FF8 opening FMV most epic ever?

For every Final Fantasy, there is an opening FMV...at least from IV and up....after seeing VIII's opening movie for the first time when I was 13....my job dropped.

From the music, to the scenes with Rinoa, Squall and the Sorceresses (probably didn't spell that right but meh)...but perhaps the best part of it...heck it is the best part. The sword fight between Squall and Seifer, first starting off with the gunblade coming swinging from the sky, coming down and then they just duke it out.

The fights, the scenes in between, the bloodshed...everything. It equals epic, the only other FMV that comes to mind that is that good is FFXII and that's only because of the opening war battle...even though it was pretty freaking long.

But what do you think. Is the FF8 opening FMV the most epic FMV of all the final fantasies? Is it your top 3? Or do you not like it at all. Let me know

Definitely my favorite. Followed by X, XII, X-2, and XIII. LOL, yes they're all awesome. IX and VII were good too.

It has to be. Everything about it was beautifally done and hearing Liberi Fatali makes you want to grab a sword yourself and run into battle.

Great opening. Great musical piece. Great imagery. I would say its one of the best intros in any of the FF games I've seen. The graphics are also superb, especially considering when it was created. I've just arrived at Ultimecias castle on my 30th or so playthough. I love having all the FF on my psp.

the first time i played ff8 and saw the intro i immeaditly done a quick reset just to watch it again the next time i was that blown away by a FF intro was 10 but then again thats PS2

Yeah, VIII's opening FMV was my favorite too. Very epic and beautiful, coupled with the Latin chorus and orchestra.

Just (if I were a swearing person, I'd put a few obscenities here) beautiful. My absolute favorite in the series so far. That first scene reeled me in and will forever hold a special place in my heart. FFVII would probably be second and X would be my third favorite.

To the first post, yes, I believe so. It's one of the best openings I've seen introduced for any game, ever.

I cant think of a better on thats for sure X is good and IX is good also like XIII but they cannot compare to VIII just the way everything was so beautiful and then coupled with the music was just phenomenal hands down number 1 when i first saw it i was all like *speechless*

FFX and FFXIII get my vote but if you are on about just for the PS1 then yes FFVIII takes the prize.

The intro to the FFVIII certainly is memorable. That's all I can say really.

I hadn't actually thought of it and compared them but yeah now that you mention it VIII's opening scene really is awesome. In a lot of ways the ending is also one of the best in ther series.
