    Northern Crater Glitch

This might seem trivial to some but it's something that I have never found an explanation for (and not entirely sure why it happens). In the Northern Crater, there is a point further down where the party decides to break into two groups. Immediately behind where the groups stand is a stalagmite that is used either to gain access to the ground below or of course to return upwards. I have an old PS1, with an original copy of FFVII in which twice over the years I have become literally stuck at this point, wasting a bucket load of time and effort playing as I can not actually return back up this blasted pillar of limescale.

As much as you fiddle with the action button in and around the base of the stalagmite, Cloud quite simply refuses to climb. The reason why is still unknown to me. The only thing different I recall doing at that point in the game was sending the entire party in one direction as I wasn't watching the television just trying to skip through hammering the 'x' button. My make shift savepoint is in the fork in the road and there's nothing to load back to prior!

Doomed in a pit for the rest of time. Anyone experienced this glitch?

No sorry only answer, get another coy of FF7 you can get one of Amazon cheap. Or alternitavely if you have a PS3 download the game from the Playstaion Store it only costs £7.99, it is the exactly the same game but apparently has SLIGHTLY smoother graphics but I am not 100% sure on that.

The slight improvement on the graphics is true yes. I've seen it played on the PS3 at a friends house. You can even set it back to the original definition and by God on a big television (think that twelve years ago most of us were using CRT style tele's!) it looks horrific.

I'm convinced the glitch occurs because of sending the entire party down one path. I would love for someone else to prove me wrong though.

Can't say i have ever experienced this glitch before, but it is an interesting one. I used to own an original copy on the PS1 but i am no longer in possession of it. If i did, i would test this out myself. Interesting find though Diamond Dust
