Which boss do you kill first?
I am having a problem with the boss battle with Dr. Lugae (Tower of Babil). I battle his "creation" and him with no problems. Then I proceed to the second part - him alone, who transforms in the "real" doctor.
I know there is a "trick" you can do using Elixirs. The first and ONLY time I've had the trick with the Elixirs work, he wiped out my party (I hit him with Elixir, he gets damaged 10K HP, then he wipes me out). Ever since, he doesn't seem to use the Reversal Gas on himself, just my party. But, occasionally, one of my characters is able to damage him (before getting put to sleep or otherwise killed). He uses the Reversal Gas - I can't heal my party, but the Elixir trick DOESN'T work!
Help, please! Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Michael
Which boss do you kill first?
I just went through this battle the other day without too much problem. Are you sure the enemy doesn't use reversal gas on himself along with your characters? When I battled Dr. Lugae he did the reversal thing and I used healing items on him. Don't just use elixirs and potions, make sure to have cecil's white magic and rosa's white magic at the ready when you fight the boss. It helps alot if you train until rosa learns curaja.

I finally got thru this battle. Thanks for the help.

use two elixirs on him when he uses reversal gas, he dies after da second one
I'm guessing he's harder in whatever versions u guys are referring to, because I just went through the tower this morning and he was easier than catching a yellow chocobo (WITHOUT using elixirs or healing him). Also my characters were fairly low level because I'm doing a bit of a speedrun (not a complete one, but rushing through most parts). Playing snes version as usual
I prefer playing original versions
In the DS version, he uses "Reversal Gas", which makes anything that would normally hurt you, heal you, and anything that would normally heal you, hurt you. And it affects your party and himself. That's why curative items and spells (such as Elixer) do massive damage to him.
One big tip for this battle: Cast Slow. Otherwise, you'll try to hit him with a high-level spell, and he'll use Reversal Gas again before it charges, so it has the opposite intended effect. Cast Slow on him, and it's really not that difficult of a battle -- just remember that when you're "reversed", Rydia will me "healing" everybody by casting a black magic spell on your own party. Or you can just beat your own party, because physical attacks would heal them.
