken as a spoiler, please remove it from my post. I don't want to spoil anything, but I feel that you guys should look into it.

Oh wow, I'm so happy right now. I spent two hours level and farming bats in this new dungeon I'm at. I'm getting 200 exp for each bat, so I leveled a lot. But I also got 99 Crooked Fangs, that go for 300 or more gil a piece, that came out to 25k almost. And I also have like 60 Wind Stones and 40 Wind Magicite. My gil went from 5k to 45k. So then I go on a shopping spree and get fully loaded out on the best swords and armor.

I now have returned to the dungeon I am killing these bats without effort. I was doing 200-250 for everyone and guest character doing 300-350. I'm now doing 600-700 and the guest is still doing the same. I could not believe the jump that I made in damage.

    Vaan 25
    Basch 25
    Ashe 25
    Everyone else the same
    Points 115691

And I hit 218 chain on those bats. I'm at 19 hours now. I might have dropped 2 hours on that, but it was well worth the effort and I'm pleased beyond all belief in the results.

Oh and I also made 100k says the Den.

Yeah i've always refused using guides for the most part in RPGs except if you are really stuck or just need info on certain things in the game. I've been tempted to look at some for FF XII, but haven't as of yet. I don't want anything spoiled.

Anywayz, with a little leveling up and some reconfiguring, that Ghis battle was a complete breeze. He didn't even get near to killing anyone, my healing kept things on lock down.

Just got Vossler in my party again and making my way thru the Sandseas because of those crazy star wars esque sand raider like people.

Vaan Lv. 13, Basch Lv. 14, Ashe Lv. 13, Vossler Lv. 17

I can't wait till i can get back to town, maybe i could if i had any teleport crystals. You can buy them i think right? I'm kinda wanting to get some of the clan hunts out of the way though.

Well I actually managed to get 6 hours of gameplay in today. I think I'm playing this game too much like FFXI though. I have a bad habit of grinding in areas, instead of moving on. My favorite grinding spot was Barheim Passage. The obvious way through here is to kill the Mimics before your power goes below 50%.. because all the evil shit comes out when it does. But hey, do I listen to the advise and do that? Nah. I let the power go all the way down to 0% and boy does a whole bunch of mobs come out to play. I went up to level 11 in there and made over 10k in gil.. just killing all the mobs that kept popping. Zombies went through the whole alphabet about 3X. In the end, I managed to purchase all the latest gear and all the spells/techniques/gambits currently on sale.

I headed off to the Aerodrome for my first airship ride and now, its time for bed/school/work.. and all that fun jazz. I won't be able to play the game again until Tuesday... O.o

After riding the Aerodrome and going inside the mines, now I'm still in Bhujerba. Right now I'm going to do a few mob hunts and try to level up my characters a bit more. Vaan is at level 13 along with Fran and Bacsh at the same level, but with Balthier at level 14. They each learned magic up to level 2 and 3 per magic type (except arcane). And they have learned some techniques as well. My clan rank is a Rearguard with 27,774 points. I'm currently on my fifth mob hunt fighting against Nidhogg.

Well made it thru the sandseas and to the tomb of raithwell. Instead of going on though i backtracked thru the sandseas to the teleport spot. I'm managed to do some nice leveling up in the sandseas. Now i'm returning to town to restock on items, weapons, armor, magic, finish some clan hunts and get some MONNNEY. Happy to have my first pole (cypress pole) that i got thru the bazaar, that i equipped on Vaan. As well as my first spear which Penelo is using because she is my spear user. Also got two quickenings for penelo already.

Well I made it past that area and I am now trying to figure out my way into a shrine that I need something from. It is all locked up and I'm tired, so I'm ending there tonight. A little earlier for me, but oh well. Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will be going all day long on it.

    Vaan 27
    Basch 28
    Ashe 28
    Points 156482
    22:01 right now

I killed Nidhogg without trouble this time, he was a push over. And I killed another mark that was further in. I picked up a few more, mostly Rank II ones so I am a little concerned about fighting them. Right now I have +500 and +200 HP for Ashe and +500 for Basch, along with the other +HP I have, but these are new ones. I also get a double license points item for all three of them now. So I am getting license points really easily now.

I also rode the airship and learned that the teleport stones on purchasable from there. So now I don't have to worry about spending the 14 stones I managed to find. Now I can have as many as I need.

The story is getting really interesting and involved now. So I'm pretty excited to see what happens next since there is a lot of things happening right now.

Andro, where did you go to level at? I'm getting frustrated at one of the Espers. Four different characters have their Quickenings now. It's just annoying when you can't pull off the moves...

So yeah, that's where I'm at. I need to go level up a bit before I continue on. I've kind of rushed things. I'm not sure what level I'm at now because I just shut the PS2 off.

Well it depends on what level you are where you go to level. I leveled the most recently at the Henne Mines on just bats for a while. 218 chains will that do to you. Earlier I leveled off of those sea people since there are a ton of them everywhere and if you are getting the Esper Balias then, you are probably in the Sandsea area.

Well I just completed Leviathan and beat Ghis. It was a bit of a challenge but not to bad.

    My progress:

    Vaan: LVL 12
    Baltheir: LVL 12
    Fran: LVL 12
    Ashe: LVL13
    Penelo: LVL 13
    Basch: LVL11

I dont really care to much for Basch.

I have a little over 11 hours of play time.

I decided to give Nedhogg another go, and ended up losing due to an insufficient number of Pheonix downs... He had like 200 HP left, I was soooo close.

Im going to go buy more items then whoop his sorry ass.

I think Im a rear gaurd in the clan.
    Omnislash = 15 hits, 15 X 9999 = 149985

    Lion Heart Including Renzokuken = 27 hits, 27 X 9999 = 269973

    Lion Heart WITHOUT Renzokuken = 17 hits, 17 X 9999 = 169983
Lionheart is better then Omni-Slash. PERIOD.

Well garoupinha87..there is a help thread for a reason. This thread is not meant for questions, but to post your game progress.

Anwayz, made it through the tomb of raithwell and i'm at the battle with Belias. Kinda sux i didnt level up magic more because i could use some water spells right now but he shouldn't be too much of a problem anywayz.

Vaan Lv. 18 Ashe Lv. 18 Basch Lv. 19 Vossler Lv. 17

Looking forward to getting some more clan hunts done once i'm done with this..especially that Cluckatrice.

6 items in the sky pirate den..have atleast one quickening for each of my active members (Two for penelo who i haven't even used). Clan Rank - Rear Guard.

Well just finished the Tomb of Raithwell..what a crazy scene/incident that happened afterwards! Won't spoil anything but certainly a change of events..

Taking a break now before going to meet with the garifs? Got some clan hunts/leveling up to do for the time being.
