I think Square Enix likes to show off their glove flexing animations
Maybe it's just to stop the characters' hands from getting worn using the weapons?

I think therefore I am.
Couse gloves are cool.
And I guess it's also to protect their hands from holding their magic super powered swords.
It's probably because of the applied functional use that combat or form fitting gloves have. There is the idea of not leaving fingerprints while wearing skin tight gloves, which could also have the strength to hold up during tight roping and other cat burgler stuff. Wearing tight, dark gloves also allow the chance of cleaning your hands off of all that blood. You won't have to worry about getting blood and dirt under your fingernails. Some aren't worried about the fingernails. Some people use fingerless gloves, which suggests they are only wanting extra padding and grip when holding a weapon or lifting heavy. There is also a chance that game makers didn't want to spend more time detailing hands, so they gave gloves to characters. They Mickey Moused it.
